3.5 stars! Such a cute & quick read. I love that they went all out on the audiobook with multiple narrators, sound effects, etc. It is fun to listen to a really well done audiobook.
Overall a super cute book. I loved that it centers around a wedding and wedding planning. 3.5 stars just because it is a short and light novella. Wish it was longer and had a bit more depth but totally understand that it's just a novella!

A follow up to the Un-honeymooners.
Olive and Ethan are running away to Hawaii to get married in hopes of out-running the dreaded Torres wedding curse.
But the Torres clan, specifically Olive's twin sister Ami can’t just sit back and miss a wedding.
Ami will take things into her own hands and make the perfect destination wedding, determined to break the curse once and for all.
Even though she’d rather make the arrangements herself, Ethan’s best man Brody steps in to assist. Can Brody’s carefree island attitude win over Ami? And will the curse finally be broken?
But of course, you’ll have to read/listen for yourself! As if I was gonna’ spill the beans!😜
This was a somewhat shorter story, the audio coming in just under 5 hours. Personally, I think it would have worked well as a full length novel.
The audio version, with a large cast of narrators, was exceptionally well done. The banter between the characters felt like I was sitting at a table in Starbucks eavesdropping on the couple next to me. (Not that I would EVER do such a thing!)🤣
If you’re looking for a shorter, fun rom-com then this will be the perfect fit! I recommend the audio version for the full experience!

the setup…
Olive Torres and Ethan Thomas are getting married! However…they’re going to go it alone in Maui to avoid the Torres family wedding curse (remember twin sister Ami’s disastrous event?) and be mindful of her sister’s feelings as she’s still sort of recovering from her recent divorce. But Ami’s having none of it. She and her cousin Diego cook up a plan to secretly fly their entire family to Hawaii and both of them will plan the wedding in less than two weeks. What could go wrong, right? Well, the first hiccup comes when Ethan’s best man Brody insists on partnering with control freak Ami to help with the plans.
the heart of the story…
Oh, what a good time I had here! It was lovely to see Olive and Ethan return to where it all started for them. It was even more fun seeing Ami in her element, even though she was in unfamiliar territory in seeking out and finding the deals to stay in her budget. Having Brody as a partner was fortuitous in so many ways as he lived on the island and had his own contacts, though it was their growing attraction to each other that made it an even better time. It was the journey that made this fun.
the narration…
This full cast narration was an utter delight! It also included well-timed sound effects. Trust me…opt for the audio version for a really great time.
the bottom line…
I squealed when I learned of this upcoming release as I had no idea there’d be a follow up story to The Unhoneymooners. The story was fun but the full cast narration just made this the best listening/reading experience. Lest I leave you with the impression that it was all fun and games, there was also some seriousness here as Ami had to deal with her ex-husband attending his brother Ethan’s wedding and Brody clearly had a backstory that caused him pain. It added some weight and was just an added bonus. I loved every moment, finishing it in one sitting. 4.5 stars

okay I LOVED THIS!!! it was soooo much fun to be back in THE UNHONEYMOONERS world with all those characters again!
*this is audio ONLY (for now?!) and has a full audiobook cast (think Daisy Jones & The Six vibes). such a fun way to consume this story!
**and yes, if you haven’t read THE UNHONEYMOONERS first, THE HONEYMOON CRASHERS will have so many spoilers. this picks up 2 years after THE UNHONEYMOONERS ended.
i think CLo fans are going to love this one 🥰❤️ it had me giggling out loud so many times and it was so fun to be back with these characters and see where everything netted out.
my only complaint was the ending—felt like we built up a certain reason/twist a bit to have it be 1) resolved FAR too quickly and 2) a little random or anticlimactic?
but that didn’t take away from me loving it and finishing it in 2 listens/within 24 hours!

