Something happened in early 2011 that hasn't happened in decades, perhaps centuries - and we didn't even notice it. That is, we didn't see it for what it was. Massive unrest from Tunisia to Egypt to Libya rocked the Arab world and threw the globe into political crisis. Within days, an earthquake-tsunami-nuclear calamity of terrifying proportions shocked Japan and sent the world reeling once again, even as the globe's financial markets shuddered to sustain themselves while states and nations tottered on the brink of bankruptcy - where many still linger. All of this, of course, we did notice. What we may have missed was that ancient predictions for this period of time called for exactly simultaneous environmental, political, and financial disasters. Were we seeing the beginning of 'the end of history' - and not picking up the signal? In his prescient new book "The Storm Before The Calm", seven-time "New York Times" bestselling author Neale Donald Walsch offers a startling yes. But Walsch also says there is nothing to fear, advancing an extraordinary explanation for what is happening even now all over the planet. Then - and more importantly - he provides a stunning prescription for healing our lives and our world through the answering of seven simple questions, inviting people everywhere to join in an earth-saving exchange on his website. Compelling and perfectly timed, "The Storm Before The Calm" answers every question that is worth asking about December 2012 and beyond.
Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before beginning his now famous conversation with God. His With God series of books has been translated into 34 languages, touching millions of lives and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.
In addition to authoring the renowned With God series, Neale has published 16 other works, as well as a number of video and audio programs. Available throughout the world, each of the CwG dialogue books has made the New York Times Bestseller list, Conversations with God-Book 1 occupying that list for over two and half years.
The With God Series has redefined God and shifted spiritual paradigms around the globe. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale created the Conversations with God Foundation, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to inspiring the world to help itself move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love.
Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone-from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul, Neale has found a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that."
Neale Donald Walsch, an influencer in terms of spirituality and how we should take a closer look at it. He had already been very successful with his Conversations w/ God series before he published a Conversations w/ Humanity series. This book being the first. Regarded as a New Human Manifesto, The Storm Before the Calm asks you to open your mind to new possibilities in the way we shape our lives.
Expecting an insight into yourself you may have never even known about before? You’ve picked up the right book.
Walsch seeks to redefine religion as we know it. But don’t let that make you turn away from what he has to say.
He invites you to have a conversation with him. Not only can you reach him on many platforms across social media but he has written his book in a way that he likes to call a “monoconvologue - a monologue that includes conversations derived from previous dialogues.” He says that while writing this book he had many conversations of his own from varying people or varying backgrounds and in various settings. Their questions and doubts are intwined in all of the conversations he presents in order to give presence to differing opinions or perspectives. “In that way... (it) would not be just a monologue, with me rambling on and on from my point of view.” At some points, I did however, feel as though his sentences were peddling along faster than I could keep up and I felt as though I had to read back over a few paragraphs at points.
I loved his philosophy. It is all relevant to this day and will be for a long while. However, it’s beautiful to be able to see that change is occurring, however slow.
Walsch first proposes that “Seven Simple Questions” will change your life. I was definitely turning away when I got to this point but I read through and yes, I did agree with most to all of his comments. It wasn’t until he had completely explained his ideas behind those “simple” questions. It really did click. He explained his views behind changing the way we see religion. And he had me hooked on his perspectives from then on.
He delivers quite an extraordinary perspective, right at the core of our beliefs in the world we currently live in, being what he calls our, “Old Cultural Story”. Only to see how we might go about writing a, “New Cultural Story”. I did feel at times explanations were drawn out a little too much. Examples started to feel quite drawn out. However, that’s just me and perhaps with such mind-bending proposals, extra examples may be required for some not quite getting it.
A lot of his book seemed to be promoting his website www.TheGlobalConversation.com among many other of his platforms for discussions of like topics. I appreciated a linking to real conversations at first but he mentioned his web platforms so many times I started to wonder why I was bothering to read the book at all when I could just log into his socials and get the rough summary through a few ted talks and a forum. At some points I was skimming. This really did bring the book down for me. However, I thoroughly enjoyed everything he was saying. I do have to confess he has changed the way I make decisions in my day-to-day life and I appreciate it very much.
