This Time Forever

Rate this book
Delaney Brannigan and Blake Morrisson met at the Glebe Point annual costume dance, known only to each other as the leopard and the cowboy---but, as Delaney soon discovers, the cowboy she'd thought had ridden off into the sunset never to tempt her again, is none other than the man she came from New York to find and discredit. Against her will, Delaney is drawn deeper and deeper into an overwhelming attraction to Blake---an attraction she can't give in to if she wants to keep the one thing she values more than anything else.
Blake has spent months trying to find the son he never knew he had until a chance encounter with an old friend. Finding the boy has been the only thing he cared about---that is until Delaney Brannigan came to town. Now the bewitching woman has him thinking he might have finally found the one woman who could make him want to settle down.
When the private investigator hired to find Blake's son shows up to tell Blake he's located the boy, Delaney's hopes and dreams are shattered and Blake discovers she's not at all what she seemed.
Will these two lovers lose one another in a web of deception, or will the small town boy and the girl from New York find a way to trust their hearts and find a once in a lifetime happiness.

I was pleasantly surprised by this enjoyable freebie! Once again I was drawn into the story after reading the free sample, and well, I just couldn't stop. Come to find out, there was more to this plot than what the book description revealed. That piqued my interest and I found myself immersed in this emotional story.

Delaney and Blake are the major players in this book and their instant attraction to one another causes a dilemma for them. Upon meeting Blake for the first time, Delaney only knows that she is drawn to the sexy cowboy at a Halloween party, and is not aware of his true identity. When she realizes who he is, it presents an opportunity for her, but one that will also lead to heartache. I really liked her, felt that she meant no harm and was only doing what needed to be done to make a very important decision, one that affected so many lives. Blake’s explosive reaction upon learning her real purpose for coming to Cedar Cove made me angry with him, and yet I felt sorry him. This is where the book really begins to pick up and what ensues is an emotional journey about forgiveness and understanding.

Delaney and Blake’s falling “head over heels” for each other after spending so little time together was somewhat hard to believe, but I guess when you know, you know. I was taken by Blake’s son, but on occasion his dialogue hovered on more mature than he was initially presented. One minute he was talking like a toddler and then more like an eight year old. However, kids never fail to surprise. Enter Justin, who we meet briefly at the beginning of the book and get to enjoy towards the end…yummy! His appearance reveals yet another surprise, and he is charming, kind and I want to get to know him better. Lucky me, because there is a second book in this series that I will happily buy at its bargain price. Bottom line, the writing was good and flowed easily, plenty of dialogue; interesting characters and plot, although concerning certain matters I wanted a bit more information. The steam factor is light, but the passion is undeniable, and we get an epilogue…my kind of author. Nice book to cozy up to on a lazy afternoon!

Thanks to the Patricia Paris for the freebie…I’m off to buy Letters To Gabriella and see what’s doing in Cedar Cove.

Delaney Brannigan comes to Cedar Cove to secretly determine what to do about her cousin's child... Ben was living with Delaney when his mother died, and now she's searching for Ben's dad to see if he's fit to raise Ben. She doesn't bargain for finding Blake Morrisson to be devastatingly attractive. Blake has been searching for months to find the son he didn't know he had. It's inevitable that Delaney's deception will be uncovered, but will love be able to overcome the lies?

It is not a badly written book, but I had a difficult time enjoying it. I work with social services, and the situation described in this book would be all but impossible to happen in real life. In no conceivable situation would custody be determined or handled in this way... I know I should suspend disbelief, but it goes beyond to a fundamental lack of understanding in regards to social services... as if in the book social services just doesn't exist. It was frustrating.
My other major difficulty was the way Blake acts for the second half of the book. He's emotionally abusive and controlling... and the "but hey, I love you!" doesn't make it better. It doesn't absolve the bad decisions and hurtful comments. I know it's fiction, but I see it happen too much in real life. I kept wondering what will happen next time Blake gets angry with Delaney? I worry about the women who read this and recognize themselves in the pages. The women who stay with a man who treats them badly, because they love each other.

I am probably reading too much into this, but it is difficult to read this book separate from my job in social services... some parts are nowhere near accurate, and the rest is all to accurate.

DESERVES SIX STARS!

Yes, this great love story deserves a minimum of six stars!

This was my first time to read a novel by Patricia Paris. I heard it was getting rave reviews and as soon as Patricia put it on Amazon “free”, I downloaded a copy. I’m sure glad I did!

My favorite romance novelist is Dorothy Garlock. Patricia has written this story with the same quality, excitement and finesse of Garlock.

There aren’t any characters in this wonderful story, I dislike like. You will quickly fall in love with them all.

