Aileen Travers #6

Nightfall's Prophet

Rate this book
How long can a vampire hold a grudge? The answer, it turns out, is an eternity.

Aileen Travers is about to get a lesson in the nature of vendettas and how far some will go to avenge any slight. When a representative of the vampire council sweeps into town, he brings with him a deadly conspiracy that could wind up threatening the very foundation of Aileen’s life.

With strange dreams plaguing her days and an ancient creature stalking her nights, Aileen soon finds the vampire’s motivations for being in her city are far more sinister than she could have ever imagined. An infestation of hunters points to a conspiracy whose roots lie in the far past.

As the danger deepens, Aileen will need to unravel the mystery behind her dreams and their connection with her stalker or risk losing everything she’s built.

One thing is clear—when you live as long as vampires do, you’re bound to make a few enemies.

Writing is my first love. Even before I could read or put coherent sentences down on paper, I would beg the older kids to team up with me for the purpose of crafting ghost stories to share with our friends. This first writing partnership came to a tragic end when my coauthor decided to quit a day later, and I threw my cookies at her head. Today, I stick with solo writing, telling the stories that would otherwise keep me up at night.

Most days (and nights) are spent feeding my tea addiction while defending the computer keyboard from my feline companion, Loki, who would like to try her paw at typing.

This series just gets better and better! I absolutely love Aileen's character, and to see her relationships grow, with not only her biological family, but also her supernatural family, makes this series such a fun read. I always do a re-read or rather a re-listen with audiobooks before a new book in the series gets published, and I end up loving these books more and more. I can't see myself every getting tired of these characters.

I won't say much to what happened in this book. If you gotten this far, you already know what this series is about and anything I say would be spoilers. I will say the overall series storyline does progress, new characters are introduced, and I think this book was fun with all banter going on. It does end on a a tiny cliff hanger that makes me wish the next book was ready to release, as well. But, I'm loving where it's all going, and I look forward to more in the series.

If you haven't read this series yet, and you are a fan of the supernatural storyline with an underdog heroine and so many fun side characters, then I highly suggest you read it. This is series is one of my top favorite paranormal series.

Aaannnnddd we're back. It has been so long since the last book in the series. Gahhhhh, on one hand, I want more from this series, but then I remembered how many other fantastic series this author is currently writing... and that quickly stopped me.

As for this one, it's as great as I thought. The main paranormal creature of this new conflict is the ✨vampires✨. And *wink wink*, there's someone we've been hinted at before that's going to make an appearance in this one. Liam and Aileen are as strong as ever. They've definitely fallen into that established and well-balanced couple, you and me against the world vibe.

So yes. This series and any other series by T.A. White is always highly recommended by me.

Re-read :- 23 March 2024

The family is coming together nicely.
Iykyk.

As well that Liam and Aileen are heating up.

“I wish to ruin you,” he whispered, still staring at my neck.
“Funny thing—I feel the same.”
I wanted to dive so deep inside of him that he wouldn’t be able to breathe without me. To occupy his thoughts and desires the way he did mine.

I wasn’t sure about reading this series after I've read Firebird chronicles (because it's just bestest of the best), but I have to congratulate T. A. White, because though not my ultra-favorite I do really love this series. The writing is always concise, action packed and then there is the slow-burn. It feels like an adventure every single time.

I dig that.

Really liked this one, Aileen wasn't as whiny, still headstrong and stubborn. but, she was more open to letting others help her and she stopped being so contrary about her powers. I like that the focus was more on the relationships Aileen has outside of Liam and how they have stepped in to help her out.

I have been anxiously waiting for this book to publish! I guess I should have re-read the last book or two in this series before starting it, though, as there isn’t any catch-up so we can quickly get back “on page”. The story just dives in where everything left off, assuming we remember who everyone and all the situations are. BUT, it has been a whopping three years since book 5 was published so it was hard to instantly remember all the background and none was given.

Still, once I kind of figured out and re-acquainted myself to the characters, enough came back in this ‘ol brain to thoroughly enjoy the continuing saga - and it is a exceptionally fun one!

