I Wasn't Touched

With a backdrop of Washington DC, three friends enjoy the kinky and wild side of life though a swinger's network. Kinky and wild is soon replaced with danger as a serial killer is on the loose.

While the premise was interesting, "Touch" lacks sorely in development of plot and character. As a result, there is not much of a story. None of the characters' voices/personalities are distinctive. Had the start of each chapter not indicated a character's name, it could have easily been anyone's narration. And because their voices blend with little to no distinction, narration from so many characters is not necessary. I noted the author's attempts to delve in a hidden world of erotica and fantasy as well as an element of mystery with a sub-plot of a serial killer. Neither is successful. The erotic fantasy world consists of a few unnecessary sex scenes. The lifestyle itself is barely addressed. That serial killer plot, though important to the overall story, seems like an afterthought with as little attention that's given to it and its hasty wrap up. Editing is nonexistent. Missing commas and the inappropriate use of the word "allot" (should be "a lot") plague this novel. I strongly urge the author to seek the assistance of a copyeditor as well as a development editor before publishing any other titles.

Underdeveloped and error-ridden, as is, "Touch" is not a book I could recommend to others.

Baffled

This one thru me completely. I wasn't expecting one of the girls at all. I decide suspect the brother & the boyfriend. I sure read the clues wrong however not having all the info can do that. Well done!

I have to say that I LOVED the premise of this story but there were a few things that bothered me.

1. Punctuation: This story moved too fast for me because there were very few comas and lots of run on sentences. I had to read and re-read many sections to understand the point. Definitely could have used a second look on editing before publication.

2. Very important parts, skipped: I was shocked when so many revelations were not put in detail. When one character finds out that the father he knew was not his real father, we didn't even get to see his reaction, how the conversation went with his sister when he found out or anything. We got the after taste of his feelings and it was dry. The same went for when a character found out that he had a brother, who was currently in the hospital after being attacked. I was expecting to see their discussion and the revelation. What were the characters reactions? Were they in shock? Were they happy? Nothing was there.

3. I agree with the reader who gave one star, that I was very shocked about who the killer was and NO I do not think that is cool or part of a good story. I like to feel like I am IN the story, so I guess and try to figure out who the killer is, and when I had absolutely no hint or no idea who the killer was then I did not feel like I was in the story. My reaction was literally, "Fa real? Her? She didn't even seem crazy." I think stories should at least make you think something is wrong with a person and then they can flip and make the killer a different person. I mean don't we all love it when we feel like, "I thought he was the killer, but oh man! It was that other guy the whole time!" Kinda like The Usual Suspects...

All and all I think this was a good story. I like the characters (even though, I kept mistaking Jade for Sidney and vice versa) and I could not put the book down. It was short... I could have used a nice amount of more details and length to the book. I finished it in 3 days, with distractions.

Upbeat, fast paced, engagingly intriguing read

WOW….this was a great novel!

I braced myself for what was coming for sure….SEX. I knew that as it is promoted as an erotica tale. I was very interested in delving into a whole story and not just sex for the sake of it. I was not disappointed at all as Envy Red penned a tale that kept you captivated from the very beginning. This is a story of Sidney and her two best friends, Nina and Jade. It takes you through the perils and tragedy of Sidney’s family life to the move that connected her and Nina thus their friendship ensued. As it unfolds Jade rounds of the three and they are living their lives to the fullest on their own terms.

These three highly successful women participate in “the life” and we witness many parts of their sexual appetite, endeavors and adventures alone with the other participants of such. Their regular routine is interrupted when Washington, DC is gripped by a sexual predator serial killer.

The twist and turns in this book keeps one pondering what’s next as you are immersed into the lives of these three women; Kenny, Sidney’s brother and a host of characters that are integral parts of their lives. Kudos to this author for crafting a tale that is full of hard hitting life issues, success, adventure, togetherness and thrill. I give this novel 4.5 stars.

When it arrived, the cover drew me in and i shut down my computer and got right to reading!

The story began great and keep me interested. I cant wait to read Jaded.
The lives these three ladies led was fast and free and they pulled no punches doing what they wanted, when they wanted. When the murderer entered the story though, i was hoping for more. I saw a few others commenting back and forth about it, and i agreed that it would of been nice to see an arrest, someone on the horizon, something. I am a crime buff i watch all the crime shows. So usually there is something, even if who you think it is is not the person there is usually some kind of clue, no matter if they lead you in the wrong direction or not. there is something! The only thing said about the killer was they type...:( but i still loved it TOUCH overall.
My only real complaint was all the narration. I wish she had of shown us more and not told us. some chapters were 100% narration... maybe that's a 1st person narrative thing, im not sure. I would have like to have heard the convo with the inside man who told her the info about the killer instead of being told about the conversation....etc
But that was really the main thing i disliked about this book.

