So many good review for this but it was not for me. I like some Daddy kink but the humiliation and name calling was NOT my thing.

Then there was the gross factor... Vaginal penetration then ass then back again? Thrush anyone...

Prime example of one reason why this is getting 1 star^^ The dialogue? SO BAD.

The only reason I didn't DNF this book was because I was waiting on the "I woke up in the hospital; it was all a fucked up nightmare." because I simply couldn't believe what I was reading.

It just kept getting worse. By the end of the book I had so much that I had jotted down to go over before writing my actual review that I am, instead, going to put all those jotted down things into this and use that as the biggest part of my review. Because I'm so ready to be done with this and, also, (as you'll see if you read this long ass thing) I wrote down so much that I was too overwhelmed trying to condense it all into a normal review.

Before continuing: Like I said, this is long as HELL, and I know it's ridiculous.

If you are the author, or someone who actually liked this book, maybe don't read this. I didn't hold back on my feelings.

I'll sum up most of my feelings by saying: This book is one of the worst books I've read in my entire life. And at no point during this book did I feel like I wasn't justified in my thoughts about it. It is so bad--from the formatting, the telling-and-never-showing, the instant EVERYTHING, the cringey sex scenes, to the stilted dialogue and horrendous dirty talk. I hated both the mc's. Also, I would not be surprised if the author didn't edit this, but the fact that I found no spelling mistakes makes it seem like she did. But that's even worse because that means it was read over and still published as is--even with all the formatting issues, etc. And, holy hell, the formatting issues bothered me so much. It was so hard to keep up with who's saying what, etc, when you couldn’t tell who was actually speaking because it all runs together. There were no spaces between lines of dialogue or paragraphs, nor were there any indentions in sight--it was a nightmare to read.


My comments/thoughts I wrote while reading will be below. The first little bit is from where I was planning on writing out the review, like I normally would, before getting overwhelmed and deciding to do this instead. Once it gets past the first part you'll see it's mostly like a list of short comments about what was currently happening in the book.


First of all, Gemma instantly came off as an idiot. She gets approached by a man while she is at the bar with her friend, and he says, “Wanna get out of here?”, and she GOES HOME WITH HIM WITHOUT HESITATION. Her friend encourages it without knowing where the hell they’d be going or any info about the guy Gemma was going off with, and Gemma goes off with the dude. GIRL. Trafficking? Murderers? Kidnapping? Ever hear of things like that?

Gemma is dumb as hell. I'm sorry, but she is.

After that, she hunts down Jacob(because she "wants to clear his name"), despite never having met him or talked to him in her life before, and proceeds to show up at the dudes house. Uninvited. Coerces him into letting her in without a care they are alone. Again—she DOES NOT KNOW HIM. I don’t even care he was in prison; it's the fact that NO ONE is with her, and she has no phone because it's dead, and she’s just so fucking stupid that she goes in the house without even considering the consequences.

They argue a bit and she leaves but returns after falling in a lake--even though he expects sex as payment for staying there. When Gemma and Jacob start having sex 2.7 seconds after she gets there (the next day if you want to get technical) she suggests that they use no protection because she is clean, as well as on birth control, and believes Jacob when he says he's clean too. Doesn't even want to make sure he's telling the truth, despite him telling her he has the papers clearing him. He trusts this random ass woman enough to not care either. And, now that I think about it, he claims to have those std results in his desk, but why/how does a recluse--who is said to have not left his house in the few months he’s been out of prison--have those results? Makes just about as much sense as everything else.

Anyways, I hate them both for how stupid they are. What's the point in even having them mention if they are safe or not without them actually caring. Because clearly they don’t if they will believe the word of an absolute stranger with nothing to back it up. SO stupid.

The first sex scene is a joke. (Well, actually, all of them are.) She's never done anal and yet he fucks her, with NO LUBE--while she is clearly uncomfortable with it happening, and isn't even trying to be easy on her. He was a complete dick from the start, but I didn't expect this.