I have some minor complaints about the writing of this series. But this is my 5th book in a row, and I’m picking up the next one. So, clearly, I’m enjoying it overall.

Update - 10/21/24 - 5 Stars

I just finished my reread of this whole series in preparation for the next release, and wow, I don’t know what my reading experience was the first time around, but I absolutely loved all of these books. The story is progressing smoothly and the pacing is on point. I remember thinking that it felt a little slow my first read through, but it’s working for me now! The characters all show (believable) growth and this book in particular had some fun and unexpected surprises! The Firebird series is still my favorite series ever, but this is definitely a contender for runner up!

5/11/23 - 4 stars

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the next Aileen installment to the point where I was in a major book rut weeks beforehand because all I wanted to read was this one! This is both good and bad since sometimes I build up unreasonable expectations. With that said, I really enjoyed Nightfall’s Prophet! The secondary characters are just as good as the prior books and the romance between Aileen and Liam is solid. There were a couple of times where I found Aileen’s actions to be a bit annoying (nothing terrible - just repeatedly not asking older and wiser people for help or input when weird stuff is happening) but she redeemed herself later on by not being an idiot. The ending also had a twist that I was not expecting! I wouldn’t say this is my favorite book in this series, but I can definitely see how this installment was necessary to delve deeper into this world in future books. Overall, I think fans of this series will be happy readers!

Love it! So many reveals and surprises. Aileen continues to grow into her new life and less unwanted family. After the events of the previous book and this one, I suspect the next story will be equally riveting. Read and enjoy.

Oh my god. I didn’t think I could love this series more but this book just totally blew me away!! Every single second was perfect and exactly what I wanted at the same time as totally surprising me at every turn. The characters stole my heart long before this book but they have never been better than now! These books are so easy to devour, they’re interesting, exciting, bingeable and the enemies to lovers & found family vibes are the best!!

The intrigue of this world just continues to grow, the mystery and fight this time are definitely my favourite. There is so much going on and so many things unfolding, I totally devour facts about this world and this book delivered! I love how side characters from earlier books have slowly become more and more prominent and vital, Aileen is different to the other vampires and it is her greatest strength. Her friend and ally making comes in for support in the best ways; the pixies, Caroline, Dahlia & Natalia are all amazing.

Aileen and Liam are so amazing together, 6 books into their relationship I have never been bored or found them repetitive. Their chemistry is still off the charts and I’m obsessed with their quiet, soft, sweet moments - big soft only for her vibes and it’s everything !!!! The teasing, the banter and them keeping each other on their toes just adds more fun.

Connor is the best brother and I stand by that. Him and Aileen are so heartwarming together, I always have the biggest smile on my face and you best believe I highlighted so many passages of them being the cutest and funniest siblings. And on that note, I love Thomas. He’s not perfect but it is so clear he loves this children and tries to always protect them and do what’s best. He has a bigger part in this book, there are more interactions between him and Aileen, and we get to see more of his vampire master side too! Loved it!

Liam’s enforcers are always the extra cherry on top of these books and they have never been funnier! They’re totally lodged in my heart alongside everyone else. Their loyalty to each other and support of Aileen, as well as lovingly teasing her and each other is just so good. And I loved that we saw more of Daniel and Eric in this book alongside Nathan and Anton <3

I’m glad I was wrong about thinking this would be the last book because again, oh my god. How am I going to survive until the next one?? I am desperate for more information; Ahrun- his relationships with Liam, Connor and Thomas, all that went down with Aileen and how things change now that he’s on the playing field; the council especially Jabari (who was already interesting from how he looked at Aileen in book 2); and also honestly the council enforcers too. This list could keep going; where is Peter, things with Brin & Noctessa’s first king, Niall, the pixies… Tobey’s writing is addictive, I don’t think I’ll ever get my fill.

I just love the writing of T.A. White and the Aileen Travers series is a prime example of her writing expertise. In “Nightfall’s Prophet” Aileen is attempting to keep her human family in her life while trying to embrace her new life as a vampire. Against her vampire’s family’s wishes she sneaks off the to see her niece’s ballet performance. However, Connor is not about to allow her anywhere without him and he attempts to ingratiate himself with her family.

