The Book of Terns, Michael C. Witte and Peter Delacorte s brilliant, epic, and mind-boggling compendium of bad puns and great drawings, is back! Long available only in dusty used-bookstores and sleazy corners of the Internet, The Book of Terns reterns with a vengeance, with a spiffy new cover and several never-before-seen cartoons to accompany the old favorites.
This is one of my most favourite books in the whole world. Somewhere I have the original book from 1978 - buried in the library somewhere. But I just had to have another copy so it arrived today and I've already read it. It's an easy read - a book about terns - in pictures.
One of my fave pictures is called 'Atterney.' It's a picture of a tern dressed like an English barrister - complete with wig and robes. I sent that picture to a family member who is an 'atterney.'
A silly little book of puns on the word "tern" featuring the so-named birds in many different positions (a favorite is Tern-Return, which is a tern looking in a mirror). The art is clever and deceptively simple; the artist is quite accomplished at shading.
Not rating this because that's not the point! Just vibes here.
I loved this book of puns when I first read it in the late 70s. It's funny and nicely illustrated. It stretches your imagination. I got this copy for Christmas from a daughter....to her everlasting credit.
