I love the setting because its in a city and its so cute how they call it new mouse city instead of new York city. And its exactly like a city it has buildings cafes and parks. But the funny part is that there is not a single human only mice and the mice act just like humans wearing clothes and they even have hair .It’s also very interesting when this mouse who goes by the name of Geronimo Stilton and his friends King Thunderhorn Emerald Sterling First volume Vol (an actual book friend) Professor Long wind and Sproutness . I will continue to read this book and I do recommend I really do wish that they had a t.v show for all the series in this book. This book has the right amount of pictures with the right amount of words. And its not like other book with either too many pictures or too many words that makes them to boring or not age appropriate.
I enjoy and am very grateful that they have the kingdom of fantasy books in volumes. That way I can read them in order. This book is a very unique book it its not like any other book I have read. And this is the reason why I love reading these books. When I was little i liked these books because I was little and i just looked at the pictures and tried to read .This book can be for kids to and can be read to them. This book can also help you learn new things and in ways can be very educative.
The fifth book in The Kingdom of Fantasy. This book takes Geronimo Stilton back to The Kingdom of Fantasy to help rescue the Princess of the Fairies. Through the help of his many friends in The Kingdom of Fantasy Geronimo embarks on the journey to find and rescue the princess from her captors and to figure out why they wanted to kidnap her in the first place. Through the help and use of an enchanted medallion that was found, it is Princess Sproutness' given to her by her sister Queen Blossom, Geronimo is able to get himself and his search party out of some very tricky situations. Will the team be able to find the Princess of the Fairies, Princess Sproutness, before the devastating earthquakes and other natural disasters ruin the kingdom for good?
This was a good book, I found it better than some of the other adventures in the Kingdom of Fantasy.
Though I liked it very much but the others were better. When he was going top of the hills he fainted and this was the only adventure in which he dreamt the other 4 were real. I loved this one a lot and hope to read the next one to.
The volcano rose up from the ground, fierce and imposing. Immediately, my fur stood on end.
PROCRASTINATION LEVEL: FEAR (AND LOATHING IN LAS VOLCANO) First of all... what else are volcanoes supposed to be full of.
Geronimo's dropped back into the Kingdom of Fantasy for the fifth time to solve an environmental crisis that morphs into another rescue mission. My biggest memory of this was reading this during the long wait to go see the scoliosis doctor, and I'm actually really surprised because I recalled even less of this than any of the other 4 books. So how does this instalment fare? Come and see:
MOUSE ISLAND 1. Geronimo receives an anonymous letter with a map telling him to meet them atop Marblehead Mountain the next day. Because Geronimo is suuuuuuuch a sportsmouse 2. Geronimo and Benjamin set out to climb the mountain 3. Things immediately go wrong 4. After eating way too many energy bars, Geronimo slips and falls Alice-in-Wonderland style 5. Right into an emerald cave
THE KINGDOM OF THE ELVES 6. He's immediately greeted by Princess Emerald, King Thunderhorn's younger sister 7. So fuck the Dragon of the Rainbow huh 8. Geronimo at least has the good sense to be confused about how this all happened 9. Em: This is one of the secret entrances to the Kingdom of the Elves. Reveal it to no one. Geronimo: yes of course your secret is safe with me (NEXT PAGE IS A DETAILED CENTREFOLD MAP OF THE KINGDOM OF THE ELVES COMPLETE WITH THE SECRET ENTRANCE) 10. The problem that Geronimo has to solve are earthquakes 11. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #1: falling into an abyss 12. Princess Em explicitly says she's been in earthquakes before. But later, Geronimo finds out that there have never been earthquakes in the Kingdom of Fantasy before. Make up your mind. 13. Geronimo finds an elfin history wall in the Elves' castle depicting the powerful and touching scene of Thunderhorn saving his life in the last book. It's captioned with "Friends Forever". PLEASEEEE 14. Thunderhorn reveals that he needs Geronimo to find out why the earthquakes are happening bc the information can only be found in The Great Explanatorium but he's too embarrassed to go there himself bc it means he'd have to face his old teacher after being such a horrible student 15. It helps that Geronimo *is* in fact a bookish mouse
