Meet Christian Savage, vampire hunter in the wildest backlands of the Wild West. Abandoned by his parents at birth and raised by a kindly priest, Savage was momentarily lured to the black arts of the occult and it cost him the life of the priest. Now Savage roams the countryside ridding the frontier of the supernatural enemies of civilization, until his mission brings him to the last two people he ever expected to meet. Collects issues 1-5. Includes the bonus tale " The Candy Heiress".
A somewhat simplistic script for a check-off-the boxes western horror story by R.A. Jones that's nonetheless bolstered by Ted Slampyak's beautiful-as-always art (pretty much why I bought the book). Script (1 star) Art (4 stars)
The Saddlebags Jones back-up western feature by Slampyak and writer David Watkins gels a bit better in a humorous (and distaff) spin on the tenderfoot sub-genre. (4 stars)
The adventures of an accursed vampire hunter in the Wild West. Not actually bad, just routine, the kind of book where the big twist gets an "oh, of course" from me.
