Deep
As one of Earth’s Galactic Enforcers, Lawn Bascomb is assigned to Area 6Y for the duration of one year. Her only companion in this desolate section of space is Deep, her sentient Vogt ship.
The Vogt line is an experimental breed of unique vessels, each with its own artificially enhanced intelligence, created specifically for use at the deep space guard posts. Able to project a synthetic holographic form, Deep is not only Lawn’s sole fellow crew member, but he is also her confidant, and eventually her lover.
But their tenuous arrangement is suddenly and fatally shattered when their post is destroyed by an unknown alien force. Before long, Lawn and Deep are faced with the realization that, in order to save Earth, one—or both of them—must die.

What was the point of this story? Normally, I like a unique or slightly ambiguous endings, but this was…what even was this ending!?
A sentient ship in deep space
A woman with deep insecurities because of a face scar
The ship is able to project himself into a human male
She and the ship become lovers
Insta lust & love
I love sci-fi, so I am willing to forgive a lot for the pleasure of a good space opera. But the ending.

After Deep (hero) sacrifices himself to save Lawn (heroine), she returns to earth, only to discover that the ship is an actual man who simply projected his consciousness onto the ship. Deep is now stuck inside his own head, while his body remains stagnant.
She stays at his bedside, talking to him, and holding his hand. Just when he begins to show signs that he is waking up, the medical team slams a needle into her neck. Lights out.
The next thing you know, Lawn and Deep are in a relationship in some sort of alternate universe. Where he dreams about going into a controversial space program. Is this the matrix?
Did they die?
Are their bodies being used for science?
What happened!?

I liked this book and thought that the romance was pretty cute. The ending was relieving, a little unexpected, and super, super frustrating. A pretty good read for those who like AI/futuristic romance.

I loved the audio for this book, was such an easy listen.
This book was completely different for my type of read and I kept wondering things about the story.
Where I thought the story would go was a little puzzler at first but then I knew something must happen and it did. At first I was worried no prewarning would have made me fuming.
I enjoyed the story as it went but there was parts where Lawn annoyed me so made the story not as much as I think I would have loved it.
Loved the ending though even though I couldn’t believe doctor did that to them!

LOVED IT!!!! Wished there was more, But LOVED IT!!!
If a story can make you laugh and love and cry, I mean really cry because you care I mean really care about the characters and what's going on with them.. Then you've really got something, and this story really had me when Deep had to do what he did I was crying along with Lawn ( Lawn and Deep ? Yeah lil odd for names I guess but ppl are naming their REAL kids Blue Ivy,Apple, Coco,Moses and Pilot Inspeckor ( I think Jason Lee spelled it with a K for his son) Soo Lawn and Deep not soo Bad...(btw if you want more odd names look up the director for Spy Kids ( all R names for his kids Like Rebel,Rocket and Rogue, Hi! I'm Rocket Rodriguez, Crazy but true,) off topic but interesting ;)
This story was fun and interesting, kept me connected and made me feel and care, I LOVE that, I wish stories like this were easier to find, to many that are either just flat pieces of fluff or just all mindless sex and. Nothing else.... Deep sigh, after some of the dreck I've waded thru lately this was a lil piece of gold to me, I just wish it was longer or there was a follow up or something....
I Love how they ended up together but not all the things that happened to them to get there ...
Need a sequel or something, just as long as Deep and Lawn get their HEA always ;)

I was all prepared to give this 3 stars just for making me cry, lol.
But since in the end it turned out to be a happy ending and since i really liked the unique and interesting concept of this book, i give this one 4 stars.

I had this on my backshelf for a long time.
Loved it. Should have read it years ago.
My only small grip is the ending. Felt strange and rushed but not enough to discourage me from recommending this book.