The Honeymoon Crashers is an audio novella follow-up to The Unhoneymooners by author duo Christina Lauren. It follows Olive's divorced twin sister, Ami, who takes it upon herself to plan Olive and Ethan's destination wedding in only a week, with the goal of breaking the Torres family wedding curse. Ami, who has a typical type-A personality, is forced to team up with Ethan's best man, Brody, to plan the wedding, and he is the exact opposite of her, with a laid-back positive attitude but has tons of connections on the island to help with the planning.
This was equally fun as it was cheesy. I really enjoyed The Unhoneymooners when I read it 3 summers ago, and where that one felt like a cute rom-com, this one just felt a bit cringe. It was really fun to revisit these characters though, especially Diego, he is my favourite! My main issue was that this is a full cast audiobook, with different actors for each character, but half of the time whoever was narrating the current chapter read all the dialogue and the other half they used the full cast with different voices. It was really inconsistent and wrecked the point of having a full cast. If you were a fan of The Unhoneymooners it's worth getting from Libby or at the library, but don't spend $12 on Amazon to get it. It was quick, fun, cheesy, but ultimately forgettable.

Compared to the first book this was lame. It was Anticlimactic, boring, and I just wasn’t diggin the chemistry between the characters. The Unhoneymooners was hilarious! This was not. I had high expectations since I like the authors but honestly I’m surprised I finished it. It ended happily ever after but I wouldn’t recommend reading it.

this did not need to be a thing. the fact that it’s an audio only production makes it a bit worse tbh bc it was very cringe to hear the most basic rom com of all time performed by people who have zero chemistry with each other. i seriously wanna know why this was made. it was a waste of time. it was legit a checklist of standard rom com tropes with a very weak wedding background. i need justice for ami bc she deserved a better story than this.

The Honeymoon Crashers takes place about four years after the end of The Unhoneymooners. Olive and Ethan have announced that they are eloping and getting married in Maui, where they fell in love. The family thinks Olive wants to elope because she’s afraid of the so-called Torres family wedding curse. But Ami knows that Olive is trying to protect her from having to relive her own disastrous wedding, and that Olive will regret not having her family at her wedding. So Ami schemes (“Operation Mayhem”) to secretly bring the entire Torres family to Maui to surprise the happy couple. Once she arrives, however, Olive and Ethan have a surprise of their own: they insist that Ami let the best man, Brody, help with the wedding planning. Brody is chill and flexible and seems to be Ami’s opposite—could he be just what she needs to finally move past her divorce?
The Honeymoon Crashers is a fun follow-up to The Unhoneymooners. Olive and Ethan are present, but in a supporting role as Olive’s twin sister Ami takes center stage. The story here is shorter, so all of the beats you’re expecting happen, just more quickly. Ami is the same entertaining character, and gets the redemption arc you would want for her. The surprise is Brody, who is charming and fun but also has more depth and a sadder backstory than you (or Ami, for that matter) are expecting. The rest of the Torres family (especially Diego) has moments of great comic relief. And the audiobook—the only way to read this story, at least for now—is well-performed with a large cast. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Recommended for anyone who enjoyed The Unhoneymooners.

I am in my lighthearted and easy contemporary era and I really enjoyed this easy read. It’s not a complicated storyline or mind grabbing moments but it was super sweet and fun and I enjoyed both characters. Please note: I have not read the first book and just enjoyed this short and sweet story.

The Unhoneymooners was one of my first romance books that I read back in the OG era of Booktok so it will always have a special place in my heart!
Absolutely loved the full cast audiobook with sound effects. It was so fun and I loved seeing all of Amy's character development in this quick little novella!

This is the second book in the Unhoneymooners series. I absolutely loved the first book and gave it five stars. This one was just as good story wise, but I only gave it four stars because of the fact that it is only available in audio drama and I don’t like the noises and sound effects that are added in that format. If that’s your thing then you’ll love this book!!

When Ami’s twin sister Olive announces she and Ethan are eloping on the island of Maui, Ami scrambles to throw together the perfect wedding. A day that will include family and friends. Ami had her own disaster of a wedding where everyone was sick from food poisoning and her marriage ended a few short days later after Ami discovered her husband was cheating.
Much to Ami’s dismay, Olive and Ethan have assigned Brody, Ethan’s best man, to help put it all together. He comes off as a surfer guy, all laid back, so she doesn’t take him seriously. However, Brody knows everyone on the island, charms them all, therefore a huge asset in the arrangements.
Ethan asked Brody to help plan the wedding to help lighten Ami’s burden, but more to make sure she has fun while doing it. Ethan and Olive love Ami and know what she went through still hurts. Brody for his part seems like a carefree, fun-loving guy, but there’s more to him than meets the eye.
The Honeymoon Crashers was a lot of fun with Brody convincing Ami to let loose and enjoy making choices. I wanted to be there for the cake tasting and for the flower farm! It was a pleasure to see the slow burn of attraction ignite and turn into something deeper and important for them.
I really enjoyed Jessica Marie Garcia and Harry Shum Jr.’s performance as Ami and Brody, but also the full cast of characters with sound effects that made the story come alive. I listened at my usual 1.5x normal speed.

