A great introduction to the framework(s) mentioned in the title: Spring Boot and the general Spring Framework are not very much distinguished here but rather treated side-by-side, in a natural and reasonable progression of topics. The examples are good, illustrative, clear, the theoretical aspects are treated with just the right amount of breadth and depth... with one exception: Nearly half of his voluminous book deals with database access. Though there's no doubt about the importance of the topic, the stress that databases are given here make the overall distribution of aspects quite a bit unbalanced.