Thomas frantically calls Aileen to join him at a big vampire soirée but in the way, a voice violently invades her mind. As she attempts to recover and present herself at the party she soon discovers that an old enemy has made its presence known. Not only is Aileen in danger but her entire clan. This particular enemy wants to topple Thomas’ reign and bring the full measure of the Council to do it.

This read was delicious! The antagonists were so evil and worthy of destruction. I wanted to jump into the pages of this read just to help Aileen out (Lol). There are plenty of tense moments, action, subterfuge and sexy times with Aileen and Liam. I also enjoyed reading about Aileen’a attempts to include her family in her life without placing them in danger.

If you haven’t started reading this series, I highly recommend it. Start at book one and begin enjoying the wild ride.

I ADORE everything TA White writes, but admit I started the Aileen Travers series last because I was ...kind of burnt out on UF vampires. And of course I immediately kicked myself, because of course TA White's UF Vampires are different and will capture your heart and imagination.

In Nightfall's Prophet Aileen continues to expand her knowledge and experience in the Spook World, bringing you along her journey. I loved the greater insight in Aileen's family dynamics, vampiric power dynamics, and the history of key characters in Aileen's life (Liam and Thomas particularly). Aileen's rock solid integrity, stubbornness, dedication to her family and friends, and unwillingness to compromise her ideals makes her a really relatable and sympathetic character - someone you'd want to have a drink with and add to your inner circles.

While the events in Nightfall's Prophet are self-contained and can be read as a stand alone, I highly highly recommend following Aileen's entire journey and starting at the beginning of the series. The time is soooo worth it!

Another fantastic book

I love this series and this book didn't disappoint. Lots of laugh out loud moments and entertaining characters that you become invested in. A fun and fast paced storyline about werewolves, vampires and other supernatural creatures, with sarcastic comments and lots of action packed scenes that keep you hooked until the very end. Loved the twist ending. Highly recommend.

CAN TA WHITE STOP DESCRIBING A CERTAIN COUNCIL MEMBER’S PREPUBESCENT BODY?!?! Every book it’s the same and every time I gag 🤮

None of the questions I had at the end of the last book have been answered. A lot of glossing over ish and general assumptions. I keep forgetting who character are because most aren’t really memorable.

This series has a few too many plot holes for me. Definitely bottom tier compared to other TA White books. But since I love the genre so much, I still enjoyed the read over all.

Ok, ok ... Was this book, on its own, really a 5 star read? At this point, I'm not sure I'm impartial enough to know.

I adore this series so much and this book did not disappoint! I am so excited to see where this is going and to see Aileen become who she was always meant to be.

I really loved the book, same as every other book by the author.

I especially liked the interaction between Aileen and Connor and also the romance between Aileen and Liam.

After the ending I am really curious about the things that will happen in the next book and what will change for Aileen.

As always after reading a T. A. White book I have a lot of theories about things that happened or will happen and can't wait for the next book in the series.

4 stars — because apparently, it does get better… eventually.

I hated the first four books. I don’t mean mild disappointment — I mean “rage-scrolling, gritted teeth, what-is-this-even” hate. Then came Book 5, and suddenly T.A. White remembered she’s the same woman who wrote Firebird Chronicles and The Broken Lands series. And now Book 6?

I liked it.
I really, actually liked it.
Looks like we’re on a redemption arc — for the series and for Aileen.

Only 4/5 because I’m still holding a grudge over the psychological warfare that was Books 1 through 4. My trust issues are healing, but not that fast.

✨ Aileen 2.0: The FMC We Deserved All Along
I don’t know who the girl in the first four books was — the whiny, naive, constantly-bullied chaos magnet — but she’s gone now. In her place? Aileen 2.0.

She’s strong. She’s witty. She’s capable, and more importantly, she thinks. She makes decisions. She plays smart. She reads the room. She shows agency. And for the first time in this series, I found myself actually rooting for her instead of wanting to shake her by the shoulders and scream.

This isn’t just a new arc — it’s a rebirth. And I am so here for it.

