Ordinary people are capable of remarkable feats given the right set of circumstances and these days, maybe more than ever, we all need more everyday heros.

The stories I love best are ones in which I could see at least a part of myself and that is actually the starting point of many of my stories. I am an observer. I love to people watch! I can’t help but notice what makes an ordinary person stand out to me and I can’t resist building stories around those unique character sketches.

The stories I least like are ones where the “hero” remains tormented and without resolution even at the end of a book. If I wanted reality, I’d have watched TV. Good fiction should entertain, and have a momentum of its own that carries rather than drags the reader along. My stories are intended to transport the reader away from the stresses of their day-to-day lives, and to sweep them up into a different world where people much like themselves overcome challenges and have remarkable adventures.

My goal is to write stories that inspire people to be their own everyday hero; to imagine new possibilities for themselves and perhaps change the course of their own story. I invite you to join me on the adventure.

This book was entrancing. I was captivated from the very first page. This is not generally the type of book I would read and have therefore never read a book like it before. I love how the relationship between the two main characters has been described, it wasn't over glorified, nor made into a sexual extravaganza, merely a beautiful relationship between two people who genuinely care about, love and adore one another.

The way the author raises societal issues, such as the negativity toward them displayed by the towns local priest, along with the whispered disapproval of locals and the ways in which the two women confronted, dealt with and moved past such attitudes was nothing short of inspirational.

I am not generally a fan of the style of writing of this author, however, the storyline reeled me in and in no time I became quite comfortable with it, which has been a learning experience for me in so many ways and has opened my mind to trying a much more varied collection of written works in the future. For that I owe Prudence thanks.

The reason it took me so long to read this book (for anyone who checks the start and finish dates) is because my kindle decided to provide me with an even bigger challenge of reading this novel in as small a print as possible and would not allow me to increase the font size, which was a strain on my eyes. Thankfully my kindle is back in good working order now :)

I am certainly very glad I agreed to do a review swap with this book - was well worth the read.
