This unique interactive guidebook focuses on coping with the emotional side of cancer, an aspect that is often overlooked. Written for patients, family and friends, this volume explores those vital emotional connections, all of which reinforce affiliation, love, friendship and resiliency. You'll also find sound mental health hundreds of specific ways individuals can communicate with and assist each other; prompts to explore responses and feelings; and much more on perforated pages to allow for easy use.
Someone recommended this book to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.
To be honest -- I really didn't find it all that helpful. There wasn't a lot of information that I felt I could use to help me deal with cancer treatment and there was some information that was completely useless, like the comment from the person who responded something to the effect of "nothing" when asked what someone did for them during treatment.
Perhaps it was my apparently unique situation -- I'm a single, no children cancer survivor and the book seems to be more focused on people dealing with cancer that have a spouse and/or children around.
It does have some useful lists of things to consider and be aware of while going through treatment, it just didn't meet my expectations.