Just a few touching words that have truly inspired me: “The problem is not that people have not been living what they believe. The problem is that they have been.”
“The biggest difficulty in the world today is that we continue trying to solve our problems at every level except the level at which the problems exist.”
“We must choose not what we will do, but what we will be. For all “doingness” proceeds from “beingness”.”
“Gathering and sharing the wealth could not possibly produce the amount of human misery as gathering and hoarding the wealth has done.”
“When we live our life from the soul... we see what the present moment was created for.”
I started this book in hopes of answering an important question of humanity, basically, “where does the cruelty stem from?” To a real extent, Neale Donald Walsch has really assisted me in finding an answer.
Something happened in early 2011 that hasn’t happened in decades, perhaps centuries—and we didn’t even notice it. That is, we didn’t see it for what it was.
Massive unrest from Tunisia to Egypt to Libya rocked the Arab world and threw the globe into political crisis. Within days, an earthquake-tsunami-nuclear calamity of terrifying proportions shocked Japan and sent the world reeling once again, even as the globe’s financial markets shuddered to sustain themselves while states and nations tottered on the brink of bankruptcy—where many still linger. All of this, of course, we did notice. What we may have missed was that ancient predictions for this period of time called for exactly this: simultaneous environmental, political, and financial disasters. Were we seeing the beginning of “the end of history”—and not picking up the signal? In his prescient new book The Storm Before The Calm, seven-time New York Times best-selling author Neale Donald Walsch offers a startling answer: yes. But Walsch also says there is nothing to fear, advancing an extraordinary explanation for what is happening even now all over the planet. Then—and more important—he provides a stunning prescription for healing our lives and our world through the answering of seven simple questions, inviting people everywhere to join in an earth-saving exchange at TheGlobalConversation.com. Compelling and perfectly timed, The Storm Before The Calm answers every question that is worth asking about December, 2012 and beyond.
In this book Neale takes us through 28 "Conversations" that he encourages us to carryout with the rest of humanity. Through the website The Global Conversation, he encourages us to create a dialogue. Essentially, the world is evolving and we need to be a part of our own evolution. He brings up 7 Essential Questions that mankind must ask, there is no right or wrong answer, but these questions, according to Neale, will ease our evolution as a part of humanity.
1. How is it possible that 6.9 billion people can all claim to want the same thing (peace, security, opportunity, prosperity, happiness and love) and be singularly unable to get it? 2. Is it possible that there is something we do not fully understand about life, the understanding of which would change everything? 3. Is it posslble that there is something we do not fully understand about ourselves, about our own life and it's purpose, the understanding of which would shift our reality and alter our experience for the better, forever? 4. Who am I? 5. Where am I? 6. Why am I where I am? 7. What do I intend to do about that?
These are pretty deep questions, and one's that most people shy away from. Neale takes time to provide his answer to each question, and encourages us to take time and come up with our own answers.
He also provides action steps to take to bring us closer to revolution and evolution. A few of these are:
Ask yourself the seven simple questions repeatedly Participate in the world discussion at the Global Conversation website Use social media to spread the word Change starts with you Make an actual list of "Things I Know About God" and "Things I Know about Life." See how this lines up with what you were taught as a child or came to understand through the common culture. Spend 20 minutes a day with your soul Create a Seven Questions Discussion Group
There are several more, but this is a start. I feel that this book is important, however, I found some of it to be repetitive and a little dull. I think it's something you would want to read over time, maybe read a few conversations, get involved online, and over time make your way through. Otherwise, it's a little overwhelming, and when things get overwhelming, they also get boring, and then reading them is pointless.
My favorite books are Conversations with God. Storm before the Calm, calls us to take the teachings of the other books, and affect change in Humanity. What humanity has been doing has done nothing little for the human condition because of the way we view the world - through the physical and mental and not spiritual. Very deep book actually and one I will want to read again. Feeling personal responsibility for changing the world is scary but also exciting and adventurous. I'd like to become closer to participating more fully.

I really enjoyed Conv. w/god book 1. After that, the author lost me and this book was the worst in the series. 2 page chapters and then 2 pages of bullet points about the chapter.
