Asterius and Silenus are the prequel and first installment in the Ancient Myths and Monsters series. Both books were highly entertaining and I loved the setting in 1st Century Europe! Blurbs below! I give these both ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Asterius (Book 0.5):

I can’t allow my mating frenzy to destroy my tiny human mate. My ship malfunctioned in an unknown sector of a distant galaxy. Now I’m stranded on a primitive planet, desperately hiding from the native inhabitants who must not learn of my existence. As soon as I hear the enchanting voice of the human female, I know she’s mine. Her scent calls to me, rich and intoxicating, promising bliss between her thighs. Yet my huge alien features would terrify her. And my bulky body is far too big for her species. Giving in to the mating frenzy could spell disaster.

Silenus (Book 1):

Silenus:
I’m not supposed to be on Earth. I’m a scientist working on a tenuous research grant. I’m not even supposed to make contact. I’m certainly not supposed to fall tail over horns for the tiny human female who rescues me during a storm. We can’t be together. Not with the way Saetah males are built… Yet when I’m near her, I’m blind to everything but my desire for her. It could cost everything: the mission, my career, my freedom and hers. I still must have her. How do I find a way to keep her?

Arria:
Life as a widow and single mother is hard, but I love my family and my small farm. Then a mysterious stranger appears in the midst of a terrible storm on a night I’ll never forget. He must be a god or a monster. His features are so strange and unearthly: long ears, horns, hooves and tail and a muscled physique the poets only dream about. Though the myths certainly never described pleasure like what we share! It’s impossible, but I wish he could take me to the stars with him!

I loved the mix of ancient and futuristic things in these books! I’ve never read an alien series where they show up in that timeframe and it’s amazing! The contrast of how the women live day to day in the 1st century compared to the men’s tech is so cool! They were sent to earth to observe humans and accidentally ended up planet side among them… whoops! What a huge culture shock for the ladies!

I also liked how the women weren’t necessarily scared of the aliens, as they resembled gods that they worship. The men are so protective of the women. When their fated mate bond kicks in they do whatever it takes to keep their women safe and with them. I’m such a sucker for the fated mates trope, especially when the guys are confused at first because “they’re human, they can’t be the one!”

FMC: Arria
MMC(s): Silenus
Tropes: Will it fit?, nerd/scientist MMC, hurt/comfort, Satyr, moon frenzy, historical earth setting, taken to space, single mom FMC
> Reviewer add: Fated mates, no good with words, horn steering, cinnamon roll MMC
Perspective: Dual
Plot or character driven: Both
Spicy scenes breakdown:
> Present? Yes -- there is a satyr as the MMC.
> Detailed? Yes
> Multiple, with only one character? No
> Multiple, with both/multiple characters? Yes
> Personal favorite?
> Anything else to note? Mr. Tumnus in Narnia was a most well behaved Satyr. For those of us that wanted something a little more adult out of him...
Burn speed: Fast, THERE IS A SATYR AS THE MMC.
Can this be read as a stand-alone: Yes, but there is a novella that’s also out in the series because ancient world + monsters.
Re-Readability: Yes.
Content/Trigger Warnings/Enticements: Low key miscommunication anxiety. A dud of a deceased husband. WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN. All the adult women are monster f*ckers. Child in peril (illness, resolved).

I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my voluntary, honest review.

“I hate that she’s sad. I hate that I can’t speak to her and hold her, when every instinct in me drives me to take her in my arms and comfort her.”

Arria’s husband has passed away and now she lives on their family farm with their two girls, her mom, and his mom. They have a decent life with their goats, and then Silenus’ ship crashes, and she ends up helping him. He comes back for a second whiff of human woman and the ancient world was full of the original monster romances. I said what I said.

IT OPENS WITH STUPID GOAT. I realize this is probably not scream worthy for most people, but it’s a book about a SATYR, okay? I was screaming from the opening, and quite frankly I just want to put up a do not disturb sign on me when I get a new Ami Wright book and this is no different. I loved Arria, and I felt for her. She’d been disregarded by her deceased husband, and now she was trying to live her life without the weight of that on her. Silenus sometimes puts his cloven hoof in it, but he manages to do it in a completely endearing way and not out of meanness or cruelty, but acknowledges it and addresses it. And yes, I’m here for it. A sweet little satyr. Saetah. I would twirl and dance with this book shining in my eyes.

There was a whole generation of us that saw James McAvoy as Mr Tumnus and wanted a movie with a much higher rating, and now I finally have that need in my life filled. I could kick my feet up and smoke now. Also I want to see more of this world, more of these scientists, can I just have more?

“She’s certainly ruined me for any other. I can’t find it in me to care though.” ~Silenus

Plot Rating - 5 🌟
If you want an erotic historical romance book with a Nerdy Alien hero and a steamy heroine, this book is perfect for you.

The story was well-written and the world-building was easy to understand and engaging. The tension between the main characters was burning through my Kindle and had me fanning my face. This book was so good that I ate it up in less than a day.

