Story is ispiring to abuse surivors like myself it gives me hope. it talks about the emotions felt by an outcast of a family and the feelings of abandonment she felt but how she fought that and though she still has some effects from her child hood she has overcome so much. She did not allow herself to below a statistic and lose hope. She fought for herself and kept going. She used her intelligence though at times in not so many positive ways she used them not to a detrement to her future. She is a SURVIVOR and she overcame her circumstances that was handed to her well. It gives me hope to read something from a writer like this. Thanks. Well written.
I received this book in the Good Reads drawing. Thank you! The story of a 2 yr. old taken from her heroin addicted parents & placed in children's homes, & finally adopted by a family where she never felt she fit in. She acted out so she could be returned to a children's home & thereby get out of the family. She became a mother of a daughter. Her life was about trying to become part of a family somehow. I didn't see that she ever got that. Misused & abused by men she didn't like men much. She became a Christian & educated woman & continued her search to be a wife, mother, & part of a family.
An interesting story about the life of someone who grew up without a family and how this affected her. How she managed to get herself through education and look after her daughter. God helped her make sense of life.