As a matter of fact, it reminded me of another book I hated: Cruel Idols by Sorcha Black. Yet, that book somehow pales in comparison to the disdain I now harbor for this one. But, both books include mfc's who get it in their mind to go to the mmc's house, even though they are complete fucking strangers, and are met with these men. And, like Cruel Idols, this book failed to provide any sort of chemistry between the characters; friends or family never make an appearance after being mentioned once--outside of Bastien--; the sex seemed like it was all about the men for the most part; and just straight up terrible bdsm portrayals.


This is where the listing starts because I gave up on condensing everything:

-The dialogue is awful. No one says shit like this.
-He is all “I won’t tell anyone my side” then instantly talks.
-Logically, none of this is making sense. Like, I get that this is fiction, but come the fuck on.
-The constant “__ is playing” is irrelevant. Makes no sense why the author wants us to know what song is playing all the time.
-Girl, stop being so horny for this man who is bribing you with sex and literally caused his best friend to die (allegedly?) because he was drunk.
-Of course she wouldn't listen to me. Now she's the one being all sexual and shit--rabid, horny dogs. The both of you.
-This timeline is already completely fucked up.
-We start off being told he’s been released recently, and has been cooped up in his house since then; then we find out he served 7 years; and a while ago he’s thinking to himself about how the last time he’d been with a woman was 1 or 2 years ago. . .but, just now, Gemma asks him the last time he'd been with someone and he claims it's been 7 years. So, if he was with a woman 1 or 2 years ago, how? Because he was in prison for the last 7 years, right? And he just said it had been 7 years? Either I’m misunderstanding something or the author paid zero attention to the timelines as she created them.
-Oh, I hate how she's integrating words from a different language. No where in the book is there a translation guide. Pet peeve of mine. Why have it in if we never find out the meaning? I try to translate them myself but some words don't translate to anything. So you have to guess what he is saying. Which, if it's like a little saying at the end/beginning of a sentence--like a pet name--that’s not as bad. But when it is a sentence that starts in one language, then switches to another before it switches back again, and I can’t even find a translation to be able to understand the missing words, it's so annoying because the whole sentence now doesn't make sense.
-I know nothing about this author, but I can tell they don't have an editor. Or, at the very least, has a shitty one.
-NO. DON’T YOU DARE.
-I’m gonna cry.
-He is completely bare while switching from her “front door” to the back one. And he switches several times. Does he not know the 'no cross contamination' rule? Of course he doesn’t. Also, she’s never done anal and he is completely uncaring and being as rough as he wants even though she is in pain. Pos.
-NOT HER LETTING HIM STICK THAT THING IN HER MOUTH RIGHT AFTER. I’m gonna vomit.
-Now saying she wants to be with him, live with him, and he gives her a list of rules and expects her to relinquish all control to him from now on. She instantly agrees. THEY JUST MET YESTERDAY. The progression is insane. Everything is happening between them talking back and forth but they aren’t having logical fucking conversations. No limits being discussed; no safe words--but she's apparently his sub now? Make it make sense.
-"I'm no kisser, it's different with you." Well, why not mix in a bunch of super cliche shit while we're at it?
-Not this man coming and shouting, "Oui!" I can't.
-She trusts him to tie her up. To not hurt her. Of course, she does.
-Oh, look, finally a safeword.
-He fists her while she’s tied up, and this is on the same day they had sex the first time and. . .like. . .I'm just astounded by how it went to them waking up and talking, to doing anal with no lube and him being as rough as he wanted even as she showed clear signs of pain, to him fisting her? All in one day. And no aftercare. Nothing at all.
-The kinks/things he does to her are kind of just thrown in at random and possibly just for shock value?