🤝 Relationships That Finally Make Us Feel Something
One of the best parts of this book — and Book 5 — is how we finally see Aileen’s relationships take shape and breathe.

With Nathan, we get a fun, competitive, easy friendship that feels earned and warm.

With Liam, we finally see love — not just toxic possessiveness masquerading as romantic tension.

With her girl group, we get banter, sarcasm, and ride-or-die loyalty.

With Connor, her protective and nurturing side shines through, and it adds so much dimension.

With Dahlia and Natalie, we see camaraderie, shared experience, and fierce respect.

With Deborah and the pixies? Pure gold. Aileen’s goodness comes through in the quietest, most wholesome ways.

And that’s the magic of T.A. White when she’s on her game — she doesn’t just write plot. She builds people. Complex, flawed, lovable people that make you want to keep reading just to spend time with them.

I just wish this had started from Book 1, so I could’ve loved these characters the whole time instead of clawing my way through the dumpster fire of the early books.

📖 Plot & Pacing: Finally Balanced
The plot here? Interesting. Not world-ending chaos on every page, and that’s actually a good thing. The pacing slows down a bit — especially compared to the breakneck rush of Book 5 — and it gives the story room to breathe.

We actually get to see the characters in normal life, doing non-life-threatening things, and I loved every second of it. Those small, slice-of-life moments? They’re the kind of scenes that make fantasy worlds feel real — and they’re handled beautifully here.

I laughed. I smiled. I cared.
That’s a big win, considering where we started.

💬 Final Thoughts:
I knew there was a reason I stuck with this series — even if that reason was buried under four books of frustration and sheer stubbornness. T.A. White is a gifted writer. She just took a very long detour before showing it again here.

Book 6 proves what I’ve been yelling since Book 1: she’s capable of brilliance when she slows down and lets her characters live, grow, and feel like people. This is the work of someone who knows how to build emotional texture and story structure — not just action scenes and snarky dialogue.

I don’t know if I recommend the series as a whole (still wrestling with that), but this book?
This one’s worth it.
And it makes me cautiously hopeful that Book 7 will continue on the same theme as this book.

P.S. The covers? Ugly. There, I said it. They don’t match the vibe, the tone, or the character descriptions in any of the series. T.A. White deserves better. Honestly, I’ve seen fan art on Pinterest and DeviantArt that would outshine these ten times over. Please — hire a new graphic designer. We’re begging.

I really love how I can envision all of T.A. Whites books like a movie in my head. I always get sucked in and can't wait until the next book, I never want to put them down. The humor, action and suspense always keep me on the edge of my seat! I cant get enough! I've read this series like a hundred times, one of the best series I've read in my little lifetime. (I'm rereading due to the 7th book coming out) And decided to leave some reviews! (Ie I write while I read or try to)

I’m glad this book started out with Aileen meeting with her family. Now that I think about it the enforcers/companions could also be jealous of Aileen due to her being close to her family among other things. Since she wasn’t forced to cut ties. (Technically she didn’t have to due to her background of already being a supernatural but I digress). I also feel like they envy her for the kindness she shows to others and not just their kind. Something they seem to forget from wondering the earth for so long and obtaining so much power. She’s always looking out for the weak, whereas they surround themselves with the strong or have prejudice with other supernaturals as well.

The beginning was funny, having Conner pull at her heart strings to get what he wants. Sibling bickering at its finest. Seems like Aileen’s dad is aware of supernaturals too if his reaction to Connor at this recital and Aileen at the diner (especially with the unshed tears and he hesitated to hug her). Conner protectiveness of Aileen makes me giggle such a chihuahua. I liked that we got more insight to Aileens dad and how much he shaped her as a person. The playful back forth between the 3 musketeers (Aileen, Connor and Nathan) is quite humorous and joyful. It puts a smile on face.

