it's hard to put into words all that i don't like about this collection but i think letting you know one of the poems starts with "in my sweatpants era" and continues on with "in my ___ era" for the rest of the page says enough

There Is Room For All Of You Here by Michaela Angemeer
Rating: 5/5⭐️

Synopsis:
There Is Room for All of You Here is an excavation of the past that leads to a celebration of queer love. Separated into three Stumbling, Falling, and Landing, it’s about complicated family relationships, reconciling with your insecure attachment style, finding a healthy love, and building something you hope will last.

My Overall Thoughts:
As my short little thoughts on this, I will just be writing my favourite poems that she’s written:

- “you deserve a count on me love. a coffee in the morning love. a makes you playlists kind of love. a play with your hair while you fall asleep kind of love. a call into work cause they don’t want to leave you kind of love. a stay in bed all day kind of love. a spontaneous gift cause it reminds them of you kind of love. a smiles at you for no reason kind of love. a bring you cookies when you have cramps kind of love. an understanding love. a love that
wants to grow with you. a love that sees your unwashed hair, your crusty morning eyes, your overthinking, a love that loves you even more because of it. you deserve an unconditional love. a love that makes you feel safe.”

- “our love is late night kisses. eyes locked. movie dates. baking brownies. licking the spoon. our love is cut up strawberries. the first spring bloom. our love is a blanket that covers your shoulders. your hand on my knee. flowers just because. our love is sleepy sundays. my nose in your hair. our love is kinetic. our love has a pulse. our love is honey. lavender. silk. our love is warm. our love is soft. our love is endless. our love is ours.”

- “in my sweatpants era. in my chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast era. in my different nail designs on each hand era. in my middle part era. in my mochas with oat milk era. in my moving my body for no reason other than that it feels good era. in my things can work out better than i imagined even if it's not what i planned era. in my maybe i can grow into a greater version of me without worrying about doing it perfectly era. in my surrendering era. in my soft era. in my i know who is safe to let in era. in my self-trust era. in my letting myself be cared for era. in my realizing how much love exists in the universe era. in my lover era.”

- “date yourself. affirm yourself the way you would want a partner to. hug yourself when you cry. listen to yourself. ask the questions you’re afraid to answer. reassure yourself. trust yourself. plan solo trips and go on them. celebrate friendships and chosen family more than you ever have. buy yourself a birthday present for the first time. flowers for no reason. romanticize everything you do by yourself. teach yourself how you want to be loved, and how deserving you are of it.”

“this is the first happy ending i didn't have to force”. More than poems they look like notes from a personal diary. This book introduced me to the writer, in a very touching way. Smooth and pleasant, I liked how it was organized. I recommend it.

one day you'll wake up and realize that all the work you did was worth it. that excavating every little part of you and telling every last bit not to hide. telling every little piece of yourself you've ever been ashamed of that it deserves love too. one day you'll meet someone who mirrors it all back to you. and you'll be able to love in a way you never have before. because instead of looking for the cracks, instead of seeing their humanness as a flaw like you saw yours for so many years, all that love and understanding you cultivated for yourself will radiate onto them. and you'll have your first love where loving them doesn't mean loving yourself less. you'll have your first love where loving them means loving yourself even more.

This books has so many good relatable poems about self love and heart breaks. I will definitely be reading the rest if her collections.

While the book starts with a compelling progression, where it reflects on past relationship struggles and offering a sense of hope, it gradually lost its emotional impact. The deeper I got into it, the less I felt connected to the message, and by the end, it simply didn’t feel worth the time spent into reading it.

The poems themselves were poorly organised, lacking a clear structure or flow. The themes jumped around - from grandparents and death to being in love with a married man, then suddenly falling in and out of love, which made the collection feel scattered and difficult to follow.

My favourite poem:

i wonder if i’m the first person
you called sunshine
or kissed three times
is this new to you too
or is this what olivia was referring to
when she wrote deja vu

Ok so I love the whole timeline progression. The poems themselves weren’t my favorite but I enjoyed a couple of them. I loved the artwork in the book thought that was nice. Poetry is very expressive and I definitely know some friends I will recommend it to it just wasn’t a favorite for me. The cover is cute too

I like most of the poems except the poem with _____in my era. That’s cringey and it didn’t fit. But other than that this collection have pretty decent poems.

I don’t want to be unjust with the author, I think all the feeling in the book are valid. I just think the organization of the book wasn’t good, it was all over the place. Grandparents, death, being in love with a married man, then falling in love and deeply in love. Not my cup of tea, sorry.

This is the fourth book of Michaela’s that I am reading. Although it was good, it feels like something is missing? I just felt meh after finishing the book.

But here is my favourite:

“to the love of my life:
thank you for bringing joy into every day. your laugh and boundless energy makes my life so much better. i love learning and growing with you. and that every day is its own little adventure. i am so grateful for your deep caring and understanding. i just wanna get to know you until the end of the earth. thank you for never failing to surprise me in the most beautiful ways that make me feel more loved than i’ve ever felt. your presence is a gift. your mind is a wonder that unravels in the most profound ways. i just want to live inside your brain. you bring depth to the moments that need quiet and light to the moments that deserve celebration. i love that you lead with love and are so aware of the impact you have on other people. i am so honoured to call you my partner and best friend. the idea of our life together is the most exciting thing i’ve ever imagined”

I read so many books like this, alone that shows how unoriginal and repetitive they are. I hope no one paid for this and read it with a subscription, because I would cry if I spend any money on this.

You can find all those "poems" on Pinterest, Intstagram and Tumblr for free. I won't even go into any detail on the stylistic choices and how much wasted space there is. Those modern poem collections are just a terrible cash grab without any style or real depth. It sounds harsh, but after reading so many carbon copies, you know this is not some heartfelt writing. Some things should be on your personal blog for free and not printed or capitalised off.

They are so unoriginal and bland that I would never in a million years would be able to guess the poet/writer from their work. Maya Angelou is the perfect example of heartfelt, unique poetry.
