Best Book I Read On Muscle Pain

I read have read many books on stretching and managing body pain. This is by far the best! Going to physiology, do yoga, and just about everything else never helped much. Pandiculating was the answer!!

Very interesting and good information

I have had varying discomfort for a time now and have had x-rays, MRI's, nerve tests, seen Ortho's, and engaged in multiple rounds of physical therapy. Most of the PT I was already doing at home. Medical imaging showed no physical damage, and Ortho's observed no problems with me joints. My general doctor told me I have to most likely live with this discomfort. Time for a new doctor.

So here I am, here. I like the idea of this practice. It makes sense, Somatic Theory. I do a good amount of yoga and stretching and walk at least 10k steps daily, and my chronic issues are relieved by these activities, somewhat, but never abated entirely, then rear back up at random with the simplest of movements, putting down water for my dog, etc.

I have had several traumas to my body over my lifetime, both self induced, and because of a couple lengthy medical procedures in the past that had me splayed out unconscious on a table for 9hrs at each go. I am hopeful. Some early testing of these movements show promise and fold in nicely with my minimalist bodyweight fitness objectives.

Can I make my muscles forget their learned somatic defensive postures? Time and practice will reveal this answer. I am hopeful.

The writing is clear as are the description of the movements and corresponding images. A worthy purchase this was.

I found Martha's videos on YouTube when I was dealing with horrible pain from my herniated disc. This book and the Somatic method of movement is amazing and I have finally begun to heal my body. If you are looking for a way to NOT spend THOUSANDS on a chiropractor (not that chiropractors are bad, but I was living at mine) and you want a method to help alleviate your pain I highly recommend not only this book, but reach out to her and schedule an online consultation.

I thought this book was great. Really complimentary to yoga. She has some youtube videos that are helpful as well. I'm using this in my yoga classes. Loved it!

Very useful guide to somatics (easier to follow than the Thomas Hanna book!). Step by step photos of the postures and clear rationale for why the movements are useful

It sounds good. I will know after I put the movements into practice. Well organized, good photos, encouraging and positive tone, without being rah-rah.
