Com dicas simples para quem está iniciando ou quer aperfeiçoar o processo de meditação, só não confunda simples com fácil. Trabalha com o conceito de estágios, sendo sete ao todo, e como eles devem ser trabalhados passo a passo, de forma a se criar uma base de sustentação conforme se avança no processo.
1º estágio: sustentar a atenção no momento presente.
2º estágio: atenção silenciosa no momento presente.
3º estágio: atenção silenciosa na respiração no momento presente.
4º estágio: plena atenção ininterrupta na respiração.
5º estágio: plena atenção ininterrupta na respiração bela.
6º estágio: experimentando o nimitta (sinal mental) belo.
7º estágio: primeiro Jhana (estado elevado de consciência).

Excellent and easy to understand introduction to meditation, especially for the lay person.

I find it helpful to know what kind of signs to be aware of if I'm jumping too far ahead of my practise.

My only criticism is in my particular edition (yellow cover) some words have no spaces between them due to the formatting. This is a minor inconvenience but an oversight nonetheless.

if you can't get to access concentration just by "observing the breath" then you'll find this book useful. the most common criticism in pa auk's method is the lack of instruction and support from first sit to first jhana. all they tell you is observe the breath. well, the thai forest monks are here to save the day! this is only part 1 though, there a part 2 booklet called the jhanas.

Amazing little book, explains what to focus on at different stages along the way. Provides some clarity on the whole process.