Well, well, well its no surprise that the new vampire in town is after Aileen. She cant resist damsel in distress (Deborah). And Dominick being Connor's ex is icing on the cake. Its crazy how all of the vampires in Aileens like have terrible taste in partners like seriously. You’d think that them being smart, strong and powerful; that they would make smarter decisions, shaking my head. Nathan has shown great concern for Aileen over these last two books I hope to see more of their friendship blossom. As well, as her relationship with Connor. It's always a give and take, both tend to ask for permission so that neither pushes the others boundaries. Always taking the time to be considerate and caring to the other. They don’t walk away from each other but always make time to talk things out and to have each others backs. Love the teamwork with Liam and Aileen (leadership role soon for them both?!)

QUESTIONS

Can Aileen astral project? Is that what she is doing in her dreams that she cant remember? It seems that both the hunters and dominick are teaming up against Aileen. But why? I love how she thought Dominick was the more dominant threat than the ancient vampire in devolution following her and screaming in her head. Liam always wants to protect her from harm but forgets that she is more than willing/capable of saving herself, well sometimes with help. (NONE THE LESS SHES THAT GURL)

I was a tad bit irked with Caroline because she invited Aileens sister to the girls night out knowing that something always manages to happen to Aileen there. Or throwing Lena under the bus, when they only reason she came was because Caroline invited her sister. Other wise she was going to cancel. But this could potentially be foreshadowing of the family involvement in her life in the future. (I WAS SO RIGHT)

Seems like Inara and Dahlia can see the future or know a lot more of what will happen to future Aileen. Crazy how much betrayal keeps happening in Thomas’s clan/city and its always linked with Aileen.

DRAKE (companion for Thomas clan that’s why he was being suspicious earlier) IS HER HUNTER COUSIN, HOLY COW DID NOT SEE THAT COMING (AND I REREAD THIS SERIES LIKE 7 TIMES) I wasn’t paying enough attention. AND I FORGOT AILEENS DAD IS A HUNTER! OOOHHH! I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK. Will she meet more family? Will they even consider her family?! AND THE COUNCIL?! HOW MUCH DOES THE COUNCIL REALLY KNOW ABOUT AILEEN?!

And I’m a little mad that her parents knew (well her dad but the mom was hiding her head in the sand) or at least has suspicions and didn’t say anything could have saved her a lot of heartbreak and self loathing. But it is funny after shutting out Aileen, the mom is super supportive and wants to give blood to make sure she is healthy lol. HA her dad at the end asking about compulsion hehe. Oh and I also love how Aileen references her grandfather, her memories from childhood must have been fond memories, I hope they meet again soon! :)

POSSIBLE FRIEND CIRCLE
Men
Rick (can see the future Liam also warned her away from him due to the council so maybe not), Anton(getting there but still a butthole), Makoto (undetermined), Daniel(Jealous suspicious of her and her being around Liam and Thomas), Nathan (BFF), Eric (go with the flow, chill)

Dhalia (protective, friend), Natalia (friend, also does business, enjoys watching Aileen run after other supernaturals), Caroline(childhood BFF, possible supernatural before with mom), Samara(TBD), Sienna(TBD), (Deborah, TBD, companion)

QUESTIONS ON MY MIND
- Why won’t the antidote work on Aileen?
- Why was Nathan upset? Jealous of her closeness with Connor? Maybe like like her? Sibling? Friendship? Crush? Pg 106
- Why dud Ahrun let Connor be enslaved b Niamh?
- What does Ahrun want with Aileen? What does he know?
- How does Ahrun know Brin? And how much older is Brin to Ahrun since he called him old man? Alches?
- Can Aileen break into others psyche?
- Is Peter going against them since they were able to break into Aileen’s house?
- What does this mean? “Avoid it as long as you can, but fate has a way of drawing you in. And my son will be at your side when it does.”
- Why is the hunter council after Aileen biological father Brin?

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)

2.75*
Lowered series rating, started at 3.5

I read all 7 books in a row.
I like a lot of elements in the books. Some of the plot stuff annoys me, often related to the love interest, that was irritating me more with each book.

I found this aspect of the ending annoying, that also added to the star downgrade.