The author or channelor or "Conversations with God" followed up with suggestions for how to get the world envisioned in the 'conversations'. Appropriately, a key fundamental in creating the future in which equality, peace, and opportunity can thrive is the world ridding itself of animosity and division. Walsch proposes conversations...with everyone...those you disagree with, strangers, family, friends and a world community about the world we wish to live in.
The idea that we envision and can discuss how we would want the world to be puts us in the position of understanding that we all want more of the same than different. Perhaps we see getting to the future by different means, but we can't get there at all stuck in our negative state of division and can't do attitude.
Topics in which to discuss with co workers, friends, loved ones, and strangers abound in this forward thinking book to an enlightened way of living. The only way we fail is by deciding that what we desire can never be. Large change is often accomplished in small nibbles and belief, vision, and combining that energy with other visionaries with diverse skills is the first step.
Excelente libro para alcanzar una nueva visión de la vida
Excelente libro, nos ayuda a liberarnos de viejas creencias, a plantearnos con seriedad lo que hemos construido y lo que podemos hacer para transformarnos como unidad.
Deep look at life This is a very deep look at life which will cause one to look at everything differently. The author goes into simple truths including why people won’t accept them. I bet if this book was released in 2024 it would be embraced by a larger audience.
Was anyone else disappointed when they went to the website Neale mentions in Conversation #1 of the book? He said go to www.theglobalconversation.com, and to navigate to The Storm Before the Calm button. He also mentions that "at this special website, there's also a separate icon inviting you to post your ideas, your thoughts, your concepts, and your inspirations regard the contents of Humanity's New Cultural Story." He even later says that you can create your own Topic Board to contribute to the conversation. I want to so desperately talk with people about the possibilities for a new human culture, so I was eager to check these opportunities out. Unfortunately, the Storm Before the Calm page gave me an Error 404 - Not Found. After searching around on the site, the only community place that seemed to offer the ability to be a part of a conversation was CWG Connect, which Neal seems to want $12 per month for. Maybe I'm being stingy, but I wasn't expecting to have to pay in order to be a part of this conversation. I thought that Neale would provide a place free of charge, even if it was supported by ad revenue. So, I was sorely disappointed and haven't joined. The Storm Before The Calm book looks like it was published in 2011. So perhaps he has already finish the New Cultural Manifesto that he said our conversations would help write. If that is the case, I have not yet heard about it and can find no mention of it at www.theglobalconversation.com. Perhaps also he has changed his business model around the site and intention of this online conversation. Either way, I'm sad what he said would be available and it is not. If anyone has any info to point me in the right direction I would love to hear it!
I spent the majority of my time reading this book with my heart saying YES YES YES, and at the same time my cynical side kept saying NEVER EVER EVER. Walsch has some radical ideas - about humanity, human culture and God - that ring true on one level and sound like utopian fantasy on another.
I suppose I am proving his point, that our current culture has convinced me that a truly connected society that cares about everyone isn't possible, and that the only way is survival of the fittest and every man for himself. That we are separate from each other, and separate from God.
But, my heart/soul was digging it - it believes we are all One, that we are not separated from God, and that a human culture of love and compassion is possible. Walsch believes that if we just start having this conversation with one another, if we just start listening to our soul instead of our mind, that a new culture of humanity will naturally happen. I hope he is right.
Great book overall. Some of the material is repeated from his other books but is a great refresher. It took me a while to finish this one but, like with all his other books, was glad I read it. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to further the new paradigm that's emerging in the world of having individuals take back and create their life experience more consciously.
This is an awesome book for the times we are living in -- especially during the elections! Walsch leads us through our old cultural story and the need to create a new one. My Book Circle is reading this -- and this has created the most passionate discussions in the 2 years we've been meeting together!
Outstanding book, one of the best I have read since A Course in Miracles. This book does what I don't think any book has ever done (at least that I've read). In and part of its spiritual message it also conveyed the essence of the EST training that was popular in the late 70's early 80's.
Once again, Mr. Walsch presents some very cool ideas about how to recreate our cultural story, one that teaches of unity and oneness as opposed to separation and competition. He never fails to provoke my thinking and imagination.
