I'm posting a review here for You Rolling River (c. 1947), which is also set in and around Astoria, Oregon but which doesn't appear on the list. I'm always intrigued, when reading vintage fiction, how quaint and yet modern it seems. Two boys have some great adventures, two couples find romance, and the whole community deals with change as it comes in the last 19th century. Worth looking for, and interests me in reading more Archie Binns.
