A chance encounter in a Denver bar sets off a series of events for Brandon, an average guy living a typical bachelor life in the city. He drinks too much, works only to afford his habits at an unfulfilling job, and lives paycheck to paycheck in his search for something that might fill a void that seems to drag him down.

It starts when Brandon meets Cody and Averie, a couple from a small farm town who are in the city for a visit. Their presence breathes memories of a suppressed past into Brandon's life as suddenly as the winter storm that brought the couple with it.

Soon after, Brandon meets Amber, a seemingly fragile girl living in the Colorado farmland struggling to cope with crippling anxiety in the wake of family loss and struggle. Their encounter strikes an unlikely friendship that brings hope and a vision for a better life to both of them. That is, until tragedy strikes Amber's life yet again.

After a terrible accident, Brandon finds himself in a world between worlds, a place of death and of the dying, in between the living and the hereafter. Amber, connected through their bond, soon discovers a new ability to interact with this uncanny place. A light in the darkness, the bond between the two attracts a more sinister following that only Amber can see and an evil that only she can help fight.
