Two multinational companies. A fifty-billion-dollar deal. A twisted, taboo contract. Everything is riding on one steamy night between a billionaire’s daughter and a stormy CEO.
Accomplished, acerbic, and infamously attractive CEO Gus Winter is finally going to sell his company to Davenport-Ridgeway—a move insiders have anticipated for fifteen years. It’s the deal of the century. On the other hand, jet-setting socialite Julia Ridgeway, whose billionaire father is the Chairman of Davenport-Ridgeway, couldn’t care less about the acquisition if she tried. So, it’s no surprise she doesn’t realize the insanely hot man she verbally decimated at her father’s birthday party just so happens to be—you guessed it—Gus Winter. Now, Gus refuses to sell his company…unless Julia spends one night with him.
But what Gus doesn’t realize is that nobody can tell Julia Ridgeway what to do. Not her billionaire father, not her ambitious older brother, and definitely not Gus. She’ll agree to Gus’s terms, but there’s no way she’s going to make it easy. But that’s perfect because Gus had zero intention of making it easy for the quick-witted heiress who rejected him either.
With everything riding on these two alphas (who couldn’t have less in common…other than a magnetic, ravenous, physical attraction to the other) the deal is uncertain. In fact, only one thing is Julia and Gus both pissed off the wrong billionaire.
Taking Over is a full-length standalone, alpha male, enemies-to-lovers romance novel about two strong-willed billionaires who are used to getting what they want…until they meet each other. Teeming with dark sarcasm and international hookups with a slight age gap, this novel has no cheating or cliffhangers. This novel contains high steam scenes and dialogue. HEA guaranteed!
This is the third novel in the Billionaire’s Successor series, but can be read independently.
Rebecca Kinkade is a Mexican/Filipina-American contemporary romance author who writes competent leads who work hard and love harder. She currently lives in Los Angeles and assumes that makes her inherently interesting. She has a BA and an MBA and is 100% positive that the most valuable thing she got out of those experiences was content for her books.
I don't know why but this series is quite addicting. From the moment I read about these two in the previous book I wanted to read their story. If you have read any book in the series you should know what to expect, many steamy scenes, great banter and a good enemies to lovers story. 3 ⭐
Damn. Damn. Damn. This book was HOT HOT HOT!!! I loveddddddd Julia & August. Seriously the chemistry between these two hot and cold messed up people was off the charts crazyyyy!!
Took me 2 days to finish this entire series and I need more. Pleaseee I need more. I need Peter’s story!!!
Holy Cow - Rebecca Kinkade like WTH did I just read! You'll want to read book 2 before reading this one - as the storyline starts there. But the premise that a billionaire would jeopardize a multi billion dollar deal for a woman - shouldn't work but dang it did! MMC Gus is pretty much the typical billionaire character - (on the surface at least). And FMC Julia is a billionaire's daughter - on the surface jet setting, partying, wearing fashion and being a social media influencer - again at least on the surface. She leads this man around the globe basically and couldn't really care about the deal that hinges on her! But in true Rebecca Kinkade style - what's under the surface is the true gold. Gus selling his company and looking to "leave his legacy" and Julia looking for "more" in her life that's real. The heat between these two is *chef's kiss*. I can go on and on about the banter, the way they challenge each other, the over the top peek into a life style that's got people private jetting all over the place. I also love, while this is an age gap - Julia is 28 and has lived her life before having her HEA with a man 15 years her senior. Besides, I kept forgetting Gus was "old" lol
It starts off with a bit of an outrageous premise - a billionaire making a deal to sell his company for one night with a hellcat of a billionaire heiress.
I love Rebecca’s billionaires and their worlds - blasé attitudes, dirty mouths, wild decisions. I love how she writes women that are bold in a rich man’s world, who tells them to f-off and where to stuff it. And the men match the attitude and/or obey.
This book is the epitome of “give as good as you get”. Gus and Julia’s back and forth barbs and hatred and lust and more importantly, their jockeying for power, is so fun and so hot. They’re both stubborn; Gus’ a more cool, collected and arrogant sort while Julia’s is a cat with its claws out at times.
I was reading this and thinking well, sh!t, do I…do I like Gus more than Everett? Gus might turn out to be my fave. And his name is GUS. By the end I will say I think Everett from Tips and Trysts is still my fave Rebecca Kinkade man (so far - I’ve got 5 of her books left to read), but Gus took second from Davis (The Intern).
I just love how he handles her and her brattiness, they rile each other up and he pushes her buttons but he also gets her and knows how to let her have her tantrum and wrangle her from afar. It’s so hot, that confidence he has. And I really loved that bit of insecure vulnerability he had deep down that was holding him back but Julia makes him bring it, that she knew her worth and so did he.
This book is *very* spicy (no surprise from Rebecca) - so be aware.
Anyway, another great book - as always, I absolutely love Rebecca’s writing style which stands out across all of her books. It’s just got such a tone to it that often makes me laugh. This book was a nice end to this short series of standalones. I will always recommend her books - this one is no exception!
📚⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 huge in your face stars for Rebecca Kinkades latest novel: Taking Over This is book 3 of The Billionaire's Successor series and as much as I loved the previous two, this is by far my favourite. In fact, it might just be my favroutie book from her ever. This book picks up just at the end of The Intern at Senior Ridgeways Birthday party, where we meet Heiress Julia Ridgeway and CEO Gus Winters. After battling off old, horny men throughout the evening, Julia's pateince has worn thin and her tongue is extra sharp. Hell hath no fury like a woman who's pissed off! Gus Winter doesn't know whats hit him, when for the first time, his money and status mean nothing and the woman he is interested in doesn't want to give him the time of day. This kickstarts a cat and mouse game that takes them across continents and bedrooms. Now both characters have thier flaws but that's what makes this story so beautiful. It's intelligent, sexy, funny and brilliantly written. It's out on April 12th, go pre-order!
