Proverbs was an inspirational book for me, a story of a man who wanted his son to be knowing of all matters, ignorant of nothing. In the spirit of this, I've recorded learnings of what worked in my journey with the hope that these experiences may help others as well.

Helpful guide for new parents or anyone seeking an alternative perspective
This short book of Proverb-like statements has three main sections (parenting basics, teenage years, and all years/ages) with two brief addendum s (original quotes and favorite old quotes). Although this book was inspired by the Bible’s Book of Proverbs, this is an original work based upon the author’s life journey. Right out of the gate Aegelis opines there are two ways to learn - making mistakes or heeding wise advice. The author followed up with regardless of how one learns “take your own notes!”
Aegelis proposed three basic laws of parenting: compliance, no defiance, and no deception. These simple household rules can help establish fundamental expectations between parent and child that is rooted in fairness and mutual benefit. The author does note an important nuance where a good parent does “what is in the best interests of everyone in the house, whereas a tyrant commands others to do things for the tyrant’s own benefit.” During the teenage years the author proposed four pillars of protection for a child’s health, safety, truth, and future.
As parent for two decades, this book will help new parents or those searching for an alternative perspective. The traditional parental approach espoused is rooted in fairness, equality, and mutual respect. In addition, this book contains useful relationship advice based upon similar values. For example, a healthy marriage was succinctly summarized into being king and sharing joy with each other. At the conclusion of the book, the author shared several maxims that the reader can internalize and contemplate.
An interesting series of observations on a variety of topics from parenting to emotions and relationships. What I found helpful was the authors ability to use sources from religion and spirituality in a way that inviting rather than rigid or dogmatic.
I was drawn to this book because it’s very close to my name. It’s a book about proverbs – or teaching lessons and Sophizo means “…to make wise”. The proverbs are religious based on teachings of Solomon and wise men from the bible. This book is useful, not only to the religious followers, but everyone can also glean advice and knowledge from these words of wisdom. Ways to avoid conflict in our lives and especially how to be a good parent. Recommended.