-He starts calling himself daddy and she doesn’t even blink, now suddenly she’s his sub? There's no limits discussed; she’s just expected to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, without having any say. And she doesn’t question it. This is one of the worst depictions of a Dom/sub relationship I've ever read.
-The fact that her phone remains dead and she’s not concerned about anyone reaching out?
-It's the 2nd night and she has told him she trusts him and knows he won’t hurt her. Then, he proceeds to tell her he will, and does. Progresses to where he tells her he is going to punish her for wearing clothes to bed. Then, he fucks her while she’s sleeping. She wakes up a little later, wanting him to “make love to her”, and he refuses because he already used her in her sleep and got off. Tells her to go back to sleep. Wow. Only night two, and he’s already saying, “Fuck your needs as long as I’ve already gotten off.”
-Was this written by a man?
-Wtf is going on. He literally just took her without lube--even though she was a virgin there--and now, the next day, he does the same thing as “punishment” for her wearing clothes to bed. Why? If this is his logic—punishment=taking her with no lube—why did he do that the first time? Doesn’t make sense, and it’s also completely fucked up no matter what.
-Again, no aftercare, even after the "punishment". And I'm just convinced this is a man writing this because there’s no logical reason to think otherwise. It would also make sense why there's been, like, two POV chapters from Gemma. This is all about pleasing Jacob.
-I feel utterly nothing, but contempt and general dislike, for these characters. I see no connection, no chemistry, and it just makes no damn sense what draws them to each other. Well, I get Jacob. . .he sees this as his only option and jumps on it when she is all so eager to be his to control.
-Him referring to himself as a criminal (in a playful way almost) constantly is icky. Especially since he got that title from killing his "best friend”.
-Somehow his son, Bastien, is the guy she slept with at the beginning? Ain't no way. This whole book has to be a prank—we are supposed to believe it's even in the realm of possibility that someone she had a one night stand with back home somehow is coincidentally the son of the same man she tracks down? Nah. Can't believe the author pulled this out her ass just for a few mfm scenes.
-She is claiming she got all the details of what actually happened with the wreck—bitch, what fucking details? He explained fuck all. I guess it was off page like everything else.
-“I had no idea you could cook” You’ve known her for three days, no shit you know fuck all about her.
-What is happening. He tells his son to meet him outside and it cuts to later where he confronts Gemma with a “Are you thinking what I'm thinking?” (meaning a threesome with his son) and she is like "Yeah, definitely.".
-“She looked like she needed rescuing that night” So you just immediately offer to fuck her? Great rescuing, Bastien, you did great.
-Oh, so apparently Jacob didn’t even ask Bastien first and when he told Gemma to tell Bastien their decision he’s shocked.
-Now Jacob is calling them both prudes and liars and told them to start acting like adults— because if they weren’t imagining the three of them fucking it means they are/aren't these things? Wtf?
-Are there no scenes from Gemma's pov unless it's just her thinking about how much she wants Jacob?
-It's only been a week since she first saw Bastien at the bar.
-No condoms for either of them. Yep, alright, that checks out.
-Her arrival wasn’t even in her pov. . .we only learn through dialogue and Jacob's pov that she got there. I hate that everything is dialoguedialoguedialogue. (just a random thought)
-Oh, so, NOW he has condoms.
-Yeah, I'm with Bastien; fuck the “humor me” bs because Jacob didn’t give a fuck the other times Bastien was bare. Dumbass.
-God this is so cringeyyy. Every word out their mouths trigger my gag reflex.
-Why do you want your son's. . .oh. NO.
-Therapy, I need therapy. So much therapy.
-NUT BUTTER? THIS FUCKING MAN JUST SAID “MY SONS NUT BUTTER MIXING WITH OUR JUICES” IS WHAT WAS MISSING AND IS DUMPING HIS SONS CUM ON HER AND SPREADING IT AROUND WITH HIS OWN FINGERS—JAILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. SKIP GO, DO NOT FUCKING COLLECT ANY MONEY, AND THROW YOURSELF IN FUCKING JAIL RIGHT NOW.