THE GREAT EXPLANATORIUM 16. Em leaves Geronimo at the Great Explanatorium to fetch her besties Sterling and Sproutness 17. Geronimo discovers that the procedure to get his questions answered is akin to American DMV rules and freaks out 18. They let him speak to Professor Longwind directly 19. It's completely useless 20. He's called Longwind for a reason 21. Yada yada yada 22. Geronimo discovers an alternate way to get things done. He goes to the Explanatorium's library and shouts his question, causing a bombardment of books regarding earthquakes and volcanoes to come flying at him 23. Honestly Geronimo's greatest KoF feat yet is only taking a day and a night to finish reading that humongous pile of books 24. But because we have 200 pages left, none of the books can explain why the earthquakes are happening 25. He learns that he needs to go to the epicentre of the earthquake though 26. And of course the epicentre is the Volcano of Fire 27. Geronimo leaves and goes to sleep under a tree. He wakes up to find Thunderhorn, Em and Sterling 28. The REAL problem is that their friend Sproutness is missing, probably kidnapped since she left behind her magic rainbow medallion that can grant 7 wishes 29. By the way, Sproutness is the Princess of the Fairies and Queen Blossom's younger sister 30. Y'know, none of this would ever have happened if the fairies learnt some basic self-defence or something. 31. Geronimo makes his first wish for them to be led to Sproutness. She's on holiday in Tunisia. OF COURSE SHE'S IN THE FUCKING VOLCANO 32. Thunderhorn immediately shoos his sister away to go run the kingdom of Elves even though Sproutness is HER friend and HE is the king. 33. Literally why tho 34. Anyway it takes 7 days and 7 nights to get there but our heroes finally make it to
THE VOLCANO OF FIRE 35. The theme of this book is fear. Y'know, in case that wasn't clear 36. Anyway the journey team's name in this one is once again The Fantasy Company but this name is never actually used. 37. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #2: sitting on an active geyser 38. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #3: a second earthquake 39. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #4: nearly drowning trying to grab his bag after knocking it into a roaring river. He uses his second wish to tractor-beam it back. 40. Geronimo finds that Vol, a sentient encyclopedia from the Explanatorium library, snuck into his bag because he wants to be an adventure novel. 41. Vol is designed like an Illumination Studios character: unimaginative and completely annoying 42. You couldn't have had Sterling summon one of her dragons instead?? 43. Anyway back to our journey 44. Because now the Company must CLIMB THE VOLCANO. 45. But Geronimo is afraid of heights and volcanoes and fire. So Vol helps to cover Geronimo's eyes as they climb. 46. This actually works 47. Inside the Volcano are the Gnomes though!!!! 48. No wait, these Gnomes are evil. 49. I'm starting to suspect that the illustrators went on strike because the Gnomes' children are just copy-pasted miniature versions of the adults. No really. 50. Also explains why the art in this generally looks and feels like a step down 51. Anyway they realise that these evil Gnomes of Fire have a weakness. Of water. 52. M Night Shyamalan called he wants his cut of the profits 53. Thunderhorn says he knows a guy who can make it rain AND owes him a favour. Sterling calls her dragon Sparkle and they go and find him. 54. Thunderhorn's guy is a pirate on a sky-ship. Geronimo finds this out the hard way.
