HOLY FREAKING WOW!!!!
This book was amazing and my everything! Hot as fudge, sexy as hell, and action-packed. Full of fun twists and turns that were heartfelt and packed with all the feels. This book has sexy assassins and bad guys you love to hate.
I absolutely love Ms. Rayne's writing! She pulls you into a story and doesn't let you go. The reveal of Hawks superpower had me so shook-eth. I mean how does she do it?? I have to go back and read this all over again for clues because honestly, she blew my mind! I love how she makes the villains so interesting, you can't tell if they're completely evil or not.
The story was paced so well and didn't drag at all! I need to say it again, I truly truly loved and enjoyed the heck out this. I tried to read it as slow as I could and actually finished it in three days. I want more! No, scratch that, I neeeeeeeed more! I want all the Church stories, I need Many, I need Seth, I need Lucien, I need Beast (who we didn't get to meet but I feel like I know him), and definitely Priest! Forget that, I need the whole Cathedral!
I love the journey Ms. Tiya took us on and I literally felt like I was watching a movie! I'm so blown away from what I read and if you loved her book Aphla you are going to love this even more. She outdid herself I couldn't be more pleased as a reader!

5.0 ++⭐️ There is hope ya’ll, that an outstanding, top-notch IR book that I’ve been clamoring for can be written after all! Although I have found a few books that meet the criteria that warrant a 5 star rating from me, this book has to be in the top 5–in fact, it may have taken the number one spot for 2020.
I am sure there are many very eloquent reviews about this book (I rarely read reviews before writing my own so that I will not be influenced by them). BUT, I wouldn’t be Sassy if I didn’t at least put my two cents in. This is a phenomenal read in every way from beginning to end. It ticks all the boxes indicative of a superbly written romantic suspense, action-packed, mystery thriller. The pacing, storytelling, steamy sex and great editing of this book is an exceptional accomplishment.
The main characters, Walker (Hawk) and Brooklyn, are characters whom I can’t help but love. They are impressive and dynamic. Brooklyn is one of the strongest black women I have read in quite some time, and I say it is most gratifying. Hawk is the quintessential alpha, tempered with equanimity as well as compassion, love, respect and loyalty. In other words, an Alpha to die for. Both Hawk and Brooklyn have torturous pasts, and while they didn’t emerge unscathed, they try to do what is necessary to survive and thrive. I would characterize this story as a slow burn, but the wait is definitely worth it. The sex scenes are downright combustible!
Additionally, the slow revelation pertaining to Brooklyn’s twin sister, Albany, was done so masterfully. There are twists and turns that I never saw coming. Even the scariest of Hawk’s brothers have endearing qualities that are so fascinating, they are begging for their stories to be told—OK, that is my entreaty to Ms. Rayne for subsequent books about the “brothers” and the Church—please?
To sum things up, this is a compellingly extraordinary work of art, and I loved every single bit of it. The book is superbly written and, trust me, it should not be missed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Hawk aka Walker is a hit man who retires from life in a secret organization of assassins called Church. Before leaving the organization he falls in love with Red a quasi member of the organization who refuses to retire with him. Five years later, Hawk comes out of retirement to find out that Red has been killed and he's being framed for her murder. The Church gives him two weeks to solve Red's murder along with her twin sister Brooklyn. Not only does Hawk have to figure out who killed Red but who put a hit on his life.
This book was so good and I couldn't put it down. Brooklyn is beyond hilarious, she's the type of realistic heroine who is bad ass and can recognize the crazy around her with a sense of humor. Hawk is an unproblematic hero that would do anything to keep Brooklyn safe and avenge Red's death. There are a ton of twist and turns and a surprise that made me go back and re-read sections because I was completely surprised like the heroine.
The author definitely knows how to tell a story and I've enjoyed all her latest books. I look forward to reading the other crazy members of Church. I'm definitely curious about the type of woman who could fall in love with Many. This was a five star read for me and going on my top reads for 2020.

