Having enjoyed reading Immortal, book one of this series, I was excited to read Golem, the follow up. I had great hopes for ‘more of the same’ in terms of superheroes, supernatural storylines, fun interesting characters and, probably most importantly, learning more about the world JD Oliva has set everything in. Golem gave me all of that and more and is a fine follow up to the first book. We continue to follow Jennifer as she learns more about the mysterious powerful talisman as well as more about her long deceased father. We also see more of Apex’s past alongside Jenn's grandfather John. I can’t decide which era, from the modern to the 1940’s, I like best because they all offer something great to the wonderful story. JD Oliva has a great talent when it comes to weaving compelling narratives together and I for one am grateful he’s sharing it with this excellent series. Overall, this is the follow up the brilliant Immortal deserved, it’s addictive reading right from the start and is fast paced and most importantly fun. Great work Mr Oliva, ‘keep ‘em coming!’
