I was actually pretty impressed by Red Wine. I have very low expectations for most authors' ability to write something terrifying, not because they can’t, but because horror stories just don’t frighten me anymore. With that said, this anthology was quite unsettling, bordering on scary at times. I can’t say that I checked under my bed for monsters before going to bed, but a couple of the stories were truly disturbing – definitely ones that you’ll think about weeks after you’ve read them and cringe a little. “Red Wine” and “Leela” were probably my favorites of the four, just because the technical writing is more my style and I enjoyed the plots and creativity more than the other two. I thought the last story, “Birth of a Vampire”, contained a bit too much dialogue and not enough description of the unfolding scene, so I didn’t really get too wrapped up in it. “Ginn Hunter” was the second runner-up; it was just average on all counts – not bad or excellent, just quite bland in comparison to my favorite couple.

Overall, Red Wine is definitely worth reading, especially if you’re not jaded by tons of horror stories already. Despite the fact that I was not incredibly fond of “Birth of a Vampire”, it was purely due to the abundance of needless dialogue, otherwise I would have ranked it up there with the others. I think each of these stories, on their own, would make for great novels, but it’s refreshing to get a taste of 4 authors in one read. If you want something quick and satisfying that you don’t have to pay to leave, I’d definitely pick this one up.

Warning: BLOODTASTIC!

My Rating: 5 of 5

My Cover Thoughts: Absolutely love the cover! Have some red wine……

My Thoughts/Review: I was surprised how fast I read this anthology. It was very suspenseful and eye catching and I could not put it down. I had to keep reading to see what was in store.

What do you do when you love someone and they don’t love you back? To kill or be killed that is the question.

Life as a hunter is fun until you become the hunted. What will you do?

What would you do if you came up against a creature? Run or fight…..

What would you do if you found out you were a vampire? Would feed or would you die…..

These are the questions you will ask yourself while reading these short stories.

These are the best short stories I have ever read by the talented ladies. Want a good scary story read this book and be prepared to be scared!

Advice: Best Anthology ever! EPIC READ!

Hea y'all Anne here I got to read Red Wine an anthology put together by 4 great up and coming authors, one of which I have read for before and she is great Rue Volley so I know anyone she teams up with is gonna be just amazing as well. Red Wine is 4 separate stories written to the tune of twisted murder, unrequited longing, and purely evil tales. All the tales could be taken and added to and made into full sized fantastic books, but the book is great as it gives readers a chance to sample 4 authors that have unique writing styles that not only draw you in but they compliment each other well. Each writer has the fan hooked in the first page of their story and it stays that way through each tale, all the characters from each tale are rounded and enticing making you crave to know what happens next. The stories themselves are insane they are all captivating and page turners, fans will whip right through this and be drooling for more from each of these great authors. A.L. Kay has made a story for scorned women and what a tale she weaves only at the end to find out that the twist leaves you shocked and gasping. M.r. Murphy gives a tale for a new paranormal creature, do you dare to ask and maybe be curious or will curiosity send you reeling after her tale of stolen love and a monster unlike any other. River Jordan has created a tale for all the lost souls that need a purpose in life only to be twisted and turned into something that brings forth the most torn thoughts and disturbing images. Rue Volley oh how she weaves a tale of twisted love and broken souls only to see that self denial only destroys what your heart truly craves and that's freedom to be what it is meant to be. All 4 authors each get 5 out of 5 stars from me and the book itself gets 5 out of 5 stars congratulations y'all have done a great job continue the amazing work.

Review for Red Wine by A.L Kay,M.R Murphy,River Jorden and Rue Volley

I was given this book by one of the authors A.L A.l. Kay. I was beyond thrilled to recieved it for many reasons one is that amazing cover,A.L Kay signed it,and I personally just love getting books by authors.I am not going to tell you about each short story because I am afaird if i do then I would be giving away all of the story. I mean these are short stories here and lets face it I like to give away most of the book when I write a review.

About the book, this book has 4 different stories in it all by a different author. So I am going to put all the reviews together into one piece.
The first story is called Red Wine by A.L kay it was a a great short story. At first I didnt get the ending because I thought there would be more well I wanted there to be of the story. This story was the best short story of the whole book! I give this one 4 out of 5 stars. Would have been 5 out of 5 stars but ending was a little disappointing. Next story is called Ginn Hunter by M.R M.r. Murphy. This one gave me chillls because of what happened in it. The Whole eating the body all at once part. For a short story it went into great detail. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. 3rd story was called Leela by River Jorden. I have to be honest this story I didnt finish. I did not like it at all. There are just some books I cant get into and this was a story I had no interest in. I give it 1 out of 5 stars because I didnt finish it. Final story is called Birth of a Vampire by Rue Volley. I love it when books always start with a great story and end with a great story. Because this one did! Next to Red Wine this was also my favorite story of the whole book. Some much detail and characters were great. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

I usually view an anthology of short stories much like I do a music CD. I know I will love a few of them, like a few, and fast forward past a few. Imagine my surprise when I absolutely loved each one of these stories! I was blown away by the twists and turns that I did not see coming. I like short stories because I don't always have a lot of time to read and can stop in between. With Red Wine, each author's style was distinctive, but flowed together so well, and the stories were so captivating that I didn't want to take a break in between and read the entire thing in one sitting! Awesome!

I gave this book a 3 star rating because I enjoyed all but one story. The "Ginn Hunter", which BTW is spelled "Djinn". I found this story to be ridiculous and hard to follow, which brought it down a couple of notches for me. The story is really out of place in this book as this writer clearly is not in the same legue as the others. Omit that one story and it's a pretty decent read.