-This is a joke and straight out of a bad porno. No way she just yelled “Come and fill me back up with your big cocks!” And there’s not someone that just screamed “Action” before she did it. It explains so much—I’m being pranked.
-Still, somehow, not any povs from her to get her thoughts.
-“You fill me up so well, boys!” — “Give me your cum, boys!” GAG ME. With a GUN.
-Oh my god how does the dirty talk KEEP GETTING WORSE.
-Oh, wow, a Gemma chapter and it's just her talking about embracing her slut side. More power to you, but gtf away from this dude first.
-Why are you yelling at your son about something he didn’t even ask. Stfu.
-Why does his son care that his dad is “older and depraved” as if he didn’t just have a fucking threesome with him.
-Gemma takes Bastien's side. . .says not to argue with him. Where was the argument? And why are you not defending someone you want to be with when someone talks down about your relationship?
-You all fucking suck.
-Yes, just keep reminding me that Jacob's a shitty person, that’s what you need to do. How many times are you gonna remind me he’s a home wrecker and has no loyalty to anyone?
-Is this a straight up threeway relationship now? What is this date shit with Bastien?
-Don’t tell me she went shopping and didn’t even get a charger.
-Apparently, not a threeway; Jacob is jealous and thinks Bastien will steal her away.
-Oh. Yay. Another punishment.
-I can’t believe this is only the third or fourth day she’s been there.
-She got a phone, nice. Not that it matters at this point, honestly.
-Wow, another mention of what song is playing. Don’t care.
-So, on top of every other ridiculous rule she has, now she’s not allowed to leave the bed in the mornings unless he has already? Gtfoh.
-And now she’s grounded. . .
-It would be nice if their dynamic was clear. Are they Dom/sub? Dd/lg? Master/slave? Cuz I’m getting told too many different things and nothing is being explained. It's just happening. Like, why is she suddenly acting like a child and he’s grounding her from going out? I just don’t get it.
-“The urge to slap her overwhelms me but I try to squash it down.” All because she asked you a question about you being fucking insane? I’ll say it again—GO TF TO JAIL RN. Matter of fact, just take your ass back to prison. Take her with you—I'm sick of both of y’all.
-75% thank fucking god I need to be done.
-Oh, she wants to slap him now too. . .it's a match made in domestic abuse heaven.
-Sidenote, I'm not against rough sex and slapping in that case, but I don’t carry that same energy for hitting someone when you are upset. Hell nah.
-“You’d be a great dad.” Bastien: “Hel-fucking-lo?”
-Goddamn, dude, does every character have to be unbearable?
-Now Bastien doesn’t trust Gemma for no reason (actually, logical reasons) and—besides all that, why is it that Jacob seems like Bastien should owe him anything? Why does he deserve to have his son have his back when he cheated on Bastien's mom and broke up their family? He has not once come off like a deserving father.
-Another possible instance of the editing being complete shit—she’s supposed to be hugging Bastien but it says she hugs Jacob and looks into Jacob’s eyes as she talks to Bastien?
-Why are they acting like Bastien's going off to war and they’ll never see him again lmao. Get a grip, he's just going home.
-Her telling him to quit smoking and drinking so much because “You’re going to be a father soon.” As if he’s not already a father? Hello? Justice for Bastien.
-My brain just reminded me it's been, like, FOUR DAYS. They are tripping. Babies? Already? Also, where the hell is he getting money? I've been so confused by the fuck fest that I've not considered all the plot holes and shit I'm sure there are that I haven't mentioned.
-“Weeks turn into months" Four days of fucking and then a time skip. Wow.
-Ffs, marriage now? To this garbage dump of a man? Ofc she says yes.
-Old man, little girl, old man, little girl—my god, we get it.
-“I can’t wait to make you a real daddy.” Bastien is straight up crying in the club right now.
-OMG? It’s over?!? There’s 20% left on kindle and I didn’t realize it was a whole different book. THAT’S HOW IT ENDS? 75% was over the course of a week and now months later they are getting married. Wow.
-Well, thank god it's over, but now I'm even more pissed because WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.