Have you ever read a book that had your pulse racing and you experienced some out of your skin sensations? Well, Hawk by Tia Rayne did that for me. After trying to gather the right descriptive for this book I came up with a mixture of movies. Think John Wick meets Marvel Comics and you’ll be on the right track.
Walker, the anti-villain in this book was perfection. Gorgeous, dangerous and romantic. He knew how to let his lady lead and when to take over. He was a beast in the bedroom. The first encounter he had with Brooklyn had me literally panting. I was out of breath by the time he was finished with her. It was like the author reached into my fantasy ‘spank’ bank and made a withdraw.
I don’t want to go too much into the plot because it will ruin the story for anyone reading this. Trust me, you want to find all the surprises and little hidden gems throughout the story on your own. Just know this is a must read book for 2020!
The story draws you in from beginning to end. All you want is for Walker aka Hawk to get his Happily Ever After. You want that for Brooklyn too. They both deserve happiness and to be together. The only issue I had with the book was that it ended on a cliffhanger. However, it is the perfect setup for book 2 in the Church Series.

Hawk is a deadly assassin for the organization called the church, unfortunately a mistake made on his last job leads to devastating consequences and his friend is killed. Fast forward years later and Hawk steps out of retirement to save her twin sister and the woman he's quickly coming to love.
Brooklyn has had a hard life, she's an art teacher and her twin is her best friend. Upon her twins death however Brooklyn is drawn into a clandestine world she never knew existed. Secrets are revealed and she has to face her sister's double life to find the person's responsible for her death and make them pay. With her sister guiding from the beyond Brooklyn finds danger, adventure and the love of a lifetime.

1)The beginning was slow and chaotic as heck. So many twists and turns just to keep the suspense of the sister and her actual relationship with the H until the grand reveal
2) Again something about the relationship development doesn't sit right with me. Maybe they go from I'm attracted to ily too quickly? Idk book 3 by this author and I still can't put my finger on it
3)Pretty interesting set up, I love when badasses are actually badasses and lots of bodies fell to satisfy my need for bloodshed
4)Pretty ok characters, not TSTL.h and a strong possessive H who unalives anyone who threatens her.......we stand a J/P king!
5)Good secondary characters with enough crazy to have you curious and eager to get to their story. I hope Many gets his story told.
My biggest issue
The sister
Now I don't like sibling swapping.... Personally no dick that's touched a family member or friend can touch me... that's just me. Now in all fairness he didn't have sex with the sister but the fact that he was in love with the sister because she wore the persona of the h.....yeah my brain isn't computing this. It's like he started falling in love with the h as the sister pretended to be her? Then just continued? Ion know man......I didn't like it. Without this aspect of the storyline I'd have definitely rated this higher

I wasn't completely clear on the H tho...if he wasn't sleeping with the sister was he sleeping with anyone? Idk but he didn't come across as a manwhore

One of the best book I've read this year. This author definitely has a talent for storytelling. Passages reenacted from words transformed into a seamless, digital movie. The plot packed intrigue, drama, sexual tension, and mystery into an unforgettable love story. Hawk, the gifted ("superpowers"), sinfully sexy, alpha totally devoted to the love of his life, Brooklyn, a vulnerable yet spirited heroine, enter an adventure to uncover the truth behind the sister, Albany's death. Several interesting side characters join the endeavor with their own back stories along the way.
The plot and character development were exceptional; the action scenes, like a leading box-office film. The piercing intensity of Hawk's feelings for Brooklyn touched my soul. The two shared a heady chemistry. Oh, and calm yet lethal Hawk could put it down not only in sheets but also to defend his lady love. There were also great pockets of humor in the story. That angry cat metaphor scene had me in stitches.
The more the tale unfolded the stronger my personal attachment to the story, the characters. Feelings and character encounters besides internally visual, were touching. This book left me emotionally wrenched but uplifted.

