Investigating a cold case is SWAT cop Mitch Bradford's worst nightmare—especially when it involves a kidnapped infant. But thanks to an injury, he'll have to settle for following Emily Wentworth instead of breaking down doors and cuffing criminals. The prime suspect in a mysterious disappearance, Emily has always claimed she was framed. And as he earns the trust of the incredibly desperate—and unbelievably beautiful—mother, every instinct tells Mitch to believe her. Then new evidence unfolds, revealing an elaborate conspiracy and forcing Emily into a deadly spotlight. Now, torn between loyalty to the badge and his promises to Emily, Mitch may have to make the ultimate sacrifice if he's to bring her little boy home.
I really enjoyed this action packed book. The suspense was awesome. I didn’t know who was behind the kidnapping until it was revealed in the story.
The book starts out with Emily being in a car wreck, her husband dyeing, and her infant son being kidnapped.
Mitch was hurt when he worked swat. He was now a detective until his leg healed. He was on Emily’s case, but didn’t know if she was behind her husband’s death or not…
Mitch and Emily made a good team, and I enjoyed their banter. They worked to find Emily’s son. I really enjoyed this book, and if you like action packed books with suspense, and romance, then you will like this one too.
Sample from chapter 2 – When she slid onto the cracked vinyl seat, William knelt beside the car. “Take my advice. Move on with your life. Close this chapter.” “How can I do that when my son is out there somewhere?” You may not believe I’ll find him, but I refuse to accept that I won’t.”
Sample from chapter 3 – She pumped the brake. Nothing. The car sped faster on the downward incline. The metal guardrail raced past her. This couldn’t be happening. She gripped the steering wheel so hard her hands cramped, and she kept pounding the pedal, but it was no use. The slight slope became steeper. Fifty miles per hour. Fifty-five. A hairpin curve waited ahead. She’d driven the road countless times, but not this fast. Never this fast.
Very good book. I loved Emily. She refused to give up on finding her son, and was doing everything she could to track down the people who took him. Mitch was assigned to follow her and ended up working with her. The more time he spent with her, the more he realized she was innocent. As they started following the clues, and evading the attempts on their lives, they also developed an attraction and feelings for each other. Emily had trouble trusting anyone, especially the police, as she has gotten little to no help from them. The conclusion was great. I really liked the help Mitch got from his family - I hope they get stories also.
When I read an excerpt of this book, I knew it was a book I would enjoy. And I was totally right.
It grabbed me from the moment I began reading, and didn't let go for even a second. Most 'nights' I was still reading around 1am - I just couldn't put it down.
Finding Her Son is a fast-paced book with lots of twists and turns. The author has plotted this book out incredibly well. There were no loose threads, and everything tied up nicely.
I won't give too much information because I don't want to spoil the storyline for you, but basically this is a story about Emily Wentworth whose one-month old son is kidnapped immediately after Emily and her husband Eric as injured in a car accident. Only it wasn't an accident.
Eric has done something to put all their lives in danger, and he hasn't told Emily about it. Eric dies as a result of the 'accident' and Emily is seriously injured. Now the police suspect her of foul play.
What ensues as she tries to find her kidnapped son, is a rollcoaster ride that puts Emily in grave danger, as well as those around her.
Her one and only focus in on finding her son - but will she die before she can accomplish that?
In Perini's romantic suspense novel, wounded SWAT cop Mitch Bradford was living his worst nightmare--he was assigned to the cold case of a kidnapped child. Emily Wentworth was the prime suspect in the murder of her husband and the disappearance of her infant son. Emily had always claimed she'd been framed and as Mitch works to establish a connection with her, his instincts screamed her innocence. As evidence unfolds, Emily is shoved into a deadly spotlight. Torn between his dedication to the badge and his promise to Emily, Mitch is forced to make a sacrifice to save a child. Fast-paced, high adrenanlin story.
SUGGESTED POST TO GO WITH PHOTO: Torn between loyalty to the law and his promise to his main suspect, Emily Wentworth, Mitch may have to make the ultimate sacrifice if he's to bring her missing son home. What an amazing book, and is highly recommended as a read! If you still are not sold, check out the amazing Mitch Bradford below!
The plot and suspense are intricately wound. I liked Emily and Mitch as a couple, but when it came down to it, there was a bigger cast than I cared to deal with for a book this length. I suspect Mitch's siblings have their own books. Also, Emily often behaves recklessly and I did not respect her when she did.
For her entry book (if I remember correctly), this was an awesome book!
Great storyline, complex characters and honestly I still didn't know quite who the bad guy was when Franki said hello to Mr. (Last name).
I look forward to reading the rest. My only slight complaint was the bodies piling up BUT that did make it more believable vs it jus being a romantic story, with a few twists and turns!
This was OK Dialogue is my favorite part of a romance novel and Robin Perini does it well. I liked both leads in the story and the author made the heroine reasonably intelligent. (I mention this because it's rare) What I never like is when there is sex on the brain from the moment a couple meets. It makes for a shallow relationship. I never like it when said couple "realize" they're in love after 2 days of adrenaline-filled running from bad guys.
I enjoyed the storyline. It was exciting trying to keep up with all that was going on. Different characters. I loved Mitch but, I disliked Emily she was annoying! Lol
I enjoyed the mystery and suspense in this novel. Kept me on my toes and second guessing motives of characters. The romance between Mitch and Emily was fast-paced and enjoyable. A definite fun read.
I attended the RWA Conference this year and was fortunate to sit in on a seminar that was led by this author. She was an amazing speaker and I knew after that seminar that I HAD to read one (or all) of her novels.
I chose this one at dinner that night and I was not disappointed. In fact, I read the entire way through dinner, and then finished the book in the wee hours of the morning. Yes, it was that good. It was so well-written, the characters were very well-developed and the story sucked me in immediately and wouldn't let go.
More like 1.5? It seems I'm the only one I didn't like it. The writing was good but the story not. I expected much more, everything feel rushed. I didn't click with the characters even the male, I almost always like male characters more than females, but this time I didn't care much about any of them. It was a little boring. Sorry.
Really enjoyed the premise. I could really go for a guy like Mitch. Emily was interesting too. It was a fast-paced action adventure. I would definitely recommend this book.
