Cameron Allen is a designer with a passion for creating beautiful homes. When she inherits her granddaddy’s construction business, she swaps her stilettos for steel-toed boots.
Determined to prove that she has what it takes to succeed in the construction industry, she secretly applies to compete on a popular nationally televised renovation show.
The catch? She also signed up her employee, Mac, without his knowledge. Now she has to convince the tall, sexy thorn in her side to be her partner.
Mac Caldwell thinks Cam’s construction hat isn’t the only thing hard about her—she’s the most obstinate woman he’s ever had to deal with. She’s also the sexiest.
He hates being in the spotlight, but when Cam presents an opportunity to earn much needed money, he finds himself spending weeks in front of a camera, working side by side with her. As the competition heats up, so do things between them, especially after they’re forced to share the same living and sleeping space.
Returning home, can they continue to find happiness together, or will their hard hats turn to heartbreaks?
M.E. Montgomery can’t remember a time she hasn’t had at least one book on the go to read. After years of falling headfirst into the lives and loves of other author’s characters, M.E. decided to write her own. She enjoys creating the kind of realistic storybook friends you wish you could actually meet, and sometimes she finds herself wondering what those characters are up to once she’s delivered their happily ever after. She’s married to her best friend and has four children and two Boxer dogs. They live wherever the Navy sends her husband, usually the East coast of the U.S., but also once in Japan. Whenever she’s not writing or substitute teaching, she often ponders the riddle of how the kitchen sink appears to automatically refill with dirty dishes as soon as her back is turned. On the occasions it stays empty, you can find her with a glass of wine or Scotch outside at their fireplace or curled up inside with a book, binge watching TV, or chatting with readers.
The premise of this story is fun and different, so it really drew me. Cam is running her grandfather’s construction business and they need more work. She signs up for a reality reno show to put Sterling Construction out there and draw attention to her company. The only problem is that she needs a partner and there’s only one person on the crew who will do: Mac. He’d never agree to go, which is why she doesn’t ask him or even mention that she signed them up for the show until they’re chosen to compete. Mac is less than thrilled since he’s dealing with a lot of complicated family stuff and tends to keep to himself. It’s just easier that way, since his past will change people’s opinions of him. The last thing he wants to do is be on a reality TV show, but he begrudgingly agrees because his share of the cash prize would make life a lot easier.
Soon they’re alone together in Colorado and the physical attraction they’ve easily ignored until now boils over in such close quarters. They’re both surprised to realize it’s not just physical and they genuinely like one another. By day they’re working to win the contest so they’re all business, but by night they’re hungry for one another. They’re having a great time, until life gets in the way. They both have opportunities and obligations to balance, but his and hers are too drastically different to make this work. Or are they? This is a fun read with a varied cast of characters in quirky small town and I really enjoyed it.

Have you ever read a book which pulled every possible strings in your heart?Well if you haven't you definitely need to read this one.The story starts with Mac and Cam pulling each others hair out at every damn situation. But then their relationship takes a sharp turn and is not the same anymore. They take part in a reality show where they develop feelings for each other. This book can bring out all the feelings you have put carefully at a corner of your heart. It was beyond amazing. The bond between Mac and Trey is one of a gem.I just really hope Trey gets his own story some day.The way Mac and Cam were teasing each other had me laughing out loud.Mac is a very difficult character to find.He is the full package with his broody exterior and a exciting sense of humour with puns.Cam is a determined girl who is trying her best to establish herself in the construction world in spite of being a woman. Her journey of being successful was so worth reading. The book also had me full on sobbing for the last 15 percent. It feels like I poured out every thing I felt in this review. The way each and every one of the characters stood by Mac was so heart touching. The book also had a special and unique character,Mayor Sterling. This was definitely my best read of the month till now and I can't wait to read Cash's story.
Reality and Home I have been enjoying all the books in the M.E. Montgomery’s Sterling Mill Series and this is no exception. They are all set in the small town of Sterling Mill and revolve around the Allen family. This one is about Cameron Allen, who has taken over Sterling Construction after her grandfather’s death. Ever since Mackenzie Caldwell started working for Sterling Construction, it has felt like there was always friction between them. It was like he had no respect for her position and she found herself goading him into recognizing it. He has mad carpentry skills, never calls in sick, seems to get along the other guys and there is not any part of the construction process that he does not understand. That is why she needs him as a partner on her favorite renovation reality show,. Now she just has to convince him. It is definitely his thing, but other pressures force him to agree in the end. I absolutely loved this emotional heartwarming love story that was spiced up with steamy chemistry, drama and all the family support one could wish for. It can be read as a standalone, but I am sure after reading it you will want to know the love stories of the other members of the Allen family. Looking forward to reading about Cameron’s twin brother, Chase in the future. I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.

