1º estágio: sustentar a atenção no momento presente.
2º estágio: atenção silenciosa no momento presente.
3º estágio: atenção silenciosa na respiração no momento presente.
4º estágio: plena atenção ininterrupta na respiração.
5º estágio: plena atenção ininterrupta na respiração bela.
6º estágio: experimentando o nimitta (sinal mental) belo.
7º estágio: primeiro Jhana (estado elevado de consciência).

Wonderful book that will help you deep dive into meditation. it talks about the seven stages of meditations. and you can upgrade only one step after the previous one. This one coming from the Master who has already lived that experience in his life, is a true gem. The book is from my spiritual mentor's mentor, who is an awakened spiritual soul deep delved into meditations.
must read and understand to do the meditations the right way. short 30 pages book, but very powerful.

Excellent and easy to understand introduction to meditation, especially for the lay person.
I find it helpful to know what kind of signs to be aware of if I'm jumping too far ahead of my practise.
My only criticism is in my particular edition (yellow cover) some words have no spaces between them due to the formatting. This is a minor inconvenience but an oversight nonetheless.

if you can't get to access concentration just by "observing the breath" then you'll find this book useful. the most common criticism in pa auk's method is the lack of instruction and support from first sit to first jhana. all they tell you is observe the breath. well, the thai forest monks are here to save the day! this is only part 1 though, there a part 2 booklet called the jhanas.
