It’s a wonderful book that takes you back well over a hundred years when we still had miles and miles of unspoilt countryside. The railways spread out from London and suburbia followed.
If I could just travel back a century to experience that piece and tranquility that once existed not much more than a dozen miles from here it would be a journey well spent.