You’ll find yourself continually hoping Delaney and Blake will stop pretending they aren’t in love with one another and stop bickering.

Is their mutual love for a child going to be enough to bring them together forever? Well, you must read this true love story and find out.

I will definitely be reading the sequel: Letters to Gabriella.

Perfect Mix of Steam Heat and Innocence

Putting eReaders on smart phones is dangerous, especially when This Time Forever is downloaded. For 2 days, work was unbearable, tv shows didn't hold my attention, and sleep? Forget about it! I didn't want to put my phone down. I left it on between subways, thumbed the screen while in class, and cuddled with my mobile device in bed at night. I was hooked from the first chapter.

Delaney is innocent, spunky, lovable, and strong. And I LOVED that she was a red head! Her independent, yet caring personality reminded me of many fierce females leading ladies in Nora Roberts's romances, and also like Maggie in R. Lynn Wilson's Maggie's Fall.

The steamy chapters were hot! Sorry Delaney, I think I'm in love with Blake Morrison.

This was the first time I had read a book by this author.
The story follows Blake who at the beginning of the book finds out that he has fathered a child and he starts the journey to find his child and his mother. The other string of the story follows Delaney who is caring for her cousin's son and goes to Glebe Point to try and find out more about him.
They meet at the local annual fancy costume dance and sparks fly, although Blake has no idea who she is. It is not long after that Black discovers that the "leopard" he met at the dance is Delaney and after a night together caused by a road incident she flees back to New York having uncovered nothing sinister about him. Blake has been left unsure of what happened between them to prompt her quick exit without telling him but it is not long before she is back to tell him the real reason she came to Glebe Point.
Blake meanwhile finds out that his son is alive and well and a PI comes to his home at the same time as Delaney is there waiting to reveal her secret. As the PI reveals his findings it becomes clear to Blake that Delaney has not been truthful with him, in fact he is certain that she used his for her own enjoyment. For Delaney her life has been
upturned and her dreams of a happy future are in tatters.
As the book moves to its conclusion, will Blake and Delaney be forever lost to each other or will they find the happiness they both deserve. This is the first book in a series and Book 2 follows the life of Blake's brother Justin who appears in this book.
I would give this book 4 stars - an easy romantic read and one those who like a romantic read where the main male character is such a likeable guy. I read this one within 24 hours,

SPOILER ALERT - Sorta...

What a wonderfully written, fun story! I have to say that I really enjoyed this. I'd never read anything by Ms Paris so I had no expectations at all. But I thought it sounded like a good read, so I gave it a try. I'm so glad that I did.

I fell in love with the characters pretty fast. The character of Delaney is an only child, as am I. I found it so easy to identify with her and her reactions, it was uncanny! I can't say that I would have done the same things she did, but I knew where she was coming from. (So that's my spoiler #1). Both she and the leading man were wonderfully written. I found myself laughing at them, being frustrated with them, and sometimes almost crying at the things they did! All of the characters in the book were fun and were the kind of people we all have in our lives.

The story moves along at a nice easy pace, and at no point did it drag along or seem to just wander off the rails. I so enjoyed my time spent in Cedar Cove, I'll go back to visit! The final few chapters of the book are wonderfully written, and there is one chapter, close to the end of the book, that had me laughing out loud. You'll know it when you get to it, because it's just so amusing you can't help but laugh! (That's spoiler #2)

The story is fun, and refreshing, and the characters are marvelous! It's more of a slice of life read, because the situation could very well happen to anyone. If you want an enjoyable read, this is it. As you can tell, my spoilers aren't much of a spoil, either!

Romance = fantasy = take me away stories not really tethered in reality – the way we would choose Life, Love and Relationships to exist if we really had a choice in the delicate mixture of desire, baggage and sexuality. Ultimately, we don’t. We sometimes have to sleep in the bed we create, make it daily, divorce it eventually and deal with the demons of why? Why?
Precisely why we have wonderful, nuanced writers who give us white lace, white knights, picturesque, aphrodisiac sandy landscapes that cry romance, romance, romance. Ahhhh…ROMANCE!
THIS TIME FOREVER wooed me into its fantasy bubble and kept me there – the dance floor costume party tete-a-tete was fabulous. The angst of two people trying to be together against all fabricated odds…delicious. Patricia Paris weaved a delicate balance in giving just enough fantasy, then dowsing it with the right amount of reality to make it believable.
I did have some fault though – being a New Yorker I found it hard to believe in a 26-year-old virgin, even though I did understand the writer’s motivation for doing this.
I have already downloaded LETTERS TO GABRIELLA, the next installment of Patricia Paris’s exquisite offering. I know when it comes to fantasy and romance…there is only one place to go!
Ahhhh…ROMANCE!
XOXO Patricia Paris

Ok... This was intense... You have a lying woman hiding a child from his father. She dies & her cousin who wants to adopt the little boy goes to check out the dad to see if he is really bad as her cousin portrays. Obviously not. He's great. After she allows a complicated relationship to start, he finds out his son who he has been looking for lives with her.... He's PISSED!! AND thats the first 25% or so... Much more happens & he has to figure it all out.

