Read this to the kiddo. I'm assuming the movie came before the book as it read like an early Disney movie. Wish they had developed the book more. I felt I could see it playing out since I've watched the older movies but my son was getting a little lost with the abrupt jumps.

This would be better served as a children's picture book. No development of characters or plot. Just a basic through the motions story.

I read this in the 1970s, loved it, then forgot about it entirely. I was just reminded of it by the "Films with Exploding Helicopters" list on Letterboxd.

I picked up this novelization for 75 cents because the cover showed a giant dog. I'd give the novelization a three, because it felt like a combination of the movie CHOMPS and the circus episode of Knight Rider. (After writing that description, I bumped it up to a four, because that's probably my ideal movie.)

The strangest part of this story is that it revolves around a top-secret NATO experiment to grow vegetables faster than normal, in space. I had no idea NATO did projects like that! I guess cool stuff happens when countries work together.
