This book is hoooot 🔥
It starts off with a bit of an outrageous premise - a billionaire making a deal to sell his company for one night with a hellcat of a billionaire heiress.
I love Rebecca’s billionaires and their worlds - blasé attitudes, dirty mouths, wild decisions. I love how she writes women that are bold in a rich man’s world, who tells them to f-off and where to stuff it. And the men match the attitude and/or obey.
This book is the epitome of “give as good as you get”. Gus and Julia’s back and forth barbs and hatred and lust and more importantly, their jockeying for power, is so fun and so hot. They’re both stubborn; Gus’ a more cool, collected and arrogant sort while Julia’s is a cat with its claws out at times.
I was reading this and thinking well, sh!t, do I…do I like Gus more than Everett? Gus might turn out to be my fave. And his name is GUS. By the end I will say I think Everett from Tips and Trysts is still my fave Rebecca Kinkade man (so far - I’ve got 5 of her books left to read), but Gus took second from Davis (The Intern).
I just love how he handles her and her brattiness, they rile each other up and he pushes her buttons but he also gets her and knows how to let her have her tantrum and wrangle her from afar. It’s so hot, that confidence he has. And I really loved that bit of insecure vulnerability he had deep down that was holding him back but Julia makes him bring it, that she knew her worth and so did he.
This book is *very* spicy (no surprise from Rebecca) - so be aware.
Anyway, another great book - as always, I absolutely love Rebecca’s writing style which stands out across all of her books. It’s just got such a tone to it that often makes me laugh. This book was a nice end to this short series of standalones. I will always recommend her books - this one is no exception!
