No photographs, all line drawings. The drawings were helpful, but it would have made more sense to me visually to see a real head of hair. Basic, which was good, but the way it was broken down into types wasn’t thorough enough. I needed to cut DH’s curly hair short, nothing that addresses that specifically. Good intro if you can get it from the library, but not worth buying.
Pretty good book. The copy I got from the library is from the 1980s, with the original published in the 1970s. The thickness of the book made me thick it was going to be long and take a long time to read, but it's not. The type is big and the illustrations actually take up most of the room on the pages. The illustrations, however, aren't real fancy or detailed, very, very simple. The beginning of the book includes some basic info about hair (how it grows, what makes it curly, how to take care of it, etc.). It is very basic - no fancy hair styles or anything, but all I really wanted was to know how to trim my own hair and my kids', which it taught me to do pretty well. I think I did a good job! hee hee It does have sections for how to cut shorter hair, curly hair, how to cut your own, another adult's, and kids' hair. I'm really glad I borrowed it from the library and that I was able to save money to just trim my girls' hair and my own! For stylish cuts, I'll definitely got to a salon, but for the basics, this book was a great help.
