Not only is he always around, but he’s the hottest and cockiest guy I've ever met.
One night in Vegas later and the next thing I know, he’s also my husband.
I may not have a lot of things figured out in life, but I do know that getting him to sign those papers before anyone in my family or his learns our secret, is at the top of my list. Of course, he says no when I ask him. He loves to drive me insane.
Now, I don’t know why he won’t give me what I want, but the moment a pipe bursts in my brother's basement where I'd been staying, Beck Robertson is there to save the day with a spare room for the taking.
Ignore the fact his house is my dream home, or that he likes routine as much as I do, or that he hates wearing shirts inside, or that he’s funny and his smile makes me forget why I don’t like him—I have a goal to accomplish.
If I can’t get him to sign those papers with my words, becoming the worst roommate of all time is clearly the answer. He can say no all he wants, but he’s forgetting one little thing. Failure is not in my vocabulary. Unfortunately for me, it’s not in his either.
✔️Enemies to Lovers ✔️Forced Proximity ✔️Brother's Best Friend ✔️Married in Vegas ✔️Slow Burn
The chemistry between Calla and Beck was undeniable. I couldn't stop reading their story. Calla's antics trying to annoy Beck into asking for a divorce had me giggling out loud and had me wondering if he was going to retaliate somehow. I love that he continued trying to make her see how good they would be together if she would agree to give it a chance. I really enjoyed watching them finally find their way to a happily ever after.
While this is the 3rd book in the Love or Bust series, I did not feel like I was missing anything from by not reading the first two books before diving into this one. I already love this group of friends (especially that all the men are romance writers *SWOON*) and will definitely be going back to read the previous two books in this series while waiting for book 4 to release!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
This was a fun take on a slightly spicy Rom Com and I really enjoyed the way that the Romance Writer was a man and hopeless romantic at that. This was an interesting spin on a trope that is all the rage and I’m glad that this book really changed up that typical design by making HIM the sunshine character who embraces the idea of romance and casting HER as the grump who has reservations about romance. Although this was my first book in the series, it is really Book Three in Lust or Bust, I had no problems finding my feet while reading. Actually, the skillful use of the secondary characters from the earlier books gave me everything I needed as a first time reader, and is sending me over to Kindle Unlimited to check out the stories that I missed, because each of the men in this Romance Writer’s Group showcased the most delightful senses of humor while their partners held their own in ever scene they were in. I can’t wait to see how their stories played out and I will be back to read the next book in the series!
Although this book clearly fits into the Trope of the Vegas Wedding with a Brother’s Best Friend, I was really engaged with this book from page one because it had a different voice, tone, and pacing than I have read before. There was a measured maturity to Beck’s voice that I felt had true presence and spoke to me. I liked that there were a series of flashbacks to the Wedding Day tucked in, at just the right time, throughout the book as Calla and Beck’s relationship grew and helped me see the relationship’s setbacks by contextualizing the action. All of which gave me greater insight into each character’s motivation and reactions throughout the book. I really enjoyed the fact that I was not dumped head long into a narrative “set up” that detailed more than I was ready for. For me, this lent just enough mystery to keep me moving through the story and kept me wondering how everything happened -- much like many of the characters in the book because this is a secret marriage that is always teetering on the edge of a divorce. Yes, Beck was the perfect Book Husband, a point that doesn't go unnoticed by the other women in the story, and in some cases he was so nice that I wanted to see him lose his cool, even if it was just with his friends at some of the games that Calla played to get him to offer her the divorce. And yes Calla seemed rootless and childish at times, but she is younger than Beck and has a backstory that explains a lot once it is revealed. I loved that she was able to ‘find her way’ at her own pace, and that Beck was always there to support her. The ending of the book really fit not just Beck’s personality, but it also revealed Calla’s own growth to herself!
A fun lightly spiced romance that is told with a quirky but addictive voice, The Write Choice really spoke to me! This is a great beach or short weekend read that will leave you wondering what you missed in Books One and Two and expecting what will come in Books Three and Four.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ The Write Choice is a fun and short contemporary romance novel. Calla is Breck’s best friend’s sister, and they are always at odds, until one drunken night they get married in Vegas. Neither wants to be married, but they don’t want to get divorced either. There is plenty of hilarious banter and games the main characters play with one another. The pace of the story is quick and very entertaining. The MMC is a romance author, which is a fun take, compared to many books with the FMC being the romance author. I loved how supportive and empowering Beck is throughout the novel.
Favorite quote: ‘“Maybe it’s because my reading history has filled my mind with fantasies of how a man should treat a woman.” “Or,” Beck says without missing a beat, “those books are making you realize your worth.”