No, very boring. I couldn’t. Harry does a great narration, but him and Jessica have like 0.0 chemistry together. And I’ll never understand why have a full cast and then have full chapters and dialogue read by one person? I didn’t believe the relationship at all. And something about Harry playing a white boy surfer dude rubbed me the wrong way, just make the character Asian 🙄

It is just dumb luck that this wonderful book is set in Maui and its' release is just days before the devasting wildfires ravened the island. It's difficult to block the devastation from my mind that the island has suffered. But these people will rebuild, and the land will thrive once again. Maui Strong!
This audio book has an awesome ensemble cast, and sound effects!, and it is just wonderful. Both our hero and heroine are scared people who are finding a new spark in each other. We know what Ami's story is. Her wedding was a bust and her groom was a douchebag who cheated on her. But since her twin sister is marrying said douche's brother, Ami is stuck with him as family.
When Olive and Ethan announce they are going to elope to Maui to get married, the family is not happy, to say the least. Ami and her cousin Diego determine that is just not going to happen and plan to surprise Olive with the wedding of her dreams, whether she wants it or not. Luckly, Olive does, and Ami is in wedding planning heaven until Ethan asked her to let his best man, who lives on the island, help her. After a bit of tension, Brody proves quite useful, in more ways than one. With two weeks to the big day, Ami comes to rely on Brody and she has learned not to rely on any man. But behind the happy go lucky exterior is a man who had experienced something devastating, but he is going to make sure that Olive and Ethan have a wedding to remember and maybe Ami will realize that not all men are like her douchebag ex.

We know what Ami's story is. Her wedding was a bust and her groom was a douchebag who cheated on her. But since her twin sister is marrying said douche's brother, Ami is stuck with him as family.
When Olive and Ethan announce they are going to elope to Maui to get married, the family is not happy, to say the least. Ami and her cousin Diego determine that is just not going to happen and plan to surprise Olive with the wedding of her dreams, whether she wants it or not. Luckly, Olive does, and Ami is in wedding planning heaven until Ethan asked her to let his best man, who lives on the island, help her. After a bit of tension, Brody proves quite useful, in more ways than one. With two weeks to the big day, Ami comes to rely on Brody and she has learned not to rely on any man. But behind the happy go lucky exterior is a man who had experienced something devastating, but he is going to make sure that Olive and Ethan have a wedding to remember and maybe Ami will realize that not all men are like her douchebag ex.

Goodreads crashed while I was writing this review and I don’t have it in me to re-write my ten paragraph rant about how truly awful this book was. I’ve never listened to an audiobook before because I’m a visual learner and this solidified why because in the words of Gob Bluth - “I’ve made a huge mistake.”
The cast was terrible, the voices had no chemistry (I’ll blame the writing for that too), and the corny, randomly timed sound effects were so distracting. The storyline was cheesy and unbelievable, the plot twist wasn’t even a plot twist, it was just a direct admission that the male MC lied the whole time. AND he was blonde?? No thanks. Wtf kind of name is Brody anyways?
Ami is a whiner and all she does is complain that she’s a perfectionist and her cheating ex-husband never gave her an orgasm. She also doesn’t seem to grow as a person or as a character… she just stays the way she is and everyone puts up with it. I had to listen to three hours of detailed wedding planning, stupid attempts at flirting, one liners about dicks from the sassy gay cousin, and a horrific sex scene from dual POV. I’d rather swallow glass than ever have to go through that again. A whole pint of glass.
I gave this one star because it’s still better than The Spanish Love Deception and I guess that counts for something.