Having said that,I Enjoyed reading it overall. It was easy to read, it flowed and kept me engaged.
Which is why i gave it 4 stars.
WHEN IS JADED DUE? LOL

Touch by Envy Red is provocative and unpredictable, sexual, and sensual. In reading Touch, I was introduced to Jade, Nina, Sidney, and King. Envy threw me for a serious loop. I was reading the end of this book with my mouth wide open because I did not see this ending coming. This was my first introduction into this world of steamy, sexual seduction. I did not want this story to end. These ladies held nothing back when it came to exploring their sexual selves as they found themselves at Chantal's getting into more trouble than they need to. Nina, Jade, and Sidney were protected in their friendships, and tried to keep each other safe with all that is happening in this city. But there was definitely a stranger among them, and this nicely crafted erotica, murder mystery kept me enthralled, not because I was forced, but because I was curious as ever. Envy did a great job putting this story together. The novel began with a riveting sequence between Carolyn and Earl (I wanted more of this), and ended with a shocking revelation that was hidden so well. I wish Envy had provided me with a hint to who was the killer, and even if my had guess was well off, I would have been ok. I know Envy is working on a sequel, or at least a 2nd novel that will be even better than the first.

Sidney, Nina and Jade are best friends leading very different lives, yet they share a unique indulgence. In the midst of enjoying their underground entertainment, a string of heinous crimes ensue, causing them to take a hiatus from their shared passion. When two of the friends decide to reenter the scene without the knowledge of the third, their lives are forever changed as the unimaginable takes place and everyone is left devastated.

This was my first experience reading a book in this genre, and I was pleasantly surprised that the entire book was not laden with extreme sexual content. There were some editing flaws throughout the book, but they did not detract from the story. In fact, as the plot thickened and more was revealed, I became totally engulfed in trying to figure out what was going to happen next.

The ending to Touch was constructed in such a fashion that one could walk away completely fulfilled. Intended to be a stand-alone title, the book does seem to serve as prequel to the recently released title, Jaded. I am positive that Touch will have you yearning for Jaded to see what is in store for the characters and possibly satisfy some of the questions that you may have been left with.

Touch" was at times hard for me to read. I loved the Envy Red focused on the tight friendships between the 3 young ladies, that they were all sucessful and how they all shared the interest in the swingers network. Being that Sidney, Nina and Jade came from different walks of life, I liked how they had a bond that could not be broken. I didn't like that Sidney, never found a companion, unlike Sidney and Jade. I must say the twist at the end of the book really threw me. I would have really wanted to know more about Jade's past, to get a better understanding as to why she turned out the way she did.

This book was filled with mystery, friendship, family and sex. Lots of sex. It was a good read but I would have liked to see a little more of the conversations going on in key areas of the story. There were some discoveries made that we (the reader) weren't privy to the conversation. I don't like giving the story away so I cant elaborate completely but it would have been nice to have more detail. Also the ending had me like Whoa!!!! I didn't see that coming at all and I even went back to previous chapters thinking I missed something. I would have liked to see more of the storyline in other areas besides the plot of the secret sex society. Overall I thought the book was good.

Although I'm not much of an urban exotic reader, I will admit that "Touch" was a very good read. Envy Red did a great job with introducing the reader to the characters and their lifestyle. And by adding murder in the story was great. I really enjoyed the twist in the end. Without giving it away, it's not who you think..lol. I definitely recommend "Touch" by Envy Red. I will be looking for more books coming from her.

Envy Red's "Touch" FREE on Kindle!! I jumped at the chance to read one of her books. After reading this book I'm so upset I waited two weeks to allow Envy to pull me into her creation.
Sidney, Nina and Jade had a friendship many of us women have, so it made it easy to relax into her characters. I loved every twist and turn in "Touch". Envy really left it open and gave you a Bang in the end. I love when I can't put a book down!! I enjoyed this book and will be grabbing "Jaded" next!!!!

This was a good book and the more and more I read the more it seemed the characters personalities were revealed. I I sort of got lost with so many characters and the quick transitons from character to character. The end definitely took me by surprise. I am now reading Jaded.

Very weird read was kinda if-ish most the read but then the end WOW was not expecting that at all, but at the same time it kind of just ended with all the other characters we never got to see other people's reactions to the shocking news.