First time read the author's work?: Yes (for the first novel in the series)

Will you be reading more?: Possibly

Would you recommend?: Probably

------------
How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author)
4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author).
3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series)
or
3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)

All of the above scores means I would recommend them!
-
2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.)
1* = Disliked

Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)

more like 3.85 stars!

i think because i hold this series in such high regard, i'm being critical to that standard and giving this sliiiiightly below 4 stars! it might be my least fav entry into the series but by no means does that mean its a bad book, i just loved the rest more.

i like that we get to know more about liam/thomas's past as well as the past of the lineage and the banter remains top notch. i think maybe because this book felt more filler-ish to me, i thought some parts dragged but i think this book is necessary to continue the series and set up more for what is to come. like i can't believe kat was still a player in all this (i can't believe she somehow lasted the whole series up until now) and the way that dominic ends.... was both surprising but also anticlimactic? but a nice loophole for aileen and friends to get out of trouble. i know that shes the fmc and the series centers around her, but i feel like she's starting to get a liiiiiittle bit of that special snowflake boost-- like everything just happens so easily for her with her powers and family background despite her supposedly being super young and new to all this, she's able to thwart people decades/centuries older than her.

regardless, i'm most excited to see what becomes of ahrun and how his character will fit into the whole family/lineage's dynamic. a big standout for me is the relationship that is built between connor and aileen-- i love how unfailingly loyal and caring he is to her and they have such a healthy sibling dynamic. it was nice to see the different relationships that aileen has become stronger-- esp. both with her born and chosen family. i know that liam and aileen are in a very secure relationship which is nice to read, but i'm gonna say, i loved the chase/tit for tat they had in the previous books, but its nice to see them so in love and on each other's side-- clear growth for both of them. i hope we get more family drama, healing, and snide remarks in aileen's found family in the next book! also will we learn more about both her biological and step(?) dad

I am admittedly a massive TA White fan, if she writes it, I read it. I love the Aileen Travers series and it might be my favorite of hers; It is in a never-ending duel with the Firebird series (if you have not read it, I highly recommend you run and get it).

I think it can be easy for a series to go a little stale or repetitive when you are looking at book 6, but this is not the case with the Aileen series. If anything, these books keep getting better. The relationships between all the characters keep developing in a realistic way that keeps you engaged and wanting to know what happens next.
I loved that Aileen’s family takes a very active role in this book and we get to see how the foundations of her personality formed. Like all the books in this series, there is a bunch of humor, heart and female kickassery in this book and I could not put it down. I can’t wait to see how the human and vampire sides of Aileen’s life keep rubbing up against each other.

The book ends with a whopper of a revelation that will leave you desperate for the next one, but I would not call it a cliffhanger and I found it a satisfying end to this book and a great setup for the next one.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and think it is a great addition to the series. I did receive an ARC copy of this book, but I also bought a copy for myself because I loved it so much and want to support the author.

The Mummy

AileenTravers6;4.5 ⭐️

A fitting finale, with enough twists and stops and turns to keep everyone guessing.

Trying to meet her sister halfway in reconciliation has Aileen rushing to make her niece’s ballet recital. It doesn’t help that Connor insists on coming along, especially when he introduces himself as her brother 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️. Then, someone breeches her mind barriers, and things start to spiral.

Then, she’s having odd daydreams of someone she doesn’t know. And now she’s being followed. She can feel them watching. Everyone wants her to find a house, so they can get back to normal - read, disgruntled pixies - and Aileen struggling to maintain her distance from Thomas. Yeah. Like that’s gonna work.

When generational enemies target the entirety of Thomas’ line, complete with bringing vampire hunters to Columbus, things get really interesting. Add in a spirit dog who teases the harpies, a grandfather who everyone thinks is insane, and a missing Patrick, and the vamps are in a war, where they brought the battle to Aileen’s home town. They be high, stupid and crazy!

Getting to the tunnel is its own tussle, let alone looking for light at the end, but there is a solution. Maybe you saw it coming, I sure didn’t.

Fun.

Another glorious addition to the Aileen Travers series, Nightfall’s Prophet does not disappoint!

This book builds on the previous five in a way that is new and interesting, but also satisfying as relationships deepen and secrets are discovered.

I’m really excited about the direction Aileen is taking - there is this perfect mixture of her becoming more integrated into vampire society and her place within it, while still holding true to her root values of being independent.

