Fascinated early on by sounds and vibrations, one of Joseph s first experiments, at age six, was to lie with his sisters Corleen and Gloria, with their ears pressed to the train tracks. Mesmerized by their ability to capture the sounds of the oncoming train Joseph s sisters, ages seven and eight, perished on the tracks, and only Joseph survived. From this tragedy he went on to deal with the death of his mother and being placed with a foster family, where he found a mentor, Grandfather, who schooled him in the mysteries of tribal ceremonies. Here began Rael s life as a medicine man and his exploration of the power of language, inspired by his study of the Tiwa language in which each word and sound is a metaphor expressing some aspect of the great mystery. Through his story, he leads us beyond a mentally-oriented way of perceiving reality to one based on intuition. About the AuthorJoseph Rael grew up on the Southern Ute lands in Colorado and the Picuris Pueblo in New Mexico. A teacher, storyteller and mystic, he combines his deep intuitive understanding of the pulsating energy of the universe with ancient Native American teachings on sound and vibration. For the last twenty years Rael s personal mystical vision has led him to construct sound chambers where people of all faiths gather to chant for peace. To date, there are more than forty of these chambers around the world. As a Native American elder, Rael has been invited to speak before the United Nations on world peace and to address the Pentagon on the role of the warrior in the modern world. Rael received a masters in political science from the University of Wisconsin and went on to study for his Ph.D. at the University of New Mexico but then left to find my spiritual calling in a different kind of Ph.D., a study of the doctrines that lie within the land and the sky.
