"This is a story of a happy year spent by two young Jamaican brothers on their grandfather's small farm, and. of a particular event that made the year memorable. A remarkable re-creation of life in the Jamaican countryside before the days of electricity, THE CLOUD WITH THE SILVER LINING rings with the gaiety of the people and is filled with the warmth of the Jamaican sun."
I read the 1966 Hardback edition but I am sure the later paperback editions are the same. It is a wonderful story of a simpler life before modern conveniences. Timothy and his older brother Milton face adversity and grow up quickly after their grandfather is injured. While the book is geared toward young adults it is a moving story and has many teachable moments.