Some of my favorite scenes from Nightfall’s Prophet were the ones where Aileen and Thomas are matching wits to see who gets their way. The dynamic between the two is really evolving from where it was earlier in the series. I’m very excited to see more of Aileen + Thomas + Connor’s interactions continue with the rest of the series.

And we can’t forget about Liam. Obsessed with Liam is putting it lightly. Things are definitely getting spicier between him and Aileen, and I’m here for every word of it. Absolutely loved his support in this book mixed with even more of his personality.

Such a great read and I’m already impatient for the next book - especially with that ending 👀.

The cheese factor with this one was high. SPOILER ahead. First off I felt like Aileen wasn’t herself. This book felt like a filler book. It felt obvious to me the author hasn’t been in this book world for awhile. The interactions between the various players felt off. There are a ton of descriptive details that take up too much space. Then there’s the end scene. Aileen goes to dinner with her parents and learns her stepdad is from a Hunter family and previously worked as a hunter before meeting her and her mom….. and he’s always known Aileen was turned to a vampire and had a dad that was fae…… yeah. It doesn’t at all feel like a light bulb ‘of course’ moment for me. This comes across as a disjointed move to continue the story line for future books. With all of the drama the family has had around Aileen trying to stay in touch yet hide her turning this square peg doesn’t fit in the round hole story we’ve had for all this time. It feels so forced. Some authors do this and you look back and see the long game they’ve been playing. I don’t even get that sense just a little bit with this. Not my favorite book in the series.

Nightfall's Prophet is the sixth book in the Aileen Travers Series by T.A. White.
The Aileen Travers series is a fast-paced urban fantasy that blends supernatural intrigue with plenty of action and intrigue. Aileen isn’t your typical glamorous vampire - she’s a bike messenger in Columbus, Ohio, juggling rent, relationships, and the occasional supernatural crisis. This “everyday vampire” angle gives the series a down-to-earth feel that set it apart from some of the more melodramatic entries in the genre.
The books have plenty of humor and grit. Aileen’s voice is sharp, at times witty, and tinged with vulnerability, which made her interesting. The supporting cast - from dangerous allies to unpredictable enemies – were also interesting, many with motivations that went beyond the simple 'good-versus-evil' trope.
Each installment delivers a self-contained mystery or conflict while also steadily building a larger picture/world of supernatural politics, hidden dangers, and personal stakes.
If you enjoy urban fantasy with a strong, imperfect heroine, banter, and an interesting 'world' - then the Aileen Travers series might be worth diving into.
Happy Reading…

Loved this book! But it's definitely not a standalone, so make sure you read the other books in the series before you start this one. I would even recommend a re-read of previous books because past events have a big influence on this story. And a LOT happens in this book.
Aileen has spent the past 5 books struggling to stay true to herself in her new life, and we finally see that pay off. No spoilers, I promise, but she gets the respect she deserves from the men in her life, and it's great to see. As a reader and a fan, I felt so proud.
Aileen's family, both vampire and human, are a major part of the book. And the ending is explosive. Not quite a cliffhanger, but it definitely left me excited for book 7.
My favorite thing about the Aileen Travers series is the banter between characters. I don't think there was a single scene in this book that didn't have some humor, and I loved that.
If you're a fan of the series, I think this is the best one so far and should not be missed.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say… I’m amazed. After the last book I thought this one would round up the story and ends the series. Far from it. It is a turning point to more adventures for Aileen.

First of all, it is not a stand-alone book. You’ll not be able to understand the story-line without the previous books. So back to the beginning and enjoy.
What not to love?

A new for her but old enemy for her Vampire family emerges and cause havoc and – how to say it without spoiler??? – impossible, so no further info J.
New development in her old family which will lead – I’m sure of it – to great story lines.

Aileen’s relationship with Connor is enjoyable to read (it brings smiles on my face reading about his behaviour). Liam and her connection – relationship does not descript it properly - continue to go deeper. They are bound and both accept it. The humour between both is great.

I received this book as an ARC. Take my words with a grain of salt (the salt being, I’m a fan of Tobey’s writing). But better take my word for it: it is a great book. Enjoy!