Church tells the story of Brooklyn, looking for her twin sister's murderer with the help of an assassin (not her sister's assassin). It's an action packed mystery laced with a romance .
It's also a page turner, I wasn't able to put it down once I started it, but I didn't like it as much as I loved the "Lilly" series. It's personal, I had a hard time connecting with the main characters, all I kept thinking was : "These people need professionnal help". The more I learnt about their past, the more uncomfortable I felt.
I still recommend it.

Wow!
This was an amazing storyline it was suspenseful it had me on the edge of my seat. I love Walker and Brooklyn characters. I loved the other characters too. I don't want to say to much to spoil other readers experience. I hope it's not a long wait for the next book.

This book was amazing I pictured Hawk as John Wick that is one bad assassin I won’t tell his secret Brooklyn is a little rough but I will blame it on how she grew up her and Walker on perfect for each other. I can’t wait to read the other brothers story I am sad Priest and Albany won’t get one.this book is awesome and I will be reading it again I recommend this book

This book is a wild ride, and I was grabbed from the very first page.
Hawk is so intriguing, and you can't help but have so many questions about him that you need answered. Albany is a kickass heroine with an alluring quirk. I won't give away anything about the plot, because I think this story needs to be experienced with no pre-conceived notions.
I can't wait to read the next installment.

Ok, so let's start at the beginning.
I didn't know what to expect. I got into the story real easy, it's fast-passed, like an action movie, actually. I was reading it, it was ok. I fell in love with the heroine right away! She's funny as hell and takes no bs from anyone.
At first I didn't know how I felt about Hawk. I mean it all kinda felt too sudden, maybe a bit pushed. But I guess you could say he grew on me. Just like mold on an old cheese. Lol.
But THEN. Towards the end.. Omg the preciousness! I almost cried! I truly did not see that coming. I am in total love with him now!
A definite must read!

This whole book was like a very dramatic hill (not a rollercoaster because it wasn't complicated enough for the metaphor).
It was a very difficult beginning, as in it took me SO long to get into it. While sitting around with a baby on maternity leave, I can usually crush a book in a few hours. It took me at least 2 days to get to 20% of this book. I wasn't a fan of the whole sister plot, which makes the whole thing a bust because lol that's basically the entire plot of the book.
Girl had basically a golden clam (well not technically) and was every single persons favourite human of all time. At first it was cute, then it was strange, then it got really annoying. I don't care how well she is at "reading" people. No black woman is going to be the epitome of female companionship to every single fucking man she meets lmao. Apparently this story exists in a world without racism but ok!
Around the middle of the book I really started enjoying it! I loved Brooklyn through and through. I found myself thinking how I would react to certain situations and she ended up doing what I had thought of! She and Walker had great chemistry and were really fun to read.
I find this happens a lot for me with books, but by the time these two got together... the writing devolved. All the sly, clever sexiness of the first half of the book was out the window and everyone is screaming gross things during sex, everyone they meet is super chummy, plot lines get wrapped up really quickly, nothing has very lasting consequences...
It just all fell very flat for me very fast. Actually it fell splat, because I was really enjoying myself up until that point.
Technically this is like a 3 or 4 star book but my personal preferences got in the way.

5 stars!!!! Absolutely divine story, Hawk is the man! This book had me going in circles. Great suspense read and all the characters, Priest, Beast, Many, Seth and Lucien, AKA Twin, Zel, and so many more.
This is the story of Kilian Walker, AKA Hawk and Brooklyn AKA Red, or even the Painter? Lol. Hawk works for an organization called the Church, and her sister worked for an organization called the Nunnery. They are tasked with finding out who killed her twin sister and what an action filled, bloody killing, suspense dreading, and heart-pounding story. I love Hawk with all the feels, and he has officially made it to my book boyfriend list! He was awesome and beautiful with Brooklyn. Now, Brooklyn was a good character, an art teacher, in fact, but there were some dialogues going on in her head, at times, where I was like, "ummm, why would you even think that? Hawk is the perfect guy for you." Gah! Took her a minute, but she finally realized what her sister Albany was setting her up for, all along. I have to say, though, I did figure out Hawk's superpower, but it did take me a minute. Lol. It's just great writing over all. I can't wait, and I mean this with all haste, I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!!