THE BRONZE ANCHOR 55. Captain Coldheart does not seem to remember he owes Thunderhorn a favour as he gets his monster crew to throw Geronimo, Thunderhorn and Vol in the brig with Sterling 56. Sterling gets mad at Thunderhorn and the two proceed to bicker 57. The next day Coldheart reveals his soft side in secrecy and explains that his crew will not respect him if he doesn't pretend to be coldhearted. But he agrees to make it rain and clear the Volcano of Gnomes and Fire 58. The Company go into the volcano but earthquake tremors immediately catch up with them 59. Geronimo uses his third wish to save Thunderhorn and Sterling before they fall into a hole 60. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #5: promptly knocked unconscious by falling rocks 61. When Geronimo wakes up he finds that he is in fact not in the volcano anymore, but instead safe and sound in
THE CITY OF THE BLUE UNICORNS 62. Apparently after saving Thunderhorn and Sterling, Geronimo fell into the hole instead after getting conked, to which Captain Coldheart had to fish him out and take him here to recuperate 63. Which was 3 days and 3 nights 64. Get rekt Gerry Berry 65. Geronimo gets dressed to thank King Skywings for healing him. Skywings prepares to tell Geronimo the "secret of the Blue Unicorns" but is interrupted by Vol bc of COURSE 66. Skywings is a dissociative king and I have no choice but to stan 67. He leads Geronimo outside to show him the secret but Geronimo destroys a sign pole that indicates which fountain is which, and puts them back randomly. This isn't important though 68. Meanwhile he passes by Thunderhorn and Sterling already having a duel on the rim of a fountain and they both fall in when he says hi to them 69. It's the Fountain of Love 70. bruh moment 71. Anyway the secret of the Blue Unicorns is that their fountains are magical. Wow! Who knew??? 72. Skywings uses the Fountain of Truth to show Geronimo where Sproutness is held prisoner. They also see creatures called Diggerts. Those two things are probably related. 73. Before they go, Skywings gives everyone a grand buffet..... of hay and flowers 74. Thunderhorn is the only one who can eat any of it lmao 75. Geronimo secretly wishes for the food to be gourmet cheese. And the medallion obeys. 76. This nearly causes a diplomatic accident, and Geronimo desperately wishes that he hadn't done that. AND THE MEDALLION OBEYS AGAIN. 77. Now that oopsy never happened but now he's down to 2 medallion wishes 78. The unicorns fly the Company for yet another 3 days and 3 nights to
THE KINGDOM OF THE DIGGERTS 79. which is a dark, unguarded cave near some random mountains 80. Geronimo uses his penultimate wish to wish for, smartly, light. 81. Geronimo becomes horrifyingly terrified crossing a toothpick-thin bridge 82. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #6: the bridge crumbles with him still on it 83. The hell is Sterling's braid made out of???? 84. The Company fall into the equivalent of a sewer and a Saw trap 85. Right into the company of an army of green little monsters 86. Geronimo escapes with Vol through an upwards sewer grate as Thunderhorn and Sterling stay behind to fight 87. They end up in a royal bathroom, very helpfully indicated by THE ROYAL BATHROOM OF THE KING T. T. above the sink 88. Vol's annoyingness gives them away, causing them to be noticed and captured along with Thunderhorn and Sterling by the surrounding Diggerts and their King 89. "King T. T." is the King of the Diggerts. Also his first name is Tyler. 90. Copy-pasting art is my passion!!!!! 91. King Tyler explains that the true villain all along is Sludge, who kidnapped Sproutness along with all Diggert women and children, and is forcing Tyler's subjects to mine for repulsive-smelling stinkstone 92. The only way for the Company to infiltrate is to dress them up as Diggerts and make them dig for stinkstone as well in order not to be noticed 93. Geronimo tries to figure out what Sludge is, but everyone gives him a different description of a monster. He concludes that Sludge is a shapeshifter akin to Pennywise the Clown. 94. The Company finds out where Sludge's lair is. Apparently, they want to make a stinkstone cage to fully weaken Sproutness so they can extract her fairy powers. 95. While concocting a plan to fight Sludge and his army, Geronimo gets trapped after walking into a wall. No legit 96. SLUDGE APPEARS AS A HUGE CAT 97. Geronimo pulls an It Chapter Two and proclaims that he is not afraid, causing Sludge to revert to his true form as a shapeless mud blob 98. This works for about 2 seconds before he hypnotises Geronimo and makes him fall asleep 99. Deadass? 100. Geronimo wakes up in Sproutness' prison just as Sludge is conveniently about to flip the switch and take Sproutness' powers! Oh no!!!!! 101. Suddenly it floods 102. This immediately solves everything 103. Why was there a river in the villain's lair if water is his weakness 104. No seriously 105. Geronimo uses his last wish to tractor-beam Sproutness to safety 106. GERONIMO'S BRUSH WITH DEATH #7: neglecting to save himself from nearly drowning AGAIN 107. The captured Diggerts are freed and row everyone out. However their caverns are now flooded and ruined 108. Thunderhorn offers them all a new mountain in his Kingdom to live in on the condition they never mine for stinkstone ever again. Speaking of which:
THE KINGDOM OF THE ELVES AGAIN 109. Our heroes return, where the Elves have repaired all the natural disasters their kingdom suffered 110. Geronimo is gifted the key to the kingdom 111. THUNDERHORN PROPOSES TO STERLING 112. Geronimo questions if they only love each other because they fell in the Love Fountain, but Vol says that love is already fated, the fountain just kinda helps encourage it. Well ok 113. DRAGON OF THE RAINBOW MY BELOVED
MOUSE ISLAND AGAIN 114. Oh well never mind 115. Trap revives Geronimo and they all resume mountain climbing despite Geronimo having literally woken up from being knocked unconscious 116. They reach the top 117. The whole thing was a surprise birthday party 118. Thea and Petunia present Geronimo with a key to "everyone's hearts" 119. BUT HMMMM WHERE HAVE WE SEEN THAT KEY BEFORE?????
