Growing up in Houston, Texas in the 1970’s, Annette loved the stories about ghosts haunting the Spaghetti Warehouse and the mysterious “blue light” cemetery. But it was "Devil's Island," the magical woods across from home where her imagination blossomed. She created fantastic scenarios to act out with her brother and the neighborhood kids where worlds were conquered and dragons were slain. Annette is still making up stories, and is celebrating the release of her first historical romance series with Pelican Book Group. Her love for the history and heritage of her home state of Texas shines through in her writing and she's made it the backdrop for her first novel series. Annette is a longtime member of American Christian Fiction Writers and her local chapter, ACFW-Writers on the Storm. She lives north of Houston with her husband, Dan of 35 years. Dan and Annette are the proud parents of three grown kids, a bonus daughter-in-law, two loveable rescue dogs, and a Russian tortoise named Frankie!

I was able to read this early as part of the book’s launch team. It was so cool to read about the soldiers who were stationed state’s side during WWII and finally getting to read about the women who served our country during that time. I really enjoyed following Frank and Pauline’s story as they navigated the troubles of a new relationship and the struggles of war and being away from their respective families during times of uncertainty. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves historical romance, Christian romance, and strong female characters!

Search Light is book three of the author's Bolivar Point Lighthouse series, which covers over seventy-five years of Texas Gulf Coast history. This novel's setting is World War II, a favorite of mine, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning through fiction about the very real threats posed by Nazis in the area of Galveston on the Texas Gulf Coast and also near the Louisiana coast. I loved the main female character's bravery in the face of danger, as well as her willingness to step out of her comfort zone to help a family in need (a nice subplot). The exciting but clean romance is handled very well, and the story's ending brings satisfying conclusions to plot and subplots. This book was a very pleasant read for me.

Against the dramatic backdrop of World War II, Annette O’Hare weaves an intriguing tale of suspense, faith, heroism, and sweet romance. I loved cheering for the main character, Pauline Lopez, and celebrating her heroism throughout the story. I also enjoyed traveling to various historic places on Galveston Island. O’Hare’s vivid descriptions even allow readers to tag along on a date to the famous Balinese Room Night Club, long gone but so beautiful to remember. Central to the story was spending time inside the famous Bolivar Lighthouse and witnessing this coastal sentinel's role in the war effort. Three cheers for the final installment in the Lighthouse Series. You don’t want to miss this one.

I enjoyed this light-hearted WWII adventure from Annette O'Hare. The setting is unique. Pauline and Mary Ellen are WAACs stationed at the Bolivar Point Lighthouse near Galveston. They are on the lookout for German submarines who might try to disrupt oil tankers. Who knew!

What these WAACs find is love and adventure with two fly boys. This is a quick enjoyable story rooted in history. I find it more as Women's Fiction even though there is romance because the relationships are solid all the way through.

Pauline and Mary Ellen find love amidst the strife of war.

Set during World War II, WAACs Pauline and Mary Ellen scan the waters of Galveston Bay from high up in the Bolivar Lighthouse. German U-Boats have attacked oil tankers despite several forts and an army airfield nearby. A sweet romance with handsome pilots is included along with suspense in this well-written historical. Customs of the times are part of the story and details about the local area. Reading it was a delight.

Another great story centered around the Bolivar Lighthouse that is based on historical events. This author magically blends her extensive knowledge of the area and history with romance, a little suspense, and some action to boot! You’ll have trouble putting it down!