Feral is pure FIRE! This story is so freaking hot. ♥ And it doesn't hold back at all. Each and every page sets you, as a reader, on fire. I absolutely loved that. I loved getting consumed and burned by Gemma and Jacob's story. 

The book starts off with Gemma. She is a reporter and she wants to interview Jacob. He just got released from prison, and she wants to get his side of the story. She cleverly gets inside of his house and is able to interview him.
But from the second their eyes meet their souls burn. And their attraction is instantaneous. 

He pushes her limits right from the get go. And all she wants is more and more. She purposely disobediences him. Just to get him riled up and push their lust into a higher fire. 

I adored every chapter and every kink. I love the part a third party plays in this book. And the ending was incredibly sweet and hot at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. 

The only thing I missed a little bit is more of an overall storyline. This book is like I said before, pure fire. And it executes that perfectly. But I also hoped for a bit more background stories. Gemma rather easily gives up her life. Doesn't she need to contact a few family members or friends? I wish the dynamic between Bastien and Jacob had a bit more depth. And part of the story line is the pain in Jacob's leg. But in the sex scenes he doesn't have any pain whatsoever. I would have loved to read more, non sexual, intimate scenes between Gemma and Jacob. 
I think Selena really has it in her to write a full length novel. So I do hope she will explore that in the future. Cause I truly think she would slay that!

A bunch of kinks were thrown around here, I feel like merely for the sake of shock factor and it ended up being absolutely unrealistic and annoying.
Also the writing was off-putting and unpleasant so overall a fail for me.

3.75 - 4 Feral indeed stars!!

This taboo romance has secured its place as 2023's most depraved and kinky read...at least for me. It may have been short but it did not shy away from copious amounts of fluids.

“I am the cat, Miss Stone. And you are the mouse. Do you know what happens when the cat finally corners the little mouse? He eats it.”

I enjoyed this smutastic novella but I wish there had been a little more realism with their f*cking. However, the heroine was a refreshing character that owned her sexuality and wasn't afraid to jump head first into new territory. The hero was was one of the dirtiest daddy Doms I've read and I'm glad he was softened a little at times.

"I want her soul. I want her branded for life. I want to be embedded inside of her in every way possible."

Feral was filthy so check your triggers when jumping into this short read. It won't be for everyone but I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be checking out this author's backlog.

So... i'm kinda dissapointed.

I expected passion and obsession born from a deep love...
I expected something feral.
Instead it was just lust.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good smut/no plot novella from time to time. But we are talking about 200 pages of just sex scenes... and then boom!! They are getting married because they are in love?! How?? When??
I can’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy the smut, because I did 😏😌.
But after a bit I started to lose interest in the story. I wanted just to be over with it 🤷‍♀️

I think it miss a bond between them, some kind of affection. Something meaningful to justify their actions/decisions.

Selena you have done it again! You have written a story full of hotness and spice, amazing characters and a beautiful setting in the bayou.
Jacob is a man struggling in his loneliness, a convicted man who struggles with his past mistakes. Gemma tries to interview him for work, hoping to tell his story. To say he was not receptive to her and her interview is a complete understatement, but still she soldiers on, hoping to change his mind.
Feral is one of those stories that while reading it the reader falls into the story head first and cannot stop reading. This couple was beyond passionate and sensual, some of the scenes were very exciting, especially the DVP scene
Wonderful story, complicated and loveable characters, very entertaining! ❤️

This book is not for the faint hearted!

I loved every second of it. I love how bold she is and how straightforward he is. He knows what he wants and he will tell you!

The way this book was written with the sex scenes and introduction to the kinks was so smooth! Everything was spoken about and even tho he told her his way is the only way she accepted it! And remember if Gemma is not complaining neither are you!

The scene with both him and his son 🥵 yet he is still possessive of her. She is his and only his don’t forget he’s feral 😏

Loved the ending! They deserve happiness and I hope they get their own family 💜

This is my first time reading from this author and she definitely served up a kinky, dirty ass time with this one! You have to know what you’re getting yourself into when you pick up a book titled “Feral” so I’m not gonna list all the damn trigger warnings, we’re all adults that suck and f*ck—so if you’re looking for a sweet and swoony love story, this is not the read for you, honey!

Gemma is a journalist from New York looking for her big break story and heads down to the swampy south to interview Jacob, a recently released convict and amputee who has declined all other interview requests. He’s not at all welcoming and flat out tells her no. She ends up missing her ride back into town and is essentially stuck in the swamp. He offers to put her up for the night but wants something in return..to put his P in her V, obviously!

Of course she acts like she’s not down but she eventually comes around and the banging begins!! And this ain’t your no glove-no love, responsible banging oh no, no, no. This is dirty no lube, no warm up, no thoughts boning! They pretty much bang their brains out, she very much takes on the daddy kink full force, and is so down for the pound that she would probably let him put it in her ear if he wanted to!

