I enjoyed this, especially since the author was a retired Scotland Yard detective who was very famous for tracking down notorious criminals. It was not the equal of Frank L. Packard or Edgar Wallace for complexity or story development but it was fun nonetheless.

So many twists & up & downs!

This is a wonderful book, where the heroine is accused of murder. Well when someone who is in love with a person knowing this person as anything but a murderer! So here the whole stage was set for the criminal to manipulate the parties for what he wanted, money of course. Lots of money! Even he is tricked in what he believes is the truth. The victim even had her picture in his pocket plus a marriage certificate with her name on it. All this time Jimmy Silverdale has known the lovely Hilary Sloane she never mentioned being married. So why does she want to sneak off without any questions asked, & why is her picture in the murdered mans pocket? Its a great mystery, I really like the Chief Inspector Grarfeild here & look forward to more of his books. My only thing I'm Jimmie won't be in the rest of them! I'll just have to see for myself. I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did. Of course I really love all of these books from this time in history. I'm so happy they were preserved for us fixture readers. It give a whole new light in the how things were investigated. At least there were phone for them during this time in history. Another thing that I really, really like is the location, London! I read some of the ones that take place here in the USA, but my favorite ones are when Scotland Yard is in it. This book is the New Scotland Yard. Enjoy!!
