Aunt Thelma's regency-themed birthday promises to be the party of the century, but things take a sinister turn when a present becomes more of a curse than a gift.
Not everyone loves Aunt Thelma as much as Angelica thought. But who is behind the attack? Is it a jaded business investor, a disgruntled former employee, or maybe ex-husband number two?
As Angelica and her friends follow the clues, they soon discover a web of secrets and lies that lead them to a shocking revelation.
With nothing as it seems, they race against time to solve the case before it's too late. But even for a clever witch like Angelica, the challenge may prove to be too much for her to handle. Will they be able to uncover the truth before it's too late? Find out in the latest Mystic Inn Mystery!
I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.
My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!
WOW! Another fantastic book in the Mystic Inn series you just can't put down. Aunt Thelma, owner of Mystic Inn, is turning 70 and her niece, Angelica (Angie), her husband, Vance, Thelma's good friend, Clemmie planned a special regency birthday party for Aunt Thelma. So many people loved Thelma and were happy to help her celebrate including Frederick her present boyfriend. But Thelma's ex-husband Robert shows up. What is he doing there? When Aunt Thelma opens a birthday gift of a necklace, she falls into a coma. What is happening? Why would someone put a curse on Aunt Thelma? While the healers are trying to figure out how to help Aunt Thelma, Angie, Vance, Clemmie and her crew have to figure out who the person is who put the curse on Aunt Thelma to they can get it reversed. Can they do it? Who gave the gift? When no one at the party owns up to it, the group has to figure this one out. Can they? Is this beyond their capabilities? In the meanwhile, the resident ghost couple, Percy and Eleanor are holding down the fort at the Inn. With so many dead-ends and red-herrings we are taken on an edge of your seat roller coaster ride until the end! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
While I enjoyed a more serious cosy case, unfortunately, so much about this case made no sense at all. Altogether, the series in itself has quite some washy details, a little bit too convenient world where at one time something can’t be done until suddenly it is possible, plus things that just don’t make sense like Angelica becoming a deputy but only part time with no education or credentials. Also, I find in lacking in magic and emotion, a lot things rather told than shown. It started not bad and there was character growth, the setting itself interesting. A good place to revisit. But the cases grew weaker and weaker and the case solving more boring because after a few books you knew the culprit was going to be someone from out of town or just recently moved to Silverlake. And Clemmie in this book made no sense. I never liked her particularly, but in this one she really lost even more of my sympathy. Also, she was pretty out of character. The author asked, if she should continue this series. I’m sorry to say but I think best she wraps it up with this one. Or maybe take more time to work on one book or series instead of releasing left and right stories that are simply lacking in complexity, emotion and originality.
These stories are like the potato chips in the old Lays potato chip commercial where “you can’t eat just one!” The stories are easy, quick reads offering light-hearted cozy mystery fun.
HOWEVER, the author badly needs a copy editor. EVERY book I have read by this author has copy errors. (I have read my way through multiple series written by this author.) The books are fun but the copy errors are a buzzkill. Main characters’ names are misspelled, an incorrect but similarly sounding word is used (e.g. violate where it should have been inviolate), verb tense errors, homophone errors, missing plural “s”, and ffs, the healer’s name changed from Cassidy to Charity just about a third of the way through this installment. In a previous book, the snow “rained” down. HIRE A COMPETENT COPY EDITOR.
TLDR: Fun read but desperately needs copy editing.
Preparing for her Aunt Thelma’s 70th birthday party has been a labor of love for Angelica, and all is going well until Aunt Thelma opens a gift and falls over, unconscious. Who gave her the gift and what happened to Aunt Thelma? If the gift cursed Angelica wonders who could dislike Thelma so much that they would attach a curse to a gift. And how will Angelica and her fellow paranormal friends and family find a cure before it is too late? This is a wonderful and magical series, and I can hardly wait for the next book. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Life is never dull for Angelica and Vance. In another excellent addition to the series, poor Thelma can’t even enjoy her birthday celebration without a curse. Angie, Vance and the rest of their mystery-solving group, Enchanted Investigators”, rush to figure out who placed the curse so they can break it. So many possible suspects. So many red herrings. So many twists. I always enjoy visiting this town with all the wonderful characters. Percy and Eleanor really step up to help keep the Inn running in Thelma’s absence. Love how Percy has evolved over the series. There are so many possible new stories to come. Can’t wait for the next one. This is really one of my very favorite series.
Something very strange is going on. Aunt Thelma is given a gift but it's booby-trapped, putting her into a deep sleep. It's caused by a necklace, that much they know, but why was it given to her and who gave it to her are the among the first of the problems that they face.
There's various suspects, including a known thief and there's even a threatening note involved. So the two main questions why she was the target and who targeted her.
As always in this series of books the characters are interesting, the mystery is rather complex and the resolution is quite satisfactory.
Fatal Enchantment is a clever, twisty, cozy mystery. I love this series so it is a delight to discover another book. When Aunt Thelma's 70th birthday does seriously awry, Angie and her friends must rush to solve this dilemma before it is too late. I was completely engaged as they raced through the clues, suspects and motives. The conclusion was a huge surprise and exceptionally well done. I could not put the book sown and finished it the same day I started reading.
This time around trouble strikes much too close to home when Aunt Thelma falls victim to an evil curse. Who would want to harm sweet Aunt Thelma? This multi-layered cozy has well drawn characters and plenty of suspects and plot twists. I was surprised when the mystery was unraveled! I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.
This was quite intense! I felt the same urgency that Angie did while trying to solve her aunt’s curse just while reading. There were so many red herrings that I couldn’t figure out who was guilty until the reveal. I loved reading this book!
Love this series. Angelina and Vance investigate Aunt Thelma's cursing, a death, missing person and missing money in this intriguing paranormal story. Hope there will be more in series (especially a HEA for Misty perhaps).
What a tangled web of protection intentions gone so wrong! The characters are endearing and real like good friends you enjoy being with. I so enjoyed this series and hope there will be more.