What? WHAT???
Tiya.... I need to treat you to dinner or something cause... Forget about the action and adventure. Praise be to, but for a second, let's forget about the slow burn romance that turns into an inferno. That. Cli-max. Took. Me. Out!!! I must have looked like that emoji with the explosion happening in the brain area. What?!!! And then to look back and paint my own picture, everything made sense. I absolutely loved Hawk and Little Painter. At first I thought it would be weird because of Red, but I quickly came to terms with that. Their connection was undeniable and it gave me life. Now, what also gave me life was Hawk's dang family! Who am I gonna love more? Priest, who stands around and drinks champagne when ish is going down? Who the heck is gonna take on Many? Seth?....yes. Zel, Lucien! It's too much. It's too much. This book was everything. Everything! Y'all, just do it and get it over with. Thank me later.

I am kind of on a roll reviewing her books because I just joined the community, and I'm trying to catch up; bare with me heheh
THIS BOOK! THIS FREAKING BOOK! I think this is the only MF I'd read again (I am kind of obsessed with MM now), but seriously, it is THAT good! Trust me.
I truly cannot justify the epic-ness of this book! AND THE DAMN PLOT TWIST! I think I cried reading this because it was so gripping. The way this author weaved the story, a beautiful story of loss, heartbreak, second chances that are so unexpected, and all consuming love! I NEED A HAWK LIKE YESTERDAY.
If you want a book that keeps you on your toes guessing every second, with a hot badass female character, and her mans who is also badass, and a gripping UNIQUE, steamy story, you will want to pick this up. Just saying. You'll thank me later :)

This is another great read. Its a series and this is the first book in that series. I really enjoy this author and everything she has ever written which I have read, has always had me hooked and this book is no different. When you discover Hawk's "super power" you will be amazed like I was. I would recommend this book as a good read! I cannot wait for the next one in the series.

The creative juices fücking FLOW in this plot! My jaw was on the floor one too many times.
I LOVE a narrative that’s a puzzle. And honestly, as much fun as I might have figuring out the pieces, I love it even more when the author doesn’t have it click until I’m a few sentences away.

This was a super addicting story. I was nervous in the beginning, but I am so glad I trusted the process. I suspected Walker/Hawk's "superpower," but when it was revealed I was still surprised it was true.
And the ending!!! A girl needs to sleep! But instead, here I am getting book 2 queued up and ready to go.
There are mysteries left unsolved at the end of this book, so I'm hoping there are more reveals as the books progress. I also want every one of Walker/Hawk's crazy band of brothers to get their own HEA...Even Many. They need someone to give them their belly rubs.

Hawk and Brooklyn's story is amazing! The plot totally thickens with this story. The action is Non-Stop. The main characters' chemistry is deep. I totally enjoyed taking the ride with them during their amazing journey. Hawk's superpower is one that took me totally by surprised. Brooklyn is one very lucky girl to have found such an incredible guy. Together their story was sexy as all get out. I highly recommend this very suspenseful novel you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

Another 5-star read from Tiya Rayne
Wow was this a really fun and adventurous read! Brooklyn and Walker really scorched my Kindle! The chemistry with these characters was so well-written and really had me hooked. The backstory was also pretty damn good with lots of suspense and really drags you in. The book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger and set up for book 2 in the series and I can't wait for that to come out!

WOW!!!Mind blown.....This book had me captivated from the get go. I loved Brooke and Walker together, she was such a strong female character and Walker, OMG!!Swoooon. This is by far my favourite read in 2020, I couldn't be happier with this choice, this is a MUST read!

This was my first book by Tiya, and I was not disappointed. I found my next book family obsession. I can't wait for what happens next, but I love Hawk and Brooklyn together.