This is the 3rd book in the Lust or Bust series, but its only the first one I've read. It didn't take away the enjoyment of reading the book as they are all standalone stories. This series is about a group of 6 male authors and some of the women that are in their lives. I throughly enjoyed reading Beck and Calla's story. Great storyline, fab characters and absolutely loved the HEA. Looking forward to Graham's book next!!
You know those books that make you giggle through the whole thing? This enemy to lovers, forced proximity book definetly did it for my. This is the first book Ive read by Jami Rodgers and Im on my way to go buy more!!!
As the third book in the Lust or Bust Series, Rogers delivers a swoon worthy enemies-to-lovers romance in The Write One.
At the beginning of the story we get to meet Beck Robertson, a thirty-year-old romance writer whose career has enable him to purchase the perfect home for him. It’s the success of his latest release that has his agent eager to read Beck’s next project. As someone who grew up confident and always in control, Beck suddenly finds himself stuck. He doesn’t know what he is going to write about and needs inspiration fast.
It doesn’t help to have Calla, his friend’s younger sister constantly calling him and Beck has a very good reason for wanting to avoid her calls. He is aware of what she wants and he is determined to avoid divorcing her at all costs. Little does he realize that Calla is just as determined to make him see that they are not meant to be together. If only that were true for both of them, as the longer they spend together, the more they start to see just how well they fit together.
I really enjoyed reading The Write Choice, it’s evident from the very start that the characters have chemistry no matter how much they try to deny their attraction towards each other. Calla Stone is going through a crisis trying to figure out what she really wants to do as a career while also trying to face her family as well. Though they mean well, they are not thrilled that she hasn’t figure out her life yet. Failure or giving up is not an option so she is set on staying married to Beck while also doing everything possible to make him be the one to want to divorce her. But as she gets to know Beck better, Calla finds out that they have a lot in common and she has to figure out if she wants to proceed with her plan or give it up all together. There is cute banter between them along the way and steamy scenes to want to keep you reading until the very end. I would highly recommend checking it out, I can’t wait to read more from the author in the future. :)
***I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.***
Thank you to Jami and her team for sending me an ARC!!
This was such a fun and steamy read. The chemistry and tension between Calla and Beck was SO GOOD and I loved their journey from start to finish. I couldn’t stop reading towards the end! Such a fantastic mix of romance, drama and incredibly sweet moments. I loved it!
I expected a little more spice with these two. It was cute and kind of predictable. I enjoyed this book though and am looking forward to the next book. The lust or bust boys are worth reading about.
💻😘Battle of will: romance writer vs. reluctant housemate
This book grew on me as it progressed, especially after the halfway point, when I realized that the female lead had a mystery in her backstory that influenced her attitude and actions.
It took me about half the story to develop any sympathy for Calla, Beck's Las Vegas bride and reluctant housemate. I found Calla a bit flaky, just drifting without a job and depending on the goodness of others, especially Beck and her brother Simon (Beck's close friend and fellow member of a male romance writers group). When she campaigns to annoy Beck into capitulating and giving her the divorce she wants, I loved Beck's reactions to her tricks. Her passion for organizing and putting everything in its perfect place eventually becomes an inside joke between them and then a serious job option: a good transition.
I probably would have liked the story better if Calla had not made Beck jump through so many hoops to be with her.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
The Write Choice is packed with humor, friendship, and soul-captivating chemistry. Beck and Calla are married. And, no, that's not a spoiler. That's how it starts! The chemistry between these two is fire from the start. I love that Beck goes with the flow but also knows what - or should I say who - he wants and keeps a level head. Calla is funny with her antics but the real reason behind them is heartbreaking. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Beck and Calla and seeing the rest of the folks in this group. The banter is quick which kept me turning the pages fast. I cannot say enough about the chemistry between the main characters - it was hot all the way through! Beck and Calla charmed me. One of the best parts was the deep connection they made - it wasn't just surface. And, the flashbacks to the wedding were done flawlessly. I highly recommend this book! Well done! I look forward to the next book in the series.
The male lead is a great guy, one I would love to be in a relationship with. The female lead, however, is strange—I could not relate and have no clue why the male lead would love her.
The female lead runs away and cries a lot. She doesn’t communicate well or at all, possibly because she has no idea why she’s doing what she’s doing (nor do I). She seems to be driven to be nasty to the male lead, takes pleasure in it, but doesn’t know why. She baffles me; I can’t relate.
This is funny romantic read. There is lots of chemistry between Carla and BECK who got married accidentally in Vegas although they claim they hate each other .NOW Carla wants a divorce and Beck is refusing to sign the papers.Would Carla finally grow up and realize that being married to Beck is good for her.
A fun quick read. This couple had chemistry that was so much fun to read. It was an enemies to lovers trope but even under all the snark and comebacks you could just see the sizzle between these 2.
It would have been way better if all the Vegas stuff was at the beginning instead of going back and forth. That really only works in books where they don't remember what happened otherwise it's just choppy.