😊What i liked -
✔ Reality Show/Small Town/Forced proximity. ✔ I loved Mac's character. He is a very complex private guy. ✔ Mac's puns and teases were fantastic. I laughed out loud with a few. ✔ I liked how determined Cam's character was. ✔ The last 10 percent of the book had me bawling hard. It was so sweet and touching. I swear I wanted to go in the book and give both Mac and his brother a tight hug. ✔ I liked all the side characters but my absolute favourite was Em. (that girl gives some sound advice)
🤔What could have been better -
✔ I found Cam's character a bit immature.

P.s - This book is medium paced but makes it a point to pull your heart strings.
Thank You, M.E. Montgomery and Literally Yours PR ,for a copy.
Oh, Mac! You sweet, beautiful man. This is such a sweet, heartfelt story. I was hooked from the start and did pretty much nothing for a whole day but read (including into the wee hours until sleep claimed me for a little while). Mac is so closed off, he held his cards close to his chest until Cam weaselled her way under his skin and he started to open up. Cam is bright, beautiful, bubbly, but she has been through heartache and understands determination and hard work more than most. Their chemistry and dynamic was fun and sassy, but had tender and emotional moments as well. Their oppositeness made them work and play together so well. Mac’s backstory was heartbreaking but what really made me actually cry was the heartbreak near the end and the parole hearing for his brother, Trey. The sense of family that Sterling Mill as a whole town exudes is wonderful, but the Allen and Dawson family are priceless in the unflinching support of anyone they take into their fold. I loved to see characters from previous books and hints of what’s to come in the series. (I can’t wait for Chase to get his HEA. I hope that Trey might also feature more and get a HEA of his own too). A beautiful, heartwarming story that is sweet, sassy, steamy and has a brilliant HEA. So, so good. You should definitely read this whole series! 🥰
I received a free copy and this is my honest review.
Call It Home is a return to the wonderful town of Sterling Mill, small town life with some crazy characters (and Mayor Sterling), and the Allen and Dawson families who show time and again the love and strength of their relationships and loyalty to each other. This is Cam and Mac’s story; it got its hooks into me, and I so enjoyed reading it. It was heartwarming, sweet and very emotional; it actually made me cry a couple of times (a testament to how good Ms. Montgomery’s writing is), and at one stage I doubted that they’d get their issues sorted and get together long term. Cam and Mac partner up to tackle the TV home renovation show, Renovation Station, a competition that showcased both their talents and brought them together in that bubble, but quickly spilled over into real life once back home. Hard for Mac to accept things going well as in his own words, “I’d been let down so many times that I’d learned not to count on anything, especially if it involved anyone else.” Tied between his duty and plans for his incarcerated brother and his love for Cam, he keeps things close, inevitably blowing up his relationship with Cam. Thankfully, this is a romance novel, so we know there’s bound to be a happy outcome. And I loved the way we got to it. I’m assuming Chase, Cam’s twin, and Anna get their go next up. This should make for an interesting story, and I can’t wait!!
M.E. Montgomery was a new-to-me author with her first Sterling Mill book, Call it Fate. As a former military spouse, I wanted to do something to support another milspouse, so I decided to give that book a try and immediately fell in love with the town and people of Sterling Mill! Call it Home is the third book in the series, and you can read it as a standalone title, but I highly recommend the previous books for the best reading experience. It’s a small-town, contemporary romance highlighting the grumpy/sunshine and opposites attract tropes.
This story is, hands down, the best book in the series to date. It packs quite the emotional punch. Mrs. Montgomery definitely upped the ante with Cam and Mac’s relationship. It’s heartwarming, then heartbreaking (OK, more like heart-shattering), then heartwarming all over again—a true emotional rollercoaster with a great deal of angst. Yet, in the end, the people of Sterling Mill come together in that quirky but loveable way they have to save the day. With such lovable and compelling characters (both primary and secondary) you can’t help but fall in love with, I’m excitedly looking forward to more entertaining reads in this series.
NICUnurse’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (And if I could give it more, I would!)
I loved it so much. I freaking loved how close and supportive everyone in the town was. The support system Cameron had with her family was so amazing. They also took in Mac and made him part of the family. Seeing how everyone moved to help each other without hesitation had me crying.