Silenus, the MMC, is a big cutie. He's a Satyr scientist who is on a mission to study Earth and humans. But he gets trapped on Earth and meets our single mother FMC, Arria. Silenus was every bit obsessed, possessive and stalkerish which made his cute scientist side even more endearing. I loved how he always landed himself in some or other shit with people (incl. Arria) because my man can't just express himself well.

Arria is a single mother to two girls and runs a farm with her mother and mother-in-law. She is a spice-positive queen and doesn't hesitate to take what she wants. Arria getting obsessed with Silenus and his "equipment" is a moment I will remember for life. She's one of the few FMC who I have seen initiate intimacy and that was fresh af. She was a bit insecure about her needs but Silenus made sure to correct that.

I loved the relationship between Arria and her family and loved the fact that Silenus accepted Arria and her family as a package deal and loved them too.

This book is perfect for readers who want to read an Alien romance with cute MMC and FMC that doesn't shy from taking what she wants.

Spice Rating- 4🔥
I see a heat/rutting trope I grab that book without thinking and Ami Wright writes this trope like a pro. The book is filled with plenty of hot steamy scenes ranging from midnight adventures to thorough bedroom banging. I was jealous of Arria for getting all that action.

🔥 “I’m starved for you.”
~~~
Arria is such a wonderful woman and an amazing single mother! She’s so caring, sweet and compassionate. Even more, she’s so strong, resilient and hardworking. But she often struggles with her own wants and needs and has a lot of pent up passion. I loved her so, so much!
And Silenus is an amazing male! As a xenobiologist, he’s smart, curious and responsible. Even more, he’s so kind, strong, fiercely protective and irresistibly charming. I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Arri and Silenus! Silenus and his team were sent to Earth to observe and study Earth species, humans in particular, when he’s stranded and injured during a storm. And Arria was the one to save him. Their encounter might’ve been an accident, but from the moment they met, their attraction was so strong. And I loved their chemistry - those two fit so well together. Their relationship might’ve been forbidden but neither of them could keep their hands to themselves. And the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and I was all in for every deliciously naughty moment. Even more, I adored Silenus for proving to Arria that there’s nothing wrong with her especially when it comes to desires and passion. And he was willing to break all kinds of Intergalactic laws for her. Arria and Silenus were so perfect for each other and more than deserved to find happiness, passion and love together.
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! Aliens in the 1st Century - how cool is that?! I absolutely adored the mix of ancient, futuristic and alien. And with all the places we got to visit and the discoveries that were made, it seems that old Earth is not as untouched by interstellar visitors as the advanced aliens believe. Even more, the side characters were so lovely! I loved Arria’s sweet children so much. And the two grandmas - so nice, fun and encouraging!
Overall, the story is a fantastic start of the series! It’s filled with so much emotion, drama, romance, suspense, surprises, passion and wonderful characters.
I absolutely loved it!
Selinus: let me tell you, the main character, Arria, she's like the goddess of steaminess. She knows what she wants and how she wants it, and her desires are anything but tame. I mean, her very first thought is about the size of Selinus', um, "equipment" being as big as her forearm! Talk about a wild imagination!😏
But let's talk about Selinus, the man-alien himself. He's grateful that nobody from outer space can visit Earth because, let's be honest, if they knew what human women were capable of, the galaxy would be in danger! And when Selinus talks about capabilities, he's not just talking about inner strength. No, no, he means the ability to accommodate a Satyr's muscular build. Who knew humans were so flexible?
And the other characters in this book are charming too. Gaia, Mama, and the lovely daughters of Arria add a heartwarming touch to Selinus' journey. Although, I have to admit, I was emotionally drained after that little stunt Gilpae pulled. Thank goodness for Ami and her knack for happy endings. The thrill of it all was absolutely worth it. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the next book, grinning like a Cheshire cat on catnip.😁
What's going to happen to Earth? Will the Interstellar Federacy finally recognize it as more than a primitive planet? So many questions swirling in my head! This book has awakened my curiosity, and right now, I'm happily drowning in my book hangover.
If you're into ancient myths and legends reimagined with all the juicy bits intact, and if you're a fan of pining, protective, cinnamon-roll alien heroes, then this series is a must-read. Trust me, it's so out of this world that even Elon Musk would be jealous! ha! I have to throw it there. It's so perfect not to say it.😂
Silenus, the male alien Saetyr (Satyr) lead, is a scientist genuinely on Earth for research purposes. He meets Arria, the female human lead, when a tree falls on him, hurting him and damaging his holographic projector, meaning Arria sees him in his true form. The attraction they feel is substantial, and Arria is a widow, so she both knows what it means and has scope to engage in some mutual satisfaction. But then they both start to want more…Silenus is forbidden from a relationship with a “lesser”, Arria has obligations to her daughters, mother, and mother-in-law…Then Silenus finds evidence of prior contact with humans which is forbidden - maybe he can make their situation work…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a great first story for a new historical erotic romance series, set in Earth’s first century. I enjoyed Arria’s care for everyone around her and her mothers’ encouragement to take some pleasure for herself. I enjoyed Silenus’ balancing of his responsibilities with the joy he found with Arria. