I purchased this book for the primary reason the plot was supposed to have been in Turkmenistan. Although the country is mentioned, it is only a blip. Nothing to even mention, let alone include in a World Challenge
It started out good with U.S. Marshal Jill finishing up a terrorism case. She shows herself as confidant, professional and well skilled. She is trained and skilled as a FBI Remote Viewer - a sort of psychic reader. I was under the presumption the FBI do use people with interesting "skills".
Her new husband, a journalist has gone missing. She goes off in search of him. She uses her Abilities to help find him and gets into a much more complicated situation. At times, I really liked this book as it had all sorts of bad guys, hair-raising taxi rides, scary night chases. But other times, it felt unrealistic.
The ending was a rush job and a cheap shot cliff hanger that was not appreciated. It is unlikely, I will return for Books 2 or 3.

A good book. a few references to some British and Canadian elements that aren't well known stood out to me. They didn't fit the main character well. A bong and a hooka are similar but technically different. I've been over there and saw hookas being used, not bongs.
These didn't detract from the book but I kind of found them mildly distracting.

This book had a lot of investigating and some action scenes in it. I really liked how Jill was always moving and seemed to motivated to find her husband. Although the trip was a harsh one to look for her husband, some of the clues that she found were confusing to me too. Also, the ending didn't really answer my questions or conclude anything at all for me, it was leading me to the second book. I'll be looking forward to reading the second book though!!

Great book, great main character! Jill Oliver is an ex Remote Viewer for the FBI -- an ability inherited from her Navajo granmother. She has PTSD from a traumatic torture session and so is now a US marshall. Her new husband, a journalist goes missing and she decides to find him. She starts out in Doha, his last known location and the tale spins from there. Well played.

Lacklustre
It took me almost a year to read this novel. For me that is a record. it simply was not the addictive page turner I had hoped for. Having said that I will take a look at the prequel novil Primal Deception and hopefully the story makes more sense to me as things are tied together.

I love the main character, Jill Oliver. She is fascinatingly complex and kind of a badass!!

what a first book to start the new-year. Liked the way everything was explained . Learned so many suddul ways to stay out of trouble.
