After her divorce was finalized, Elisabeth McCartney felt adrift, lost. So she decided to escape to her centuries-old family home. People in Pine River had said the house was haunted, but Elisabeth never believed them. Until one night when she heard the voice of a child. She followed the voice…all the way back to 1892.

Elisabeth wasn't prepared to be thrust into a Victorian world. Nor was she prepared for the emotional pull she felt for widower Jonathan Fortner and his daughter, Trista. And yet Elisabeth knew she didn't belong in his time and they could never be together. She also knew that tragedy was in Jonathan and Trista's future. If she stayed in the past, she could save them. But would that mean that they were destined to be separated by time?

The daughter of a town marshal, Linda Lael Miller is a #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of more than 100 historical and contemporary novels, most of which reflect her love of the West. Raised in Northport, Washington, Linda pursued her wanderlust, living in London and Arizona and traveling the world before returning to the state of her birth to settle down on a spacious property outside Spokane.
Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold Fletcher’s Woman in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, mysteries and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Long a passionate Civil War buff, Linda has studied the era avidly for almost thirty years. She has read literally hundreds of books on the subject, explored numerous battlegrounds and made many visits to her favorite, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she has witnessed re-enactments of the legendary clash between North and South. Linda explores that turbulent time in The Yankee Widow, a May 7, 2019 MIRA Books hardcover, also available in digital and audiobook formats.
Dedicated to helping others, “The First Lady of the West” personally financed fifteen years of her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, which she awarded to women 25 years and older who were seeking to improve their lot in life through education. She anticipates that her next charitable endeavors will benefit four-legged critters.

There and Now - Loved the concept of the book, that a closed off door sometimes becomes a passageway to an older part of the house in the late 1800's. Elisabeth moves between these two time periods exploring, researching, trying to help and falling in love. The constant comparison between the time periods was captivating.

Marriage at Circle M - This is the first I have read of this author. It was an enjoyable book. How we deal with our past and what we feel is inadequate. How we feel we need to hide certain parts of ourselves so that others can love us and we can love.

I really like LLM's time travel books, I can see why she says its one of her favorite kind to write. I read Sierras Homecoming & really loved it so I thought I'd give this book a try. Dr. Fortner was a little bit different than her other characters, I'm used to ranchers or cowboy types. I really liked Elizabeth as the female MC, she was modern & still willing to give up so much to be in his time. I like a lot when LLM gives her characters children already too its a nice touch. I love her writing nothing has changed about that.

i was out of books-waiting for some to be delivered and i read every night so i went down to the 2 book shelves in the lobby of my apt's. where i THOUGHT, i'd read every decent book down there and i came upon this one-seeing it was written 25 yrs. ago, and the cover-i'm not attracted to those kinds of covers BUT, i've realized, some actually have a good story in them and this was one of them-i really enjoyed reading it-minus 1 star BECAUSE, the 'one' thing that got these 2 together wasn't handled carefully until the end.