Cam and Mac are amazing characters. Loved seeing how much they both grew through the book. Watching Cam finally start letting go of the past and embracing the future when it comes to her business had me so proud. She was always a baddie but she became so much more than that. Mac always kept to himself and seeing him little by little let people in had me wanting to give him a huge hug. He's someone that's sacrificed so much for his brother and seeing him live a little was truly amazing.
Them together was 🤌. The banter, the sweetness, the chemistry and most importantly the way they believed in each others work had me swooning.
The book had the perfect sweet home town feel. The author wrote it in a way that i felt like I was part of the family. I would read a book about each of the side characters if I could.
"I’d built a lot of houses for a living, but thanks to Cam, I finally knew what “home” should feel like." HE IS SO PRECIOUS I CANNOT HANDLE THIS
This book was amazing! I got pulled into this heartfelt story from the very start and was engrossed till the very end. I really liked Cam's character, her openness and brightness and how she was able to get Mac to open up, despite having experienced her own heartache. The dynamic between them was great, brazen and fun, but a lot of heartfelt and emotional moments as well. The author did a really nice job of bringing the story and characters to life, and I really liked how the town of Sterling Mill was portrayed. It gave me a sense of family and belonging, which totally warmed my heart. The story is filled with emotional moments that will tug at your heartstrings and give you all the feels. Despite the heartbreaking scenes throughout, the story ultimately left me with a warm, happy feeling. I really enjoyed reading Cam and Mac's story. I'm still catching up on the previous books in the series, but when the opportunity to read this one came up, I just couldn't wait! This was a beautifull, sweet, and heartwarming story that I really enjoyed and am glad to recommend! I received a complimentary copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Mac and Cam may seem like the worst duo to possibly work together when he discovers what she’s done, but appearances are so very deceiving. They’re both trying to build a future and a good reputation for themselves. And while the reasons aren’t identical, they’re actually pretty similar once these two stop to think about it. They just have to communicate. Well, one does. The other has it down and is almost irreparably hurt when lack of communication appears to be due to lack of caring.
Have no fear, though. It can be fixed, if everyone puts their minds to it. And if surprise help is accepted along the way. So yeah, these two may not like each other…or they really do and they’re trying not to. And they do start something they both thought wouldn’t hurt. But then they both go above and beyond to save the day when it counts, proving just how wonderful family and friends in this group are to each other.
And now I wonder about Chase. And Trey, honestly. I’m pretty sure we’ll get stories from both of them and I’m 100% here for it.
Cam, became the owner of their family owned construction company when her grandfather passed away, and even after being the boss for the past few years she is still struggling to gain the respect from her male employees. The company is getting fewer contracts as the months go by, and when she took a chance and gave an application to sign her company up for a chance to flip a house on a well known TV show, everything changes.
Mac, vulnerable and alpha hero, what a perfect combination for this hero. His childhood hadn't been easy, Mac and his brother worked very hard for whatever they could get. When his brother was arrested his whole world changed. He found himself in Sterling Mill, working hard for a future for himself and his brother. What he never expected was having a once in a lifetime opportunity, and also Cam coming into his life.
Damn, this book had me feeling all the feels. Cam and Mac were just perfect for each other, the intense chemistry, the steamy moments, to the heartbreaking truths and a family standing up, accepting and loving you. Beautiful.
𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬
Loved catching up with the characters from the previous books.
Chase 💜 can't wait for his book. Trey 💜 hope he gets a book as well.
Cam is determined to honor her grandfather by ensuring that his construction business lives on however the transition has been more difficult than she anticipated. She needs to ensure that people believe the company is stronger than ever and decides the perfect way to prove that is to take part in a reality construction show but convincing Mac, one of her employees, is easier said than done.
Mac is a private man who isn’t open to sharing his past or the family turmoil he is still going through. The financial payout if they will win will go a long way to easing the burden he is experiencing however developing feelings for Cam wasn’t part of the problem and that is when the complications really begin.
Cam and Mac are exactly what the other needs in their life. They are both going through a difficult time which causes some conflict, but they are so much stronger together than apart.
Dare I say that Cam and Mac's story is my favorite one in the Sterling Mill so far? I love the dynamics between these main characters. There's a certain zing--albeit not the undead kind ala Hotel Transylvania--that makes the back and forth so darn entertaining. Seeing them finally giving into that attraction was gratifying, and while the happily-ever-part was a given, the journey getting there wasn't necessarily easy for Cam and Mac. (Side note: Is it weird that I love that their nicknames are palindromes?) Aside from the romance, I also liked the aspect of family, especially with regards to Mac and his older brother, Trey, and how Cam honored her grandfather's legacy while also paving her own way. I appreciated where M.E. Montgomery took Cam and Mac's story, giving them an HEA that they deserved and was very much "them". I'm giving Call It Home five stars, and I can't wait for our return visit to Sterling Mill, Tennessee.
