When her business partner is unavailable for their big sales pitch, it's up to James to schmooze the client - one of her least favorite things to do. But what was supposed to be an anxiety-ridden business trip turns into much more when she finds herself next to a handsome stranger on the plane.

Nick is coming off of a bad interview and an even worse ex, but sitting next to the beautiful and reserved James switches his perspective and he decides to shoot his shot.

After what they both expected to be a one night stand, neither one is ready to give up on what they've found and the transformation it brings for both of them.

But when James's past comes back to haunt her, will she revert to her old self - the one who shuts down and doesn't let anyone in? Or is the new and improved James here to stay with Nick by her side?

K.E. Roth is a self-proclaimed romance novel addict. She has always been a reader and is now an avid audiobook listener. She has used all of her "research" to create her first contemporary romance novel which she hopes to build on as a series.

Much like her main character, she lives in Durham, NC, has a career in market research, and even has an undercut hairstyle. However, in real life, she lives with her daughter and husband and has no experience with criminal activity!

I will start off by admitting that I fell in love with Nick the moment he came into the picture. He was charming, funny, and caring. And despite his past relationship and his need to have a plan for everything, he didn’t hold back with James. He dove head first and never let his fear get in the way of how he was feeling. My love for him obviously only grew throughout as he navigated his relationship with James and all of the curveballs they were thrown. His patience was extremely endearing and he easily proved that he was exactly who James needed.

I really empathized with James. I have had my fair share of anxiety, and those familiar self deprecating thoughts. So while her outbursts were often frustrating because she was self sabotaging her relationship with Nick, I completely understood those irrational thoughts that she experienced.

The suspense/thrill of the storyline made it hard to put the book down. There was a lot wrapped up in the investigation, but it kept me on my toes. I was also surprised by the twist of danger towards the end. While I usually see those things coming, I hadn’t even given it a thought until it actually happened, so I definitely appreciated that it caught me off guard.

This is one of those books that I found myself looking forward to picking up again any chance that I got. The romance and the suspense tied everything together perfectly, and I will definitely be feeling a bit of a book hangover tomorrow.
