Jill James didn't start out wanting to be a writer. Along the way, she wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, president of the United States, and an astronaut.
Life happened and she discovered she could be all those things; in the pages of her books.
Her debut novel, Tempting Adam, came out February 2011 from The Wild Rose Press.
In October of 2011 she decided to start self-publishing.
Jill writes contemporary and paranormal romance with a dash of urban fantasy from time to time.
I was all set to read this because I dig married (or recently divorced) couples rekindling their relationships. But in the first two pages we learn the "Heroine" cheated on her husband and that's why they got divorced.
And she's lamenting throwing away 20 years for bad sex with her boss at a sleazy motel. Would it have been okay if the sex had been fabulous? Oh, God, please shut up.
I already hate her and there is no way I can get on board with a reconciliation here. Gah, I hate cheaters so much. So this novella is not for me.
I felt sorry for these two. It could so very easily happen just this way in real life and so easily avoided if they’d just communicated.
This is a clean romance of second chances and it comes at the reader from a refreshing angle.
I recall events but can't recall ages mentioned (I notice only when there's a glaring gap) but the cover doesn't look like a couple who must be close to their forties.

What I liked about this novel.....
This was a good read of about Lisa and Todd who thought their twenty year marriage was all over, 'Divorced,' however having to come together for the weekend and listening to each other will they be able to reconcile, forgive and move on. I liked how this author was able to deliver a well written story that showed how second chances could exit even after all the drama. Yes, divorce is a very touchy issue and I thought the story line showed real life problems that can happen in any marriage. I liked how this couple's children tried to help in this story. The ending well I will just say you much pick up "Divorce, Interrupted" to see how the story ends.
If you are looking for a story of love and forgiveness you have come to the right place for a good read about a second chance.
Divorce, Interrupted was a romance with a different kind of premise. That's all I'll say about the plot because I don't want to post a spoiler.
This sexy novella is emotion-drenched with characters who are vulnerable, hurting and wanting to inflict pain on each other. After a lifetime together, Todd and Lisa suddenly find themselves single again. Alone. And lonely--for each other. They also find themselves still attracted to each other. A lifetime of knowing the sexual satisfaction and, yes, the comfort, they find in each other's arms doesn't just vanish because a divorce decree is signed.
Now, together one last time, still feeling betrayed, they must fight their desire as well as the need to hurt each other in the blame game. When faced with a life and death struggle for survival, they finally communicate as they attempt to save themselves from emotional destruction and physical death.
This was a good read. I wish it had been longer though. Just so that we got more of the character's personalities. The weight thing kinda ticked me off.. What happens when they both gain a little weight again? Are they going to fall back in the same routine? I picked up this book and didn't know the heroine cheats.. I'm actually not sure if I had known if I would have bought it.. (Double standard I know but that's just my thing) But it wasn't a immediate dislike of the heroine, I felt that the heroine really did regret her decision..
This was more like a 2.5 for me. I always like the marriage in trouble novellas, but I did think that things were resolved a little too simply. And there was a big exciting conclusion that seemed glossed over and not given the details it deserved. But, I did enjoy it.
A couple whose marriage of 20 years has fallen apart due to his insensitivities and her infidelity. The beginning was hard reading because both were raw. She was not ready to accept the blame and his comments were still insensitive. I don’t feel his reason given later was fully acceptable. However, it was an okay story.
I don't usually appreciate cheating h tales, but this was well concieved.Through crisis, they finally have a much needed discussion ,confrontation and then... accelerated forgiveness due to life and death scenario.Truly recommend!
This book is unlike any other I’ve read. It certainly stirred quite an array of emotion in me. Divorce is such a touchy subject. I had to put aside how I feel about divorce and ex-husbands in general to really soak the story in. Where Lisa reached out Todd, her ex-husband to help in times of difficulty, I imagined doing quite the opposite.
I had to look at it like this: So many of the books that we read are about amazing people who do amazing things. We read about great loves in faraway lands and we want so desperately to believe in that unending love we really buy into it. So why not buy into a couple divorcing even thought they clearly were still desperately in love with each other. Once I was able to move past that it was ok.
The story was a little choppy by nature, as would be restarting a 20 year marriage. I imagine it would be a lot like trying to start an old lawn mower the first time in the spring.
Momma found herself blushing a bit while reading some of the “intimate” scenes in the book, so if you like the sexy romance angle of things, Jill James delivers.
It is a quick read, the jury is still out on whether I would continue reading the series, but I’m not completely opposed to the idea.
What does Momma Think?
Momma gives Divorce Interrupted by Jill James 2 cookies and a glass of milk!
Divorce, Interrupted (The Lake Willowbee Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition) I was curious to see how this story would play out from the description. I was pretty sure it would turn out to be a HEA. It's a fast read, but a good one. It is never an easy feat to get over being cheated on. There are so many reasons why a person does it in the first place. It's just too bad that people feel like they aren't good enough, or in this case, not appreciated, or have your spouse make you feel bad about yourself. Words are the biggest weapons we use against each other. Why, is it easier to spit out hurtful words, than it is to communicate what the actual issue is beforehand. I would recommend this book.
I expected to like this book. I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I think anyone who has ever been or is married is going to see their own relationship mirrored somewhere in the pages of this short story. And what a unique idea--something not seen very often in romantic fiction--characters who have been divorced and then rediscover each other. I loved this. And the love scenes are hot too!
I loved this book. I love the idea of divorcees getting back together or realizing that they shouldn't get divorced.
The fact that it was the wife that was unfaithful was a great little change of pace from what you'd think. It's typically the man, so it was very refreshing to see it from this point of view.
This story had the potential to be a 5-star book, but isn't long enough to give me the depth of emotion that I wanted from these characters. It started off great, building the angst and sexual tension quite nicely. But then events happened so quickly that the emotion took a back seat to survival. Still a pleasant read.
This one intrigued me initially--a couple divorced because of an affair, but this time it was the wife who stepped out, not the husband. The novel was part romance, part adult angst and part adventure (there is a flood from which they have to struggle to escape). All in all, not a remarkable book, but a satisfactory one, especially while traveling.