4 1/2 Star Read. Cameron inherits her family construction business when her grandfather dies. She gets the opportunity to become a contestant on a home renovation show and leaps at the chance, but she wants Mackenzie to be her fellow contestant because he's her best employee. But he flat-out refuses since he doesn't like being in the limelight and likes his privacy. However, fate has other ideas and a few subtle threats from Cameron, and he joins her on the show. Mac surprises Cameron with his amazing designer skills on set to help in the competition. The developing romance between the two is heartwarming, and M.E. gives you all the feels throughout the book. will they ever get their HEA? I received an arc for my honest voluntary review. Although this is Book Three in the Sterling Mill Series, it can be read as a stand-alone. If you love a sweet developing romance with some angst, you will enjoy this story of Cameron and Mac.
M.E Montgomery has truly outdone herself once again and delivered another unforgettable and unputdownable addition to her Sterling Mill Series ) Call It Home was so much more then I ever could have asked for and everything I never knew I needed . The type of romance that has the ability to leave you completely speechless, to break your heart one around and put it right back together the next . It’s a emotional rollercoaster that will make you smile , make you laugh, make you cry and keep you rooting so freaking hard from start to finish .Cam and Mack’s journey is definitely not all hearts and flowers it’s filled with angst , humor , witty banter, heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, love , passion , obstacles, second chances, drama, family , friendships and so much more . 💜small town 🖤forced proximity 💜second Chance 🖤workplace romance . If your a fan of any of the following tropes look no future you’ve found the perfect book
M.E. Montgomery has given us another wonderful romance. After getting to know Cam and Mac better, I wanted them together. I loved how they started out attracted to each other and that they respected the other’s skills and then just couldn’t help being drawn deeper into the relationship until they were both in love. I can’t wait to read M.E. Montgomery’s next book! Cameron’s family wasn’t perfect, but she has always had love and support from most of her family. Other than his brother, Mac has never been part of a family. Cameron pulled Mac into her life and family and showed him what it means to be part of a family and have others to rely on. I love getting to catch up with the other couples in Sterling Mill and the cast of townspeople who make things more interesting and sometimes funny. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 Star Review Call It Love (Sterling Mill #5) by M.E. Montgomery
M.E. Montgomery is a relatively new author to me but what I have read I have enjoyed.
This is Chase Allen and Anna Washington’s second chance at love story and it was well written and entertaining.
When Anna returns home to Sterling Mill she is a broken woman. Although Chase is shocked, he offers her the job as his housekeeper and as she has no other options, she accepts.
I liked these characters, they were easy to relate to and I found myself quickly invested in the story that Ms.Montgomery wove.
Chase is protective, alpha and caring and still has feelings for Anna.
Neither are looking for a relationship ship but the attraction that still sizzles between them is intense, impossible to ignore.
Can they come to terms with the past and in doing so create a lasting future.
This is the third book in this incredible series, and this is Cameron and Mac’s journey. Cameron inherits her grandpa’s construction company, and she needs to prove herself in a male dominated world. Cam secretly signs up for a TV renovation show, and she puts Mac, an employee down to partner her, and she now needs to convince him to agree to this, Mac is quiet and closed off, and keeps his cards close to his chest, but he finally agrees. This is a well written story which has passion, humor, witty banter, secrets, emotions, twists, family, friendships, heartbreak, off the chart’s chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Another great book in the series. Now I'm not a huge fan of reality tv, but home renovations are pretty interesting. Cam convinces Mac to team up with her to compete in one. Now these two don't always see eye to eye, but being forced together they see one another in a whole new light. They have great chemistry and banter. It's not too long before why Sterling Mill is so great. This book shows why I love this series so much. Sterling Mill may be a little quirky, but they really show the love in this one. A big family they are. I loved the work Mac does. By the descriptions the custom work sounds beautiful . This is a book you don't want to miss. I can't wait to go back to Sterling Mill again!
I am so glad I got to read this book... It was so good and full of heart. It is the story of Cam and Mac, each with their own background and luggage, they find that their chemistry and connection will be able to conquer all. When they pair up to participate in a Renovation contest, they get a taste of what it feels like to be together and to complement each other. But after the show, will their love be enough for their HEA? It is a really good story of finding yourself, of healing and of family. It was a book really really well written that will forever live in your heart. We need more books like this in our lives 💕 If i could, I would give it more than 5 stars 🤩
Cameron Allen inherited Sterling Construction after her grandfather passed away. Business has slowed and she finds herself looking for new ways to generate business and highlight her love of interior design. Insert MacKenzie Caldwell and a renovation TV show.
