Moments To Hold Close is Molly Burford’s first poetry collection. Burford’s words encapsulate and express all facets of the human condition, including how to love and live a full life embracing the moments that matter.
This book was tough to get through. But I’m not a quitter! It was so damn repetitive and at times very cringey. Also some a of the shit she’d say was so niche it left me like ??? who would relate to that ? Not much poetry just more statements really.
Tbf the first third of this book was enjoyable and I’ll leave you with this quote I really liked: “As humans, we are patchwork beings, stitched together with all of the pieces of the people we loved or knew or were fascinated by once.”
But other than that, save your breath, your money, your time, your sanity, and don’t read this book.
An intimate journal shown to the world by writer, like pocket therapy notes one needs to remember when they are going through different phases of life.
I really liked it, might not resonate with everyone. :)
Beautiful poems to keep around and revisit for a good laugh, an emotional cry, or a quick reset. Although she does cover a variety of topics, some poems did feel repetitive.
For a little poetry book this was full of words we all need to hear sometimes! It was right on the mark and described vividly things we all go through and was a good reminder of all the little things we have to hold close!
For sum, this book take us for being a better one, not the best one because sometimes being lesser bring us to a better situation. After all, this book just asked us to be more human with all the perfect imperfection.
i really loved this. it gave me a lot of inspiration and made me smile. i tabbed a bunch of pages because i know for a fact ill be referring back to this multiple times later in life. ❤️🩹
Really really beautiful. This book of poetry made me really emotional. It collects wonderful moments and wistful moments and reminds you of why they’re important. I would recommend reading this over a long period of time. Maybe a few pages at a time. It was repetitive in a few parts but overall very thought-provoking and resonant. I think it is slightly catered towards women in their 20-30s but I think anyone can relate.
Saw a review that said “it’s more of a tumblr post than a book” but I think that’s exactly why I like it
Only note is it’s a little repetitive probably so that each individual poem has the potential to go tiktok viral lol but that’s ok if you read it as slowly as I did
This book is like a warm hug when you need it most. Or a friend when you just need someone to understand you. Or afternoon tea with a grandparent you haven't seen in too long. It reminds you of all those small feelings of devastation and hope and grief and love that make up a life—and reminds you of your own place in this big, confusing, beautiful world. Definitely take your time reading this one—I've found reading a few poems at a time to truly savor them makes each one feel even that much more poignant.
A quick and simple read full of wisdom and kindness. This is the perfect book to have on your coffee table at all times. Molly Burford’s collection of poems will make you feel all the emotions, from joy to empathy to sadness, as they talk about all the things every human has experienced at one point or another. She reminds you of all the big and little things in life that are important, all things we should be grateful for and learn from.
Lists about people and life experiences written in paragraph format. It's an invitation to take notice and pay more attention to the everyday little things. I felt generally well and I was quietly comforted while reading. Some of the lists are more fitting for younger audiences, though, perhaps for the 20-somethings, but they're still worth a quick run through. True enough, reading the lists reminded me of my younger self when I wrote these kinds of lists, too. Perhaps I should do them again.
I feel like this is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Good reminders for over thinkers (🙋🏽♀️) over planners (🙋🏽♀️) over analyzers (🙋🏽♀️) and really made me sit back and reflect. Minimalist in nature but maximalist in the sense that ill take a lot away from this.
It’s something to read slowly, only then each page can comfort or remind me of things I’ve been selectively oblivious of. Since it’s a poetry/ reflections compiled, I found some of the contents repetitive.
Better than others I’ve read and I really love having some of these collections on hand when I’m having a hard time. Some are a little redundant and many very similar to what I’ve written in my journal but hey! I appreciate that!
it was a poetry book: I didn't realize. it was mostly a book on positive vibes and how to live. I had to read it with a grain of salt: this book was clearly not written for me...and that's OK! This shit would've hit me harder in high school, I know it.
Like a montage of all the little and the big moments. Easy to read, gets you in your feels and makes you appreciate all the wonderful people in your life. Slightly repetitive and oversaturated so 3,5
