So, I definitely remember reading this one as a teenager because I remember the "Yes! Yogurt" bit pretty clearly. And with the benefit of hindsight, it feels like one of those books that was a formative text for me because it features a lot of things I still really like in romances today: single parent, dude gives up his city life, man goes the extra mile to help the woman chase her dreams. I will say that while all of the low-fat, low calories grocery stuff was EXTREMELY accurate for the 90s, I didn't love that aspect in 2024. But the struggles of dairy farmers was so good to see on page that I was more than willing to roll with an accurate period thing I hate on a personal level.

I really enjoyed the first half, but the second half was frustrating. The conflict between the two main characters seem a bit convoluted. I did enjoy most of the characters and the premise was interesting.

This is the first Tyler book I have read and you can tell that things are missed by not reading all in the series but it was excellent as a stand alone book as well.

Brittany Hansen is trying to keep her family farm. Widowed a year ago she has four children from the ages 6 to 13 to raise alone.

Jake Marshack is sent to try and collect for her 8 months of late payment for animal supplies and offer to buy her land.

Jake did not expect to find a young comely widow or to find him self from returning to her home again and again. He did not expect to learn to enjoy the children or anything. He was City born and raised and this was the country.

Britt knows she needs to do something unique and quickly. She already makes a special cheesecake and danishes that the local places sell but she needs unique and a gimmick. In comes the idea of goats milk vs cows.

And off she goes on her new adventure and Jake somehow ends up along side.

The story of a rural farm with looming bills, a winsome widow and the "big dairy" agent tasked with forcing its bankruptcy. Written in 1992 it is definitely dated. This was one of the better stories in this series but not terribly realistic and the editing is not stellar. None the less it is a quick dandelion seed light escapist read.

Although it's an old book, I was surprised when I saw that there was some....smut. I didn't mind, and it was a pretty good book, and I think it was fine as a stand alone! I didn't know it was the 9th book in a series! I thought it was amazing, and highly recommend it, it was also super fast paced. the beginning was a bit slow, but after that, it didn't take me long to get into it.

Another romance in Tyler, another wedding! Brit is a bit proud, though, so she doesn't like asking for or accepting help. She's a little frustrating, but Jake never gives up. Britt and her family loosen up his uptight ways. LOL

And we STILL don't know who killed Margaret, but things progress at the end of the book. No surprise, it's kind of expected. Just another twist.

Enjoyed the first half most definitely; then it went down hill. Was thinking of rating it about a 4.5 but that ending I wasn’t expecting and that boosted it up for me. Definitely looking forward to the next book.

Britt Hansen is a widow, struggling to keep her dairy farm and raise her four young children. Jake Marshack has been sent by Winnebago Dairy to collect on Britt's overdue account. He doesn't count on falling for her and helping her start a low-fat goats' milk yogurt and cheesecake business. He likes his life just fine and if he can collect on Britt's account or convince her to sell her farm to the dairy, he'll make vice president. Of course Britt goes ballistic when she finds out his "true motives" but of course, it was all a misunderstanding. Jake gets a bit high-handed for my taste in "rescuing" Britt and also jumping in to "parent" her kids, but it is obvious she needs help. This isn't my favorite of the series, but it wasn't terrible, either.

Very very good story. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because it ended so abruptly. Good lead in to the next story, but still.

This story is about a widow who is trying to save the family farm. She comes up with a great recipe for goat yougart. The dairy who she owes tons of money to wants to buy her land, sends out their hot shot guy who falls head over heals for her and her four children.

Home town goodness at it's best. I will watch for the others in the series.

The ninth in the Welcome to Tyler series and this was one of the better ones.