WHERE THE FEAR HAS GONE THERE WILL BE NOTHING: A RETROSPECTIVE So I bet I know what you're thinking...... thank God that's over. Not only was this super mistitled - our heroes barely make it into the Volcano of Fire, which wasn't even the cause of the main problem - it also misses the huge opportunity to tell its important message of how one should try to face their fears with this bungled mishmash of a story. It feels so all over the place and even UNPLANNED. Why in God's name was there a river in the Sludge's lair if water is his literal weakness???
I felt like nothing in this actually mattered. The only remotely interesting thing in this being Sproutness' wish-granting medallion. Other than that everything feels more slipshod as a whole, and I hate to say that this also extends to the ART. The beautiful trademark charm that colours the illustrations of KoF are just NOT here. The faces are barely given any care and everything is framed in such uninspiring ways. And if you think for a SECOND I'm buying into that Fountain of Love crap--
(microphone screech)
TL;DR: what a flop. And what a shame. Facing your fears is such an important theme OOZING with potential and this story just let it burn into nothing. Is there even ANYTHING that can redeem this? I sure can't think of one! But is this as bad as Quest for Paradise???? I'm on the fence about that. Because I know that all these books mean well. I know that if you're willing to look past the infantile bits, you might actually just learn a valuable thing or two.
And that, I have.
It's that if this can get published, what the hell am I so afraid of? -- 1.5* -- pre-reread review: i realise now, only a full 9 years later, that volcanoes are SUPPOSED to be full of fire. what gives? anyway this is the one where Sterling and Thunderhorn get together after falling into some love fountain isn't it :/
Really enjoyed this one, again. 3.5 stars Books I've read for orilium 1. A Wolf Called Wander - class: shapeshifting, calling: faewild cartographer 2. The Night Before Christmas - quest 3. Where Dreams Descend - class: inscription, calling: faewild cartographer 4. Parron Europa - class: animal studies, calling: alchemist 5. The City of Brass - class: alchemy, calling: faewild cartographer 6. Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Faries - class: astronomy, calling: Faewild Cartographer 7. A Dowry of Blood - quest 8. Fantasia V - quest
Solition receive a letter from a stranger. It has written extremely urgent on the cover. Now Soliton was scared to open the package. But he has to open it.Soliton took a take breath and open the letter.the letter says. Tomorrow meet me at the top of the Marblehead Mountain. What can happen on the top of the mountain he thought. Is any thing dangerous waiting for him.
This book was amazing! I loved the story twist towards the end and I absolutely just fell in love with the amount of creativity that the artist and author put into it! I can't help but feel more accomplished when I express my love for this series and how it is turning out to be so good and really great! Amazing! Mesmerizing! Everything that you could have ever possibly wanted in one!
Geronimo Stilton went to kingdom of fantasy for a fifth time. The elves has called him there. The Volcano of fire was destroying the kingdom of elves. And the Princess of Fairies the had been kidnapped. Great adventure!
10/10 https://open.spotify.com/track/1aYhES...