These two had immediate chemistry and I was rooting for them from the get go. I loved their connection. The drama throughout the books leads to a very heartwarming conclusion.
This was a wonderful read for me. I look forward to reading more by this author.
"...sometimes the things that scare us the most are the things that are worth taking a risk for."
CALL IT HOME is all about love. It’s not always easy and sometimes hurts but, ultimately, it will fill your heart with warmth and feel like home. Cam and Mac’s tale is exactly like that. It’s a tale of finding your home. The place you are meant to be with a true family who cares about you. From the beginning, this story will take you on a journey with a few ups and downs and a twist or two, but you will surely enjoy the ride. It will tug hard on your heartstrings at times and you’re going to find a few chuckles here and there, but it’s a story that will captivate you from start to finish and keep you turning pages until the very end.
I really enjoyed this story! It was a little long but perfect for a leisurely vacation read. Cam is a woman working in a man’s world, running her grandfather’s construction business, trying to make a name for herself. Mac is a talented woodcrafts man & builder, with a troubled past & a brother depending on him. Cam & Mac come together to complete for a home renovation competition reality show. Add in some close proximity & sparks fly. There are several obstacles they must overcome for their happily ever after. A wonderful story of family, found family, second chances & going the distance for the ones who mean the most.
This is Cameron and Mac’s journey. It is the third book in this incredible series and it’s an entertaining small-town romance. Cameron is trying to prove herself in a male dominated world by running her grandpa’s construction company which she inherits. She has now signed up for a TV renovation show without telling anyone. Now all she has to do is convince quiet and closed of Mac to be her partner. He finally agrees and well the fun begins. I loved the humor in this story. The witty banter as well as the twists and secrets make it even better. This is book you must definitely read do grab it trust me it’s good I highly recommend.
A reality remodeling show and two skilled craftspeople. To say it is complicated is an understatement (and does not even begin to address the show remodel challenges). Anything is possible with Sterling Mill and Mayor Sterling. This is a story that kept me turning the pages. Beloved characters from previous books and new characters as well, the story is rich and keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. Bravo!
I received a free copy of this book via BookFunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Montgomery has written a beautiful love story. I absolutely love the characters of Sterling Mill. They are starting to feel like some of my best friends. An entertaining romance that will have you flipping the pages to see how this story ends.
Cameron Allen owner of Sterling Mills needs the help from an employee Mac Caldwell. The thing is…he does not want to help her out. Cam may have entered them into a tv show that could really help out the small town Construction company. Even though Max doesn’t really want to help, he does for Cam. These two are hilarious together. Opposites who aggravate each other but as time goes on…these two end up getting close. But things don’t always end up how they should.
We go along a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions, we follow along as these two navigate their new normal together. This book has everything a romance reader loves and more.
Cameron, who runs her grandfather's construction business, enters a renovation TV competition and puts down Mac as her partner. Hr is her employee and bespoke carpenter. She now needs to convince him and apologise for not consulting him from the outset. She has a large supportive family and happy disposition. He has an older brother in prison, is quiet and moody, keeps his own counsel. Each has reason to keep secrets, but as they become a couple, things change but do not always work out. The future is there for the taking, providing they can each move away from the past.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved digging into Cameron and Mac's lives, the build up of their relationship, and how that connection deepens as the story progresses. Mac's story twisted my heart, and made me love him even more. There's a great back and forth between them, lightness, depth, sweet, and great heat. Cam is an amazingly strong woman, handling her business, her wants, and going after it! The story flows well, keeps the pages turning, and has me completely in love with this series!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book will have your heart! This story is about Cam and Mac. Cam inherited her construction company from her grandfather when he died and business slowed way down for the business. She needed a way to bring more business in so decided to apply for a television show and she puts Mac down as her partner. After the show, Mac had a hard time believing anyone would want to be close to him that sabotaged his relationship with Cam or did he?
You will need to read this read this find what happens! You will need tissues so keep them handy (or at least I did)! 😊
Cameron runs her grandfather's construction business and enters a renovation TV competition. She than puts down Mac to be her partner. He is works for Cameron Doing her custom carpenter work. Each of them has reasons to keep secrets, but she now needs to convince him and apologize for going behind his back. They have to be able to move on and work as a team. Such a great concept this book is about!