But my dear friends, it doesn’t stop there..we soon have the introduction of a third party, and it’s not just anyone..this is a very familiar person to both main characters—I won’t spoil that detail for you, though 😉😉😎 all I will say is that there is some three way fun and a double P in V scene, so buckle up!!

Overall, this was a dirty good time!! It is very much instalove and over the top, not at all realistic whatsoever; but, we all need a filthy little palette cleanser that requires little thought and delivers on the depravity, and this fits the bill! Will definitely read more from this author in the future!

Feral is a taboo romance filled with all the spice your smutty little heart could desire. I have been dying to read this after seeing all these hot teasers for this book and it absolutely blew me away! Feral is the very definition of a one handed read. Jacob is intense and fascinating and Gemma is just out there living her best life, indulging in her darkest desires! The story takes a turn at about the halfway mark, which was a twist I didn’t see coming, and I just ate up every second of this book. Feral is absolutely a must read for those who enjoy some Daddy kink in their life! I read smut pretty much daily, but this book had even me blushing at parts! At about 95% smut and 5% plot with spice so hot it had even me blushing, Feral is like the Holy Grail of smutty books!

If you like your smut with a side of romance, well then, this is the book for you. As always, Selena Moore has upped the game on erotica and she doesn't hold back AT ALL.

When Gemma seeks to interview a reclusive murderer, she has no idea what she's getting herself into. Jacob has shut himself off from the world since he was released from prison, but Gemma makes him want to open up his world to her. He's depraved, controlling, feral...and he's everything that Gemma wants.

This is a very taboo relationship and this book will not be for everyone. Jacob is old enough to be Gemma's father and there is some serious Daddy Kink in this story along with a full smorgasbord of dirty little deeds. Seriously, you'll need a shower not just to cool off but to cleanse your soul after this one. Somewhere in all of this filthy deliciousness though, there is a love story, and although there isn't a ton of angst or heavy emotion, it's a perfect little romantic escape. Oh! And I love the secondary characters here too (I personally like Gemma's best friend the most!) and I'd love to see Jacob's son get his own book.

If you're looking for a naughty little read, then you should definitely add this one to your TBR.

HOT, HOT, Grumpy/Sunshine Age Gap Romance

Jacob is a grumpy, kinky, older SOB and Gemma is younger, positive energy and dirty. Together they create a dynamic duo and engage in some very kinky, somewhat taboo (at times) activities that will have you grabbing for your wine, your fan and even a change of your panties!!! This book is delicious and I read it at a great time as it has a good storyline, fantastic heated scenes and I enjoyed all of the characters!!! I couldn’t put this one down!!

FERAL - Wild, untamed, savage and brutal. 36 chapters of pure smut. Is it a lot, over-the-top, full on? Hell yes... but sometimes you just need something so gloriously extreme to satisfy you. I absolutely loved Jacob. A growly, alpha ex-convict who has shunned all other interviews, except Gemma's (well he didn't have much of a choice). She is full of sass and strong-willed, though knows when to submit. If you're looking for your run-of-the-mill romance ... this is not the book for you. But if you like on the filthy side, and don't mind a few TWs, then read this. I could've done with more...

If you want a fun and easy read full of smut, this is for you. Heavy on the daddy kink. Age gap. Praise and degradation. Dvp. MFM scenes. The MCs felt a chemistry right from the start and their relationship is warp speed fast. Some of the scenes are kinky and depraved but who doesn’t like those? (Seriously, if this isn’t your thing then don’t read). HEA of course.

Unfortunately for Gemma, Jacob lives a very secluded life, and she has no way back to the main land. Her only options are sleep outside to with the Crocodiles or become submissive to Jacob.

This book will either make your panties wet or you’ll be melting in your panties. Either way, I don’t think you’ll be ready for what this book has to offer. And some scenes had my jaw dropping, with maybe a little drool. I may or may not have reread these scenes a few times 😏. As soon as I heard about this book, I knew I needed this. Selena did not disappoint with Feral. In fact, it was MORE than I expected. Yes, the majority of this book is pure filth, dirty smut But there is also a very cute love story and instant connection between Gemma and Jacob.

Please read the trigger warnings before you start this book - it will not be for everyone!! If the trigger warnings do not scare you, please enjoy this fun, dirty read.