What bugged me was:

I CANNOT STAND any book that has a whole bunch of dramatic suspense & then all of a sudden, one of the characters resolve all the issues in their head & rationalizes & excuses behavior without asking the other person. The internal dialogue drives me crazy! If a girl has intentions & does something for a reason, the male should actually have a conversation with her of the how and why instead of at 85% decide he forgives her & tells himself the reason why she did what she did. I cannot accept an answer someone came up with on their own in their head. It's totally unrealistic.

So... it lost a star! It totally had me until that point! AHHHHH!!

"Dance with me, handsome." The wonderful dialogue by the author sets the tone in this captivating and charming romance that takes place in a down-home, peaceful coastal community of Maryland's Eastern Shore on the Chesapeake Bay.
I truly adored the characters the author skillfully crafted and fashioned in this novel.
As true life goes -sometimes it is love at first sight for a couple. It seemed to be just that was for the beautiful, red-haired Delaney and handsome, self-assured, but vulnerable Blake. Even if the true love is consummated and blessed with a child, can love last?
Delaney and Blake discover they are in a dilemma. Will their love be torn apart with conflict and turmoil or will they live happily ever after?
I believe you will enjoy every twist and turn in "This Time Forever".

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very easy read that sucked you into the story very quickly. After a few chapters you had to keep going.

The characters are people that readers want to read about. They are two average people who both set out looking for something. What they found was the last thing they ever expected. Throughout this story the characters experience many ups and downs. There are many reasons for them to stay apart, but they cannot overcome the magnetic effects of the love between them.

This is a story any true romantic will love.

This is the first time I've read a book by Paris, but it won't be the last.

I thoroughly enjoyed Delaney and Blake's story. They frustrated me sometimes, but all in all, it was a good book.

Delaney comes to Glebe Point to check out Blake. Her cousin had recently passed away, leaving her young son with Delaney. She had told Delaney that Blake was mean and abusive, and Delaney wanted to find out if that was true, as her cousin wasn't always known for telling the truth. When she meets Blake at a Halloween party, she falls for him. But she's not honest with him about her reason for being in town. She knows she needs to tell him about Ben, but she is reluctant to lose him. What she doesn't know is that Blake just found out he has a son, and has a private investigator looking for him. Needless to say, when Blake finds out who Delaney is, things go downhill.

Thanks to BHC Press and NetGalley for providing me an e-book. This is my honest review.

This Time Forever by Patricia Paris is the 1st book in the Glebe Point Cay series, and my first book by this author. Delaney Brannigan and Blake Morrisson meet at the Glebe Point annual costume dance, and are immediately attracted to each other. Blake recently learned that he is a father and is determined to find his son. Delaney is in town to investigate the father of her cousin's child after her cousin dies unexpectedly. This was a very enjoyable book. I enjoyed seeing how the different threads tied together and how the dynamics between the characters played out. I recommend this book if you enjoy romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

(Not suitable for readers under 18)

I really needed a mental escape. Luckily, I decided to open "This Time Forever" on my Kindle. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Delaney Brannigan comes to Glebe Point for one purpose: To gather information on the father of her recently deceased cousin's son, Ben. Delaney plans on adopting Ben, but first feels obligated to confirm that his father, Blake Morrison, is indeed the abusive person her cousin had claimed him to be. When a dashing man dressed as the Lone Ranger catches her eye at the town's Halloween party and closes her evening with a passionate kiss, Delaney is stunned to learn a couple days later that her cowboy is Blake. Having no clue whose cousin she is, Blake asks her out on a date. They fall for one another hard and fast, with Delaney's deception looming over them, threatening to rob her of everything she desires.

This is a well written romance that I read late into the night and finished in the morning. In other words, it is a page-turner. The engaging story and characters certainly contributed to the pleasant reading experience, as did Paris's perfect balance of description and pacing. The story isn't bogged down with irrelevant details. It flows. I really appreciated her writing style, too.

There's a review titled "Sweet and Steamy," which sums up Book 1 in the Glebe Point series. The story grabs the heart; Blake and Delaney sizzle. In plain English: Recommended for a mature audience.

