The Voice of God

Many Christians question whether prophecy is stil a valid gift in today's world. In this practical, biblical examination of the gift of prophecy, you'll get a clear picture of what prophecy is and how it works - in the lives of individuals through personal prophecy and in entire churches and groups through corporate prophecy.

Some truly excellent material in this book.

Rewarding insights included:
    *    the differences between true and false prophets in the Old Testament
    *    the interpretation of 'immediately', 'this day', 'now' and 'soon' were especially helpful; 'immediately' meaning one day to three years, 'now' meaning one to forty years and 'soon' meaning any time up to and beyond two thousand years.
    *    the fact Saul lost his kingdom 38 years after Samuel said 'now'. (Interesting since I personally have found 38 years to be the period before generational iniquity can be dealt with - and if anyone had generational curses to deal with, it was Saul, coming as he did from an ancestral line where the men were survivors of genocide and the women trophies of war.)
    *    the excellent section on presumption

My one quibble was the statement that Agabus did not make a true 100% accurate prophecy in Acts 21:10-11. My personal feeling is that it is recorded because it is so accurate; perhaps not down to pedantic literal detail but totally in the spirit of what was to happen.

Interested in what prophecy is all about these days? Cindy gives great teaching from her years of ministry and asks a few pertinent questions at the end of each chapter. If you want to understand all types of prophecy and mentoring relationships, this is the book to start with. She recommends several other books and many Scriptures to assist you.

A very comprehensive explanation on prophets and how they hear the voice of God. I get the impression that prophecy is a gift with which some Christians are blessed. This book is a guide for those who have the gift, and how they should use it. It is very practical, with a lot of illustrations from Cindy Jacob's own life and experience.

This was exactly the book I was looking for. Tons of good advice for anyone at early stages of prophetic ministry, or anyone desiring to grow in the gift. I've read a few books on the subject and this is the most comprehensive one so far. If you are wanting more specifics on certain areas like, say dream interpretation, this is a good jumping off point but doesn't go super deep on any one topic.

Es un buen libro, sin embargo, desde mi punto de vista, la autora quiso abarcar muchos temas importantes, sin poder ahondar en ellos. El tema principal está bien desrrollado

"I believe that one of the hallmarks of good leaders is their ability to replicate themselves in the anointing of God has given them. Many young Timothys and Esthers are yearning to be instructed." ~ Cindy Jacobs, The Voice of God, p. 1, para. 2.

Good counsel given through this book on prophecy; however, not an exhaustive book on the gift of prophecy. I liked how Cindy Jacobs weaves prayer into the prophecy equation.

I only gave 3 stars because I did not find that this book covered the topic of prophecy thoroughly. However, I will be reading the other book Cindy Jacobs mentions that she wrote called, "Possessing the Gates of the Enemy".

Cindy paints a beautiful, Scriptural picture of what the prophetic gifts offers to the Church when done decently and in order. She is candid with her mistakes and humble with her stories off great success. Reading it felt like having coffee with a very wise and experienced friend.