"Gus is like sexual radiation. The longer I remain in his proximity, the more he surrounds me, seeps into my skin, poisons me."
Are you kidding me right now!? Julia Ridgeway is a badass who brings a reclusive billionaire to his knees and leaves him there through this whole book, I’m so here for every bit of this book. Julia is a globetrotter and a billionaires daughter who makes her own money being a social media influencer. She’s beautiful, smart, and tired of relationships being so unsatisfying.
August (Gus) Winter, a self-made billionaire and founder of a fintech company is also a quiet and reclusive man who hasn’t gotten close to a woman in 20 years because the last time he did it ended in an embarrassing disaster he’d rather not repeat. He sees Julia Ridgeway and suddenly finds himself giving up his company for one night with her.
I loved this book so much. The spice is super hot 🥵 both the main characters are strong willed and quick witted, neither is used to not getting their way so watching them both push each others buttons by denying what they both want made things really interesting. The banter is phenomenal and I found myself laughing at several moments.
Now this is what I call an AMAZING read! It's full of steamy moments, great alpha mc's, great places all over the world and soooo much more!
Gus and Julia meet at a birthday party and while Julia loves visiting all the party places on earth, Gus is going to sell his business for some billions for a very good trade. OMG! Yeah... it gets hot and I just love both Julia and Gus. And the last chapters... Julia's birthday present she shows her dad... it's beautiful!
It's a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading The Intern and Public Rivalry. They're so good as well!
If you’re like me, you’ll initially find Julia and Gus so unlikeable, both intensely prickly and conceited. Don’t let that first impression stop you from continuing the book—this story contained some of the most smoking hot sex scenes I’ve ever read. The two were absolutely perfect for each other and it was a beautiful thing when they figured it out. Rebecca Kinkade continues to impress me! Her work is woefully under the radar and I hope that changes soon.
Julia Ridegway and August Winter may be the wildest of Rebecca’s couples (and that says a lot!). The way they get together is unconventional.. everything about them is unconventional, but I love them and their story.
Also, this is one of the best epilogues I’ve ever read. It updated on all the characters and even brought a few tears to my eyes.
Okay, there’s so much going on in this freaking story, yet it’s understandable. While I couldn’t stand Gus, like I REALLY don’t like him, he is hot! The way the dynamic is between Gus and Julia is perfect. Both are very dominant people and neither want to give in. It’s literally the same person, just the masculine and feminine versions. Anyway, I’m not a huge fan of how Gus thinks but it makes sense to the story. Oh and did I mention it’s really hot!
Okay I’m OBSESSED with Gus and Julia. Yes it may be an understatement of that it’s unconventional how they got together but oh man these two just burn so hot for each other. The way Gus keeps chasing after Julia because he knows what he wants is literally everything. When we saw what went down in her brothers story I immediately knew I needed more of them. Am I ready to say goodbye to D-R though? Absolutely not and here’s to wishing for more in the future.
Again, I will read whatever Rebecca Kinkade writes even though this wasn't one of my personal faves.
Great writing as expected. Great plot and tension and spice. I just couldn't get over the premise of the romance. I really liked the FMC's character though.
Would read again if I were to do a re-read of the series.
First time reading for this author and I absolutely loved this book I now need to read the other two standalones in the series. If you want steam this is for you, heartache, hatred, love, forced apart and bribery it has everything you want in a book.
This might be my favorite one of this series. Julia and Gus are pure perfection and chapter 19 is pure fire. Julia is such a strong female lead and Gus compliments her perfectly. Rebecca really outdid herself with this one.
I’ve only skimmed Gray and Davis’s books so I really hesitated reading TO, considering the premise. Gus and Julia…they are explosive together. Their arrangement doesn’t happen right away, so their build up makes this situation less unsavory.
📸Enemies-to-Lovers 💵Billionaire X Influencer Billionaire Heiress 📸Black Cat FMC X Alpha Male MMC 💵Age Gap (H is 43, h is 28) 📸Kinky Sexploration 💵So. Much. Spice!
surprise, surprise, another Rebecca Kinkade book that i gobbled up in 24 hours. 🤭 i am so obsessed with this world! they’re billionaires but the way she writes makes it all still seem soooo real.
honestly the whole reason Julia & Gus’ relationship started was wiiiillldddddd but i was still rooting for them the whole time! Julia is my fav FMC from this world i think.
sad because i only have like 3 more of her books to read. 🥲 patiently waiting for more of her work!!
5⭐️ Sooo slayy. Not my fav out of the series but soooo good and I’m pissed that this is the end. I wanna hear about Quinn and Kieran!! I want to see Elizabeth and Walsh get together!!! Also where the hell was Corrine and Gray in this book? ALSOO why the hell was I lowkey sad about Ridgeway Seniors passing?? No shade but like he’s just a billionaire who acted like an asshole most of the time but it still got under my skin a little bit. Like woah, plot twist. I blame all of the non viewers/readers for failing to keep this story alive. Fuck yall. I will start a petition to keep this story alive by god.

Once again, Rebecca Kinkade turned an outrageous premise into a steamy yet emotional romance. Like the characters in the other books in this series, there is more to Julia and Gus than meets the eye. While their relationship starts as an unconventional arrangement, it doesn’t take them long to realize there is more to their relationship than their arrangement. I love that the author writes characters who are vulnerable and not afraid to express their emotions. It’s not something I often find in romances that are steamier, so I appreciate someone who can balance the two.