I can't even begin to list all that was wrong with this book, the list is just swirling around in my mind like a tornado. The first thing I did when I finally finished was look for the publishing date, because surely it was written back in the days when VCRs weren't obsolete and everyone and their grandmother didn't own a cell phone. But according to GR it was published in 2011..seriously?! This book is the poster child not only for "How NOT to Self Publish", but also for "How to Write Clichéd Romance Novels".

Oh, and in what world would the custody of a minor be even discussed without some sort of legal authority being involved?! "I'm going to pick up my child, that no one has actually proven is the fruit of my loins, and bring him home to live with me in my house three states away, even though he and I have never, ever met or talked to each other." Of course, no one would object to that or question anything at all so why broach the subject in the book? Ugh, and this is just the minor stuff people! The entire thing was ridiculous, from beginning to end. All I can say is thank God it was free.

Delaney Brannigan goes off in search of the man who is the father of the young boy, Ben, in her care to determine if he is the monster her cousin claimed to be or if he deserves to have custody of his son. What she doesn't expect is to fall in love with Blake Morrisson. She is caught between explaining her true reason for finding him, and risk losing him and Ben, or walking away and never telling Blake about his son.

This Time Forever is a lovely romance with a unique story. The characters may start on the pages of a novel, but lift themselves up out of the story to become as real as your own friends and family. You connect to Delaney, Blake and Ben easily, and wish the very best for them. Patricia Paris created a lovely group of characters, a beautiful backdrop, and an amazing story that you will enjoy from the first page to the last. I enjoyed this novel so much, I have already downloaded book two in the series, Letters To Gabriella.

On the best and worst day of his life, Blake finds out he has a son only no one knows where he is. He hires a private detective to try and find him but lead after lead turns into a dead end. When he meets Delaney he starts to feel that life isn’t completely unfair. Little does he know that his past and his present are on a collision course that will irrevocably change his future.

In an effort to protect someone you love, is it okay to deceive another? This is the predicament that is now Delaney’s life. She wanted to do what was best for Ben but ended up falling in love with his father which was not part of the plan. She only wanted to meet Blake to confirm his horribleness but things get really complicated when the private detective Blake hired unveils her secret before she has a chance to.

Patricia Paris has written a delightful cast of characters that have good times, bad times, and some real punches to the gut that will have readers holding back tears. This is a great read for those looking for a contemporary romance with a healthy dose of depth.

This Time Forever by Patricia Paris is a mystery that involves a beautiful young woman, a handsome man, a little boy who has lost his mother to an early death, and has found a new home with the mother's friend. That the handsome man is actually the boy's father adds the first twist to the story. That this father has only recently discovered the boy's existence after searching for years, and that the mother's friend who has taken the boy in is actually the beautiful young woman now involved with the boy's father adds a level of deception and vulnerability to all involved. You'll wonder all the way through the story who will find out what first, and how the truth will change all of their lives. Another five stars for this story.

This is a heartwarming, emotional and sexy read. I absolutely love this book (have read it twice). The author does a fantastic job of developing the characters and drawing you into the story. I loved the banter between the characters, it seemed natural and easy. I really felt the connection and sparks between Blake and Delaney. Also, felt the emotions that both go through as they work through overcoming a major obstacle. My heart was put through the ringer as I read this book.

Got this free on my kindle!

Interesting read, but really predictable. Some parts I just wanted it to be over with because I knew what would be going on next. Some parts were also just hilarious! Haha, mainly the parts with Justin - hilarious. And the kid! He's adorable.

I mean, you sorta knew what was coming. Girl's hiding a secret, and guy finds out. Guy pouts about it, and then the two come back together. No, really? It's not like they'll hate each other forever. Haha, anyways! Enjoyable read.

Really enjoyed the book. It had all the elements of a good romance. Hero meets heroin, fall in love, passion stirred and electricity sparked when she gave her self to him but had to work through the deceit, half truths and anger to come together. Finally recognizing that they could not live apart.
Delaney and Blake had one common denominator Ben, Blake's three year old son. In his own small way he played his part to bring the two people he cared about the most together. With a good shuff from Justin his twin brother.

I don't remember the last time I read a book this fast. A beautiful romantic story, yet realistic and very well written. Delaney & Blake are your typical romantic duo that we all root for, and that is what great romantic stories are all about. I couldn't wait to learn what happens to Blake's brother Justin, so I rushed to buy the next book in the series - Letters to Gabriella. If you want a good escape, read this book.

Somewhat predictable, but otherwise an entertaining read. I gave this book four stars despite predictability because the author remembered that the hero isn't a cardboard cut out prop for the heroine's story but an active participant. I very much like that Ms. Paris took the time to develop him until the reader has a feel for him as a person.
