"Guide to Dakini Land" is the first complete explanation in English of the Tantric practice of Vajrayogini, the female Buddha of wisdom. Geshe Kelsang provides detailed instructions on the eleven yogas of generation stage, which are special methods for transforming all our daily activities into a blissful spiritual path; and he also explains with great clarity the essential completion stage practices of Vajrayogini, which lead to full enlightenment. Included are all the sadhanas of Vajrayogini, advice on how to do a Tantric retreat, and a wealth of additional material that will be indispensable to anyone wishing to rely upon Buddha Vajrayogini.
*'Geshe' is a Tibetan Buddhist academic degree for monks and nuns.

The term "Rinpoche," added to Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's name, is a Tibetan word that means "Precious One," and has been added as a mark of deepest respect.
A beautiful, clear and precise commentary to the tantric practice of Naropa's Vajrayogini. One of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's more traditional works. This book is my happy place.
I feel like I can't really give a star rating to this book, as it's not really written for me in mind (a very casual tantra and Tibetan Buddhist scholar who's interested in Vajrayogini). More for the in-depth practitioner, this book details several meditations, visualizations, and rituals that do involve Vajrayogini or her male consort and other goddess figures in some way, all written in a dry, to-the-point style that's about as interesting to read as stereo setup instructions. While it was kind of interesting to read about these deeper visualization practices, it was all a little too weird for me, who's perfectly happy with just watching my breath as my meditation practice for the rest of my life. (Though I can guess that the various intense visualizations would definitely hone one's ability to focus.)
One needs the initiation prior to reading this profound manual on the highest yoga tantra of Vajrayogini. I call this book a manual because it instructs the readers on the stages of the practice of Vajrayogini from initiation to completion/union. This practice was very secret for hundreds of years. GKG has done a service to westerners by sharing this information.
Incredibly profound! The single most complete presentation of the practice of Vajrayogini I have found. From a clear introduction to the practice, all visualizations and meditations, even line drawings of how to perform the mudras. Absolutely indispensable for my daily practice.
