Jack Canfield is an American motivational speaker and author. He is best known as the co-creator of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book series, which currently has over 124 titles and 100 million copies in print in over 47 languages. According to USA Today, Canfield and his writing partner, Mark Victor Hansen, were the top-selling authors in the United States in 1997.
Canfield received a BA in Chinese History from Harvard University and a Masters from University of Massachusetts. He has worked as a teacher, a workshop facilitator, and a psychotherapist.
Canfield is the founder of "Self Esteem Seminars" in Santa Barbara, and "The Foundation for Self Esteem" in Culver City, California. The stated mission of Self Esteem Seminars is to train entrepreneurs, educators, corporate leaders and employees to achieve their personal and professional goals. The focus of The Foundation for Self Esteem is to train social workers, welfare recipients and human resource professionals.
In 1990,he shared with author Mark Victor Hansen his idea for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. After three years, the two had compiled sixty-eight stories.
Canfield has appeared on numerous television shows, including Good Morning America, 20/20, Eye to Eye, CNN's Talk Back Live, PBS, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Montel Williams Show, Larry King Live and the BBC.
Canfield's most recent book, The Success Principles (2005), shares 64 principles that he claims can make people more successful. In 2006, he appeared in the DVD, "The Secret," and shared his insights on the Law of Attraction and tips for achieving success in personal and professional life.
Jack Canfield was born on August 19, 1944, in Fort Worth, TX. He is the son of Elmer and Ellen (a homemaker; maiden name, Taylor). He attended high school at Linsly Military Institute, Wheeling, WV, 1962. He went to college at Harvard University, B.A., 1966; University of Massachusetts at Amherst, M.Ed., 1973. Canfield married Judith Ohlbaum in 1971 (divorced, November 1976); he married Georgia Lee Noble on September 9, 1978 (divorced, December 1999); he married Inga Marie Mahoney on July 4, 2001; children: (first marriage) Oran, David, Kyle, Dania; (second marriage) Christopher Noble. He is a Democrat and a Christian, and his hobbies include tennis, travel, skiing, running, billiards, reading, and guitar.
Section 1:How to feel lovable and capable in terms of your psychological self? (loving relationship with our mind, emotions) - Give people applause and put them into attention - Role of touching: improves immune system: Give 12 hugs a day - Join support group: create a relationship to fill lovable and belonging, join volunteer groups - Avoid toxic people and surround with people you can learn from. If a person judges you or criticise you- (don't agree that you right just say, if I was you and in your situation I would think the same) - E(experience)+ R (response/ risk a new behaviour)= result -> focus on response - Don't feel bad after the event, nothing changed (at least you tried) its only your thoughts that set you off -> its not what people say, its the meaning you take from when they are talking to you!!!!! WATCH OUT REJECTION and how to HANDLE, do not generalise it!!!! Focus on positive, fill in the blank/vacume in positive way "something else need to be doing", "don't know me well" Exercise;"no matter what you say to me or what you do to me, I am still worth while person" - People do not upset you, they did not do it to you. You did it yourself, because there must be something already in you that thinks that - Be uncomfortable - it helps you to grow! - IMPORTNANT: 5 phycological function;MIND(positive attitude/thinking, affirmation, change self talk, affirmation),IMAGINATION(positive pictures about us), EMOTION(except us and do not let the emotions to run),BODY(love to accept it, nurture it, take care of it, take a a pleasure in it),INTUITION (trust it), HIGH SELF (gather/ gain wisdome wisdom, how did you expand your capacity to love - >an esense of yourself is to love, do not withhold love!!!!! )TAP in to your HIGH SELF-> by loving, enjoying. How to getting touch with yourself??? listen to yourself e.g. voices, feeling sense- pay attention to them!!!! - Tune in to high self and it will help to tune into your purpose. - Exercise ! " I unconditionally love myself just the way I am"- watch what bothers me... - Do not compare to anyone!!!! - Control self talk, what visualise and see... change on thinking focus on thinking what's right, what you should have done!!!!!! Exercise!!!! negative thoughts say cancel, cancel, cancel!!!!! - Talking about your qualities is not bragging!!!!! Think that you are under oath, say and celebrate your positives. List 50 qualities. Watch out on unrealistic expectations, why not A, B is good too. Its ok to make a mistake, its ok not to make mistakes - I am not my emotions, I am not my body, I'm not my thoughts, I am not my role -> I'm myself, love it, and it will love you back. Love yourself! -Visualise positive Imagery/expectations in the head, but be careful how you use it. Do not imaging you will screw up... WATCH YOUR INNER IMAGE!!!! - GET rid of GUILT how you should be !!!!!! - EXERCISE: GET READ OF YOUR INCOMPLITIONS!!!! Get closure, if if doesn't work fix it or though it away. Any clothes that you haven't wore in 2 years through it away or donate, get your fiance, health routine; clean out your rooms/draws - State clearly what you should be acknowledge for and acknowledge others:Clearly communicate what you do, what you have achieved and need help with in a work environment.

Re set your self-image, overwise you will only see what you see. Have disciplin, affirmations (1.I'm, be positive e.g. I am happily/easily make... rather than I no longer.2. Purpose to awaken a picture.3.Stay in present tense.4.keep it short 5.be specific 6.Include a feeling- peacefully/proudly 8. has to be personal e..g characteristics or something better) and visualisation

I cant remember what I rated this book, so I'l give it 3 stars, anything better i'd would have remembered, just migrating my list / bookshelf from that idiot service 'weread' that doesnt work anymore...but anyways...hope to connect with fellow readers :)

A lot of valid points. I didn't agree will all that the author mentioned, but the take away was enough that I will read it again when a refresher is needed.