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes. I enjoyed the engaged and integrated secondary characters. I enjoyed the resolution that balanced characters’ needs and abilities. I am looking forward to the next one.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Aria is a widow that was not cared for properly by her husband. She feels her passion, her wants and needs make her a bad person due to his disregard. So she digs in harder to take care of her children, their grandmothers and her small farm. They are living in the first century raising goats and one is always s troublemaker - Spotty. During a bad storm Aria is searching for Spotty when she hears a groan. Finding Silenus under a tree branch, she helps free him and takes him back to the goat shed. His device that projects a human appearance is damaged so she sees him in his alien form. A satyr in human mythology with huge appetites and well described anatomy. The attraction is immediate.
Ami has filled her story with humor, love of family, danger, angst, secrets, aliens that feel earth is too primitive and so much steam. Her world building and character development is top notch and this story is a great start to Ami's series of ancient myths and monsters.
This time, it's Satyrs! If you know the lore, they be HUNGRY. Silenus is a fellow scientist (xenobiologist) and while focusing on his research, like one does, he gets trapped! Not a fun experience, I tell ya. Thank his stars, Arria finds and saves him and who could forget such a beautiful savior? BUT as scientists do, we OVERTHINK and Silenus has a dilemma believing he is more advanced that humans. Tsk Tsk, the universe gives him a metaphorical smack behind the head and he realizes that humans and Satyrs are actually VERY similar (duh). Both characters have to adjust as they struggle with their situation and their untold feelings. The story overall, is enjoyable and pretty good.
Even though this book has a connection to the "Asterius" story, it isn't necessary to read in order to understand this story. It doesn't hurt to read it though, since there are some tiny references.
Arria is a survivor, she endures and she still keeping trying to make the best of everything for her daughters. Her husband was not good to her and has now also left her to look her his mother as well as hers, while still working the farm. She has precious little for herself or her own comfort. Somehow despite everything that should have made her harsh and callous, she has remained kind and caring. Something which is highlighted when she meets Silenus. I think it is safe to say that he is not from round here. He is meant to be running his experiments, from a distance. Distance being very much emphasised! Safe to say he gets closer than he ever thought possible. They have very different cultures and so also they have differing opinions but somehow they never trample over each other. I loved this.
Yeah! This five star read appears to be the first in a new series Ancient Myths and Monsters! I love the well developed characters…the whole family, it makes this one a delightful read. I am hoping that we see more of them in future books. Perhaps the girls grow up and have an adventure of their own!
I so enjoyed how creative this book was…bringing fabled monsters to life. The romance was smoking hot. I also love that this was a widow who finds love for the first time. Download and enjoy❤️❤️❤️
Such a heartfelt read. Arria has so much pent up passion, its boiling over. When she stumbles upon an injured male all of her desires come flooding to the forefront.
Silenus, Is a scientist observing lesser species on a class four world ( earth) and is stranded and injured. When a human female assists him and helps him to recover. Unfortunately or fortunately for her, life is going to grant her all her wishes and desires. For him though, the moon stirs something in his loins and rutting may be on the agenda. Alas Arria is there to help him yet again.
“I don’t want to be invisible in your life.”
This isn’t really a monster romance. It’s a cross between a sci-fi romance and an ancient history romance (1st Century) Talk about primitive earth! It’s quick, very easy to read and a lot of fun. Arria was super sweet and Silenus was unlike any other Sytar I’ve ever encountered. It’s kind of hard to say much without giving plot away but they were so cute together and the plot had a few surprises I didn’t expect, which I always enjoy in a book. Ami always has great characters and this story is no different.
I really enjoyed the world building. I think it was ancient Roman period on Earth or sometime around then. I can’t imagine how hard it’d be to go live in outer space right now and adjust to the tech, but to do that from a time with so little technology? Crazy.
Steam: there’s a lot of steam. There is plot too, but it’s about half and half. Nothing super spicy. Just a slightly unique very big peen with lots of staying power.
I wish there had been a bit more relationship development. They show a lot more of the lust than love or even really friendship. It’s a pretty short story.
Arria and Silenus
Another myth retelling, this time is about Satyrs, and we all know what the myth says about their apettites... They weren't wrong as we can see with Silenus. Is a xenobiologist and is studing the humans when he gets traped and Arria saves him. After that he can't forget her and he learns that humans aren't só difrent from them as thougt l.
This is book 1 in a new series of interconnected standalones. There's a short prequel before this, called Asterius, but it's not necessary to read it in order to enjoy Silenus.
I loved this book!!! How Arria and Silenus met, how they started having feelings for each other but not voicing them, Silenus' dilemma over being from a more advanced species, Arria's struggles with her new situation, etc. It was all so interesting and enjoyable. Of course, the spicy scenes were 🔥🔥🔥!
I hope we will see more of this family in the following books!
I recommend this book to anyone who loves an alien romance. The fact that it happens in the 1st century on Earth makes it even more fascinating! Read it: you won't regret it!
