Eskimo Artifacts: Designed for Use by Paul Thiry

Rate this book
The Eskimo made exquisite use of the natural resources available to him. The result was artifacts which were completely functional as well as works of art. Most of the artifacts shown date prior to the 20th century, many are prehistoric. Salon quality photos were chosen so that the artifacts could be shown actual size. They are everyday objects such baskets woven of coiled tundra grasses, baleen an sinew, tools carved of caribou antlers or jade; stone lamps for burning oil; boots and parkas of fur and skins, masks, combs and more.
