Joyce Faulkner loves stories -- fiction or non-fiction. She also has a compulsive need to know why. To this end, her work focuses on how her characters react to their environment, to the people around them, to the events of their lives -- and to the various opportunities and disappointments impact their journeys.
She has studied the art of writing since the 1960s -- exploring not the right or wrong of a given approach, but the effectiveness of it on her declared audiences. She likes to manipulate her readers -- challenging them to navigate complex plots to get to the core question...why?
USERNAME by Joyce Faulkner is scary good. Word of Warning it should be read by Mature Audiences. Adult content starts in the Prologue. It is very difficult for me to review a book because I'm trying not to give too much information away.
I think USERNAME is a great book for people to read and learn a lesson while being 'entertained'. It will help people to learn why it is best to always keep your mind towards security and the world around you.
The main characters begin to feel real as the book progresses. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep a reader guessing as to what might happen next all the way until the very end.
Note: I was given this book by a very kind friend.
Username is a thriller - and good as one - but I find it more interesting as a character study and comparison between two criminals. What made them who they are? Is there redemption? How do each feel about their victims?
This one kept me going, thoroughly involved. The characters are well-drawn and anything but predictable.
Can't say much more, for fear of giving away the plot. I don't think you'll be disapointed!
Who is using your USERNAME? If you don't know .....
Joyce Faulkner takes the reader on a journey through a slice of society unknown to most. A chilling glimpse into disturbed minds. An alternate title might be Tales from the Macabre Zone.
I found the stories to be haunting—hard to forget—unsettling. Steven King has competition.
