In a recent survey, we Texans admitted that the part of our education which we remember least is, somewhat incredibly, a knowledge of our own land.... I have always felt that this confused disinterest is due to the way we tell our story - a hodgepodge of names and dates... And so, for our stories, we go to that part of Texas where the turning points occurred. As nearly as possible, we see that land as it was when when the turn was taken We are there; we watch it happen.
